Tomorrow's not always bright

2 YEARS LATER

Aaron was enjoying a nice stroll through the forest. It was one of his favorite pastimes ever since he was a child. Most of the time he'd do it with his siblings, but occasionally he'd go alone. They all did once every while.

He didn't really do much on his walk through the forest. He would sometimes interact with the animals or pick a couple of berries of the bushes or fruit out the trees. If he was feeling adventurous, he would climb the trees and sit on a branch, looking over the forest.

While walking, he stopped by a bush and found some berries that had a faint glow to them. He remembered picking them when he was younger. It was mostly for his mother, but sometimes the six children would go out and eat them after a long day of playing.

He picked two off the bush and tossed them into his mouth. The taste was a bitter mixture of sour and sweet, but he loved it nonetheless. He picked a few more and ate them, enjoying the taste. Leaving the bush and feeling satisfied, Aaron continued on his stroll, staring at the life around him.

Suddenly, he saw a light emit from a familiar place. He stopped and stared at the flickering light. He slowly made his way towards it, seeing the light shine and bounce off the trees. As Aaron got closer and closer, he saw some cushions and a few blankets.

His mouth fell slightly open as he stared at the area. This was where he and his siblings spent the majority of their time if they weren't moving around or anything. There were a few lanterns, many cushions, some blankets, and other objects like toys, plates and bags.

Aaron gasped and jumped when he saw a woman sitting on one of the cushions. She had light blue skin and long turquoise hair. Her makeup matched her skin and her ears were pointy. She wore a white dress and brown sandals as she sipped on some wine.

Without looking at him, she spoke. "I knew the light would draw you here, Aaron Pittman. Or if you want to be called your original name, Aaron Naidki."

Aaron tensed up as the strange woman spoke to him. Confusion filled his brain and next thing he knew, he was asking questions. "Who are you? How do you know my name?"

The woman looked at him and chuckled. "I would say that I am one of your 'nature gods,' but there is no time for that. Who I am is not important. But you? You are quite important..Come. Sit."

Aaron, not knowing what else to do, hesitantly sat down on one of the cushions. The blue woman poured some wine into two glasses and handed one of them to Aaron.

"You and your siblings..I'm sure you know of your 'dreams,' right? Your dreams that can predict the future, or sometimes current events."

Aaron nodded, looking down at the glass then taking a sip of it.

"Well, there's more to it than that. You and your siblings are special and gifted, Aaron. More than you know. Have you ever realized why no one picks or eats those glowing berries other than you or you siblings? Not even your mother ate them. Those berries are one of the most poisonous berries known to humankind. They kill you within 3 hours. If not, instantly. And you have been eating them your whole life."

He sat his glass down and looked at the woman with confusion. "But how? I should be dead then, right?"

"To others, you should, child. But I'm not going to explain everything yet. I'm not here to confuse you or harm you. I'm here to warn you. About your husband and friends." she answered.

"My friends? My husband? What are you-"

The woman held a hand up. "Let me finish, Aaron. Not just those few. The werewolf kind in general. They're planning to do something against our will. They're planning to take over the city. Maybe multiple cities. And they'll get rid of anyone who gets in their way and tries to stop them. Even you."

Aaron stayed silent as he glanced down into his glass. He didn't know whether he should've trusted this woman or not. She knew so much about him and possibly more, but at the same time, he doubted that his best friends and own husband would lay a harmful finger on him.

"We're not expecting you to hunt them down or hurt them. All you need to do is to get your siblings and live in your mother's house until the second revolution comes. Use your powers to guide people to safety and through everything. After all..you are one of the few who hold the future in their hands." she added on.

"M-My powers?"

"Yes, Aaron. In fact, they should be kicking in....now."

In an instant, Aaron felt lightheaded. He brought an unsteady hand up to his pounding head as he swayed.

"Oh, and Aaron? This is most definitely a secret you'd want to keep from your husband and friends."

With that, his body fell to the right as blackness surrounded him.

Aaron opened his eyes. He saw smoke but couldn't smell it. There was fire all around him and the sound of wolves howling. He looked down and saw that his skin was untouched and so were his clothes. But the people around him were suffering.

There were dead bodies, people injured and running. There were even people on the ground, as their bodies forced them to morph into wolves. Tears filled Aaron's eyes as he watched the scene before him. A couple of tears slid down his face as he heard a familiar voice.

"Damn mutt! Get back!"

There was Mabelle, with a rifle in her hand and a few cuts and bruises on her skin. She was slowly backing away and pointing her gun at a large white wolf with blue eyes. The eyes were familiar themselves as well.

As Mabelle was cursing and yelling at the wolf, the wolf continued to get closer and closer, but it didn't growl or try to look menacing or threatening in any way. It just stared at her with wet eyes.

Mabelle shot her gun at the wolf, but it did nothing but graze its skin. The wolf stopped and stared at her with wide eyes.

The wolf jumped at her and sunk its teeth into Mabelle, drawing a blood-curdling scream from her.

Aaron reached out for her, but was stopped as the world flashed and changed. He fell to his knees, gripping his head and groaning in pain.

The world around him went from fire and ash to green and lush. Instead of people dying and suffering, he saw people walking around in light clothing. Some looked as if it was animal skin or made from other natural materials or old clothes.

Aaron stood up and looked around, taking in the scene. It was the same forest he lived in, but more luscious. It was also more populated than before. There were houses, market stalls, pools, farms, buildings and even a large gate and fence.

The scene made Aaron confused yet a bit more serene. He saw that no one was in pain and suffering. They all seemed content and happy. There were even children playing.

He heard another familiar voice which made him look to his right. Aaron's mouth nearly fell to the ground once he saw who it was.

There was his little sister, Eudora, who had recently turned 18 running through the forest. She was laughing, giggling, and looking back at what or whoever was chasing him. What really shocked him was that he saw himself running after her. The two looked to be playing a game of tag through the trees.

Aaron smiled at the fond scene, even if he didn't understand what was going on. All that he really remembered was that he was talking to a blue woman and drinking wine with her. Now, he was seeing these graphic and vivid scenes, unable to do anything but just watch.

Still watching the other him and Eudora run around some more, another light flashed, making him wince.

Aaron blinked again and saw that there was only a sky. The sky was nothing but dark grey clouds and there was heavy rain pouring. The wind was blowing harshly and the lighting would occasionally strike, with some thunder included.

He looked down and saw a war within a city. There were people and wolves fighting each other. The lighting would occasionally strike down on a wolf, either killing it or nearly killing it.

Aaron looked up and saw a woman with light skin and long brown hair. The wind was spiraling around her body and her eyes were white. Electricity wrapped around her arms as she stared angrily past Aaron.

It was obvious there was something behind him that she was glaring at, but he couldn't but shudder as he stared into her deadly gaze. Yet, he saw no hate or malice in her eyes.

All there was was the anger of a disappointed mother who found out her kids went and did drugs. Or a disappointed wife.

Aaron stared at the woman for what seemed like an eternity, until he heard a distant voice through the loud weather.

"LILITH!"

'Lilith? Was that her name?' thought Aaron as the thunder roared.

Not having any more time to react, Aaron felt his head spinning. He leaned back and felt as if he was dropping. The world was still hazy, but he could still hear the shouts and yells of the ongoing battle getting louder and louder as he got closer to the ground.

Blinking and blinking, the world slowly went black as he felt wind flowing through his curly hair.

With one last breath, the world went black.

Aaron shot up, breathing and panting as his heart was beating twice as fast. He wasn't sweating or crying like last time, but he had to adjust and see where he was.

He looked around and saw that he was back in his room. Not back in the forest with the blue woman, nor in any of those scenes he experienced. He was back home.

Still, Aaron knew what that was. They truly were visions. Though, him talking with the woman felt real. He still tasted wine and berries in his mouth.

But that meant what she had told him was real. The werewolves were planning something horrible that would endanger many. Even his own husband, Jason, was in on it.

Aaron heard the sound of shower knobs turning and water going out. He turned and stared at the bathroom door that was inside his room, frozen in place.

The door opened to reveal a concerned Jason. His body and hair were wet from the shower, and he had nothing but a towel on. He stared at Aaron, who looked panicked.

"Babe? Are you okay? I heard you scream." Jason said.

Aaron said nothing and turned away, looking down at his feet. He shut his eyes, but when he did, flashes of his vision came. He didn't know what to do at that point. This was like nothing he'd ever experienced before.

Jason came up slowly and sat beside Aaron, who was curled up into a ball.

"Love?"

Aaron stayed silent. His eyes were wide and his breathing was steady, but his stomach was doing flips and his heart was racing. His mind was processing so much in so little time.

He couldn't even face Jason. Yet he had no reason to give the cold shoulder to someone who had done no wrong yet, but at the same time, he would eventually end up doing bad things. He simply moved away from Jason, who looked at Aaron with slight sadness.

Jason didn't know why his husband was acting like that. He felt helpless, knowing there was something wrong.

"Aaron? Please. Tell me what's going on."

There was indeed something wrong, but Aaron couldn't tell Jason. He remembered the woman's last words to him and decided to heed her warnings. After today, he needed to tell as many people as he could about this.

But he couldn't tell anyone that was related, connected to, or was a werewolf. Not even his closest friends and husband.

After all, just like the blue woman said: This was a secret that was best kept from anyone other than himself.
