WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN

≪•◦ CHAPTER ELEVEN | THE BOOBS LOOK AMAZING ◦•≫

••●••

Smoke curled from Colby's lips, dissipating quickly in the rare Forks sunshine as she waited in her car outside Bella's house. She had offered to take Bella to school after the Swan girl came over to check on her following the car accident. Colby wasn't supposed to be going to school today—Dr. Cullen had been quite clear about that—but he knew how stubborn she could be. Besides, it was the first sunny day she had seen in Forks, and she wasn't about to miss it by staying cooped up at home, especially with her mother still fuming that a Cullen was her doctor.

The sound of the passenger door opening snapped Colby out of her thoughts. She smiled as Bella slid into the seat beside her. "How're you feeling?" Bella asked, placing her book bag in the backseat next to Colby's.

"I'm fine, just a little headache," Colby replied, pointing to the cut on her forehead that was healing surprisingly fast.

"You're not supposed to be going to school today, are you?" Bella asked with a smirk as Colby pulled away from the Swan house.

"Nope, but did you really think I was going to miss a day like this?" Colby shot back, glancing at Bella, who laughed.

"Understandable," Bella said with a nod. A comfortable silence settled between the two brunettes as Colby drove towards the school.

Soon, Colby parked in her usual spot beside where Rosalie's car would normally be. The only difference was that neither Rosalie nor the other Cullens were parked in their usual spots.

"Maybe they're just running late," Colby suggested, noticing the confused look on Bella's face. It wasn't true; Colby knew exactly why the Cullens weren't at school. She had learned the truth from Emmett and Rosalie when she visited their home—the day they confessed to being vampires. Vampires that sparkled in the sun, something that would undoubtedly raise questions.

Bella and Colby got out of the car and began walking towards the school, only to be stopped by Tyler and Eric. "You two are like danger magnets, but it's good to see you alive, Colbs," Tyler said with a smile.

"Yeah, thanks, Tyler," Colby replied.

"It was nice talking to you guys, but we really gotta go," Bella said, linking her arm with Colby and steering them around the boys.

Colby watched with a hint of amusement as Bella scanned the school grounds, clearly searching for the Cullens, particularly Edward. "They're not here," Jessica announced from atop the table. Colby's arm rested on Jessica's legs as she tried to stave off sleep. The sun, unusually warm for Forks, created a cozy blanket over her as she sat with her back to it, her spaghetti strap blouse allowing the rays to kiss her tanned skin.

Colby smiled at Bella's confusion. "Whenever the weather is nice, the Cullens disappear," she explained. Jessica nodded and sat up, forcing Colby to move.

"Dr. and Mrs. Cullen pull them out of school for an all-day hiking trip. I tried that one on my parents—not even close," Jessica said, leaning back on the table. Colby laid her head back on her friend's lap just as Angela approached, beaming.

"Guys, I'm going to prom with Eric! I just asked him—I took control!" Angela announced happily. Colby grinned and gave her a high five.

"Good for you, Ang!" Colby exclaimed with a bright smile before resting her head back on Jessica's lap. Jessica began petting the top of Colby's head, almost lulling her to sleep. Bella and Angela hugged, and Bella said, "I told you that would happen," after they pulled apart.

"Are you sure you have to go out of town?" Angela asked, turning the spotlight on Bella.

"Yeah, it's a little family thing," Bella responded with a small smile. Jessica stood up, forcing Colby to lift her head. A groan of annoyance escaped her lips as she had been very comfortable.

"Okay, we should go shopping in Port Angeles before all the good dresses get cleaned out. Especially you, Colbs—no excuses. You're going, especially since you'll be going with Emmett Cullen!" Jessica exclaimed, a teasing tone in her voice. Colby rolled her eyes and laughed. It was obvious Tyler had told Jessica, considering Colby hadn't mentioned it to anyone except Bella.

"Port Angeles? Mind if I come too?" Bella asked.

"Please do, Bella!" Colby insisted. She knew Jessica would be nonstop talking about how she was going to prom with a Cullen, and she needed Bella to help distract her as much as possible.

────── ──────

Colby ran her fingers along the silky fabric of a red dress she had been staring at for the last ten minutes, it was simple but she was falling in love with it the more she stared at it. "You know, there's a dressing room right over there, try it on." The clerk lady said, she was a sweet older woman who had notice the look on Colby's face as she stare as the silk red dress.

Colby smiled at the woman and took the dress of the rack and the woman guided her to the dressing room with a bright sweet smile.

Stepping into the dressing room she hung the dress on one of the hooks as she heard her friends talking on the outside. "I like this one..." Colby heard Jessica trail off following by the soft sound of her taking the dress of the rack. Colby smiled and chuckled at Angela's response, "That's cool." It was obvious Angela was distracted with looking at dresses for herself. Colby shook her head as she stripped down in only her bra, underwear, and socks. "But, like, I don't know about the one-shoulder thing." Jessica said as Colby unzipped the the back of the red dress and slipped it on, she turned around before she could even try to zip it up and faced the mirror as she heard the dressing rooms beside her open and close telling the Salvatore girl that Angela and Jessica probably just got in with dresses for themselves to try on.

Colby ran her fingers along her sides, she adored the feeling of silk, she was amazed by how amazing she believed she looked in the red colored dress, she didnt even realized she was in the dressing room so long until the clerk spoke, "are you alright in there, sweetheart?" Colby smiled, "yeah sorry I'm great actually." Colby called back.

Colby hears the two come out of the dressing rooms beside hers, "I like this one." Angela says and Jessica steps out, probably wearing one herself, "yeah, I like the beading, and you wouldn't need jewelry." Colby sticks her head out from the dressing room seeing Bella sitting against the window. "Hey Bells, can you help me zip this up?" Bella turned and nodded as she got up, "you've been in there for a long time and you're just barely needing to zip it up?" Bella asked as Colby turned and moved her hair so Bella could zip up the dress. "Shut up, I got distracted." The two brunettes shared soft laughter. Once Bella zipped up the dress Colby looked back at the long mirror seeing how well the dress complimented her figure, hugging all the right places, it had a slit that went up to her mid thigh, and it also flowed down and stopped at the floor, covering her feet, she new she was going to asked either Rosalie or Alice for shoe help.

"Jess, what do you think? Lavender? Is that good? Is that my color?" Anglea asked as both Jessica and Colby stepped out of the changing rooms, Jessica was wearing a pink colored dressed that in Colby's opinion, complemented her well, "I like, I like that dusty rose one too." Jessica says as she turns to look in the mirror, spotting Colby as well, "please tell me you're getting that dress, you look hot! Emmett's heart is going to totally stop when he sees you in that!" Jessica exclaimed. Colby smiled, "Should I get it?"

All three girls exclaimed a large yes, "okay okay, sold, by the way Jess, the boobs. Look amazing." Colby says, Jessica smiles and looks down, "They do, Right?" The two laughed and a few guys walked in front of the window Bella was sitting at, "Nice!" On of the guys said, Colby grimaced, "oh my god." Angela said looking at Jessica and Colby, "that's uncomfortable." Jessica added.

"Oh, that's disgusting." Bella said as the guys finally left. "Bella, what do you think?" Jessica asked, changing the subject quickly, "Looks great." Bella responded, Colby smiled a bit, she knew this wasn't Bella's thing, and in all honesty it wasn't Colby's either, but anything was better than staying in the house while her and her older sister still weren't on each other's good sides at the moment.

"You said that about, like, the last five dresses, though." Jessica said, "I thought they were all pretty good." Bella defended, "you're not really into this, are you?" Angela asked with a small smile, "I actually just really want to go to this bookstore. Um I'll meet you guys at the restaurant?" Bella asked as she stood from her spot. "Are you sure?" Jessica asks, "yeah, yeah, see you in a minute." Bella responds, "Wait, Bells, I'll come with you, okay?" Colby asked, Bella gave her close friend a smile and nodded. "Just let me change and buy this." Colby said as she slipped into the dressing room and quickly changed.

Once Colby exited the dressing room she caught up with Bella at the cash register. "I knew you'd like this, sweetheart." The clerk from before said, as she scanned the price tag and gave Colby the price, "it's perfect, thank you." Colby said as she paid for the dress. "We'll see you guys soon okay?" Colby called toward the two others. "Okay." Jessica and Angela said symoutamiously as the two left.

"So what're trying to find here?" Colby asked as the two entered the small bookstore. "Uh, just something for light reading, this actually, Jacob, who's a friend of mine on the reservation told me about these Quileute Legends, thought I'd check it out." Bella said as she spotted the book they came to look for. "Quileute Legends huh?" Colby said, trying to mask her nervousness, she had a feeling Bella either had a theory or guess about her family. It was possible that her ancestors might be found in the very book in the girl's hand, considering Colby's early family had a war with the Quileute tribe, Colby didn't know the full story, only that the Quileute tribe were the only humans that knew about the witch family, her parents refused to tell her the full story.

"What exactly are you looking for in that book?" Colby asked as they headed towards the cashier. "Just, something interesting to read." Bella shrugged and smiled at the cashier timidly. Colby just nodded and looked around until she spotted a familiar face outside. "I'll meet you outside okay?" Bella nodded and with that Colby went out. "So how was your hiking trip?" Colby asked with a chuckled once she got outside and met up with the buff vampire.

Emmett chuckled and pulled the girl in to a hug. "That good huh?" Colby asked, surprised by the action. "It was the same as always, witchy. How does dinner sound?" Emmett asked, Colby could see the way he was fidgeting with his fingers that for some strange reason, he was nervous. Just as Colby was about to answer, Bella walked out and went up to Colby with a soft smile. "Hey I'm going to make another stop, I'll meet up with you guys later, or tomorrow." Bella said with a small smirk. Colby laughed and nodded, "Call me if you need me okay?" Colby said, Bella nodded with a smile before she left, "Dinner sounds fun. But I thought you don't eat?" Colby asked in a teasing tone. "Let's just say, I ate on the hiking trip." Emmett said with a chuckle as he slung his arm around the girl and they began walking, most likely to his jeep.

"Dinner with a vampire, a dream come true." Cobly laughed along with Emmett as they reached his jeep and opened the passenger door for her. "Dinner with a witch better be magical." Emmett added before closing the door and heading towards the driver's side without using his vampire speed due to the few humans around Port Angeles. "I thought maybe, I'd take you to meet my family, Esme thought it would be fun, especially since it would give her a reason to use our kitchen." Emmett said the second he hopped in his jeep. Although Colby has already met all the Cullens besides Esme formally, she thought it was sweet that they wanted her over, given the family history.

"That sounds amazing."
