Chapter 13

No ones POV:
There was a state of panic as Macrafta was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, the news had not yet reached Midnight, so he sat there waiting for a reply, not knowing that Mac's life was in jeopardy.

Midnight's POV:
"What's taking her so long to answer?" I thought as I stared at my phone waiting for a reply from Mac. "I hope nothing is wrong." Suddenly, I got a call from Amy, I answered the way I usually do. "Hey Amy, what's up?" Suddenly, she started talking really fast and loudly. I couldn't understand a word she was saying, but I could tell she was crying. "Woah woah woah! Amy, slow down! What's wrong?" I said, and she gave me her reply, "I-it's Mac! Sh-she's in the hospital! S-someone shot her in the ch-chest!" It was right then and there that time itself stopped moving, my eyes widened and my blood went ice cold. "Wh-what? Are you sure?!" I asked daring to not believe what I just heard, "She's unresponsive right now, I'm going to the hospital to make sure they get her through this." and with that, she hung up. Everything around me was spinning, my heart was pounding, and I felt as if I couldn't breathe properly. I sat there for a moment trying to process what to do, I almost immediately knew what the answer was. I stood up and left through the window, heading for the hospital.

*Time Skip* (some things never change XD)

No ones POV:
Midnight arrived at the hospital, but didn't go in because he knew his appearance would cause disruption. Lucky for him, Amy was nearby and directed him to the window of Mac's room, she was in the intensive care ward. Midnight made it to the window and peered in, the sight put an aching hole in his heart: Mac was hooked up to lots of machines as well as covered in bandages from her stomach to the top of her chest. One of the machines she was hooked up to was keeping track of her heartrate, which was slow, but steady. Amy opened the window and let him in after checking to see if the coast was clear, he made no hast getting to her side.

Midnight's POV:

"Oh God, oh God, oh God....." was all I could manage to say, or even think, as I held Mac's hand. I put my other hand on the side of her face and caressed it, her skin was cold, trying to regain its warmth. Her once beautiful rosy complexion was now pale and dull, her beautiful hazel eyes now shut from the rest of the world. "This can't be happening, Mac, PLEASE wake up!" I thought to myself as tears welled up in my eyes. "The doctors say she's stable for now..." Amy remarked before sighing, I knew this meant something bad, "What's the catch?" Tears fell from her eyes once more, "She's going to be in a coma until she recovers enough, and the doctors don't know when that will be, or if it will happen at all...." The sinking feeling in my stomach got even worse, I turned my attention back to Mac, tears falling. "The doctor will be making his rounds again soon, you should go get some rest." Amy said gently. I didn't want to leave though, but I knew I had to, I kissed her forehead gently before going back out the window and heading back to the base. I hadn't been back in my room for long before a knock on my door sounded. I recomposed myself and opened my door to see Karai there, "Mistress Karai, is there anything you need?" "Not me, but my father. He's summoned you to Japan, he wants you to complete an intensive amount of training there." "Japan? Why did Shredder want me all the way out there for TRAINING?" I wondered. I didn't want to leave Mac, but I had no choice and agreed. "Good, you leave in the morning. Get packing." with that, she left. I closed my door and sat on my bed, tears falling from my eyes once again. Not only was Mac's life in the balance, but I couldn't be there for her when she needed me most... I pulled out my phone and texted Amy this information before beginning to pack. I had a new chapter ahead of me, and I wanted nothing to do with it.

No ones POV:

Five years pass after Midnight left for his training in Japan, he became a much better fighter during that time, and he was stripped of everything that made him weak, or so he thought. During this time, he forgot about Mac, he forgot about how happy she made him, he forgot about how special she was, she was completely blocked out of his memories. Midnight returned to New York with one thing on his mind, ending his brothers and previous master. He felt as if he had nothing left in New York, so once his task was done, he was going to leave the city and go elsewhere, starting a new life.

Midnight's POV:

I looked around the city as I left the base, "New York City, the Big Apple, nothing has changed since I was last here..." I thought to myself before regaining my focus. I made my way towards where I knew the best entrance to the lair for an ambush was, however, I was stopped by something. I heard a baby crying, not the obnoxious cry when it's being needy, a desperate cry, as if it were in trouble, and it was getting louder. I hid nearby and waited, before long, I saw a startling sight: a giant humanoid wolf with grey and white fur and bright blue eyes was running by, holding a small bundle in his arm. I acted out of reflex, I jumped out and tripped him, catching the baby that went flying a bit, "Well well well, what do we have here?" I asked, pointing my weapon at him, while holding the baby in one arm. He growled, "Just a simple wolf trying to get rid of a mistake, this ticked me off a bit. "This isn't a mistake, this is a BABY, someone who is too small, weak, and vulnerable to protect themselves against the likes of you. If you leave now, you live to see another day little wolf." He growled, "Fine, that little beast is your problem now." He then took off, leaving me with a baby, "I didn't think this through enough-" I thought as I put my weapon away. I looked at the bundle and uncovered the baby's face; it was a little girl who hardly looked anything like the wolf, aside from her bright blue eyes. "Strange......she looks somewhat familiar..." I thought as I looked at her. She was no longer crying, just looking at me in wonder, which made me smile a little before snapping out of it. "Let's find your mother young one." I said to the child, who probably didn't understand me. The sooner I got her out of my hands, the sooner I could get back to my mission. I searched for a while, but found nothing, yet just when I was about to give up, I heard the sound of a woman calling out for someone. "Martina! Martina?!" I looked at the little girl in my arms, "I'm gonna guess that your name is Martina, isn't it little one?" I jumped down to where I heard the voice coming from and was met with a woman who had long blonde hair, hazel eyes, and a rosy complexion. And it was right then when memories came flooding back to me, of the same girl I knew five years ago. Her eyes were wide, yet her tone was soft, "Midnight...?" It was her, the girl I had fallen in love with, "M...Macrafta.....?"
