Chapter 24
Tubbo crashed into Tommy, making them both fall over and roll down the hill a little, tangled in a tight hug and giddy laughter. "I missed you man!" "It's so good to see you Tubs!" The two grinned and laughed and refused to let go of each other, even when being covered in dirt and grass.
Meanwhile Wilbur reached Phil, who stumbled his way up the hill with his wings instinctively flailing around behind him. It wasn't doing much, since he barely even had half of his feathers grown yet, but it sure was funny to look at. "Wil!" The shorter wrapped his friend in a tight hug, flapping his wings happily. Wilbur laughed and squeezed Phil tightly, lifting him a tiny bit in the air. "Phil! Oh my god it's so good to see you! And you have wings!" Phil laughed and spread them wide. "I do!" Wilbur grinned and put the older down again, who grinned back up at him, flashing only slightly sharper canines. "Oh thank god you guys are alright. I was so worried knowing you're probably somewhere out there."
"He did almost die! I saved him!", Tubbo so helpfully supplied from his spot being squished. Wilbur huffed, grinning at the small brunette. "The iron golem saved me." "I sent it out! That counts!" While the two were grinning at the memory, Phil didn't look so happy about the news. "What happened? Are you okay?" "Oh yeah I'm fine. All healed up. Almost got swarmed by mobs during the night." "That sounds familiar", a deep voice huffed from behind Phil, the smile clearly audible in it.
"Techno!" He grinned and held his arms out for Wilbur, who gave him the biggest hug of his life. "I can't believe this is how we meet for the first time! You look great man! God were you always this tall? Rocking that pink hair by the way." Techno just rolled his eyes, flicking him against the forehead. "Why does everyone keep bringing it up?" "Well it is a pretty obvious change." He rubbed his forehead, completely unbothered, until something smashed into his side and held on. "Missed you too Wil!" Tommy grinned, clinging to him like a koala. Wilbur laughed and hugged Tommy. "You too gremlin child."
There were more greetings exchanged between all of them, laughter and hugs and comments about their slowly changing appearances. It was warm and happy and familiar, a semblance of home, of safety. "Let's go inside. It's getting dark and I wouldn't want Wil to get attacked a second time." Murmured agreements helped shooing everyone inside the protective wall of their base, hidden away from all the monsters that have started to crawl out of their hideouts.
"Wow... look at this place." "Eh. It's getting a bit packed in here... at this point we might need to move some stuff to get more spaces for the houses. Maybe put all the food farms outside with the wheat and put the storage into a basement... or into a side room in the mines. Basements for all the houses would also be great if the space is enough." Phil's mind was buzzing with ideas for new small buildings and plans to move around stuff efficiently. His hardcore brain was thinking about possible farms that may have worked just fine for automating stuff in the game, but now they might not work that well.
Techno pats Wilbur's shoulder, guiding him towards an already set up campfire for their shared dinner. "Don't mind him, he does that sometimes. Just nod along or ignore it. Really should get him a notebook or something for all of his rambling." Tommy snorted at that from his position already sitting in his spot. "Won't that make him ramble more?" "Eh. Maybe."
"You said you guys used an iron golem against the mobs?" George flopped down in his spot, stretching his arms above his head. "Well, more like I told the village golem to go over there." Bad piped up at that. "Which village did you guys come from?" "The one with Elfstone. He knew Phil and could tell us where to go to find you guys." The quiet mumbling next to Wilbur stopped. "Elfstone? Oh we should really go back to that village soon. Shouldn't take that long now that we have the horses." And there he goes mumbling again, Brian on his shoulder occasionally cheeping into the conversation.
"Anyways, food will be done soon. I can imagine you guys are hungry." This time Dream and Puffy were managing making the food. They had agreed on a system where everyone helps at different days to keep it fair, unless someone really can't cook without burning themselves or others. Which mainly turned out to be Tommy and George, funnily enough. "What are we eating?" "Mainly a mix out of potatoes and bread really. But we want to get more food stuff from the village soon. Maybe some meats and eggs and milk." "Maybe we can learn how to fish too, but not if we also have to gut and prep the fish. That's disgusting."
There was immediate agreement from the group at that. Yeah, none of them actually want to kill one of the peaceful animals. "Should we try and head for the village in the morning? Long overdue anyways." "Yeah I want to see the other village!" Bad grinned excitedly, eyes glowing only the slightest bit brighter than before. "If we do, we should make some sort of list to keep track of what we need and what we already have." "Of course dad wants to make a shopping list." Phil huffed and smacked Tommy upside the head with his wing. "Shut. Do you want to come along or not?" "Sorry sorry."
Sapnap gets up and hurries back over to his house, rummaging through a chest with the door still wide open before grinning and holding up some paper and a piece of coal. "We can use this to write! Worked with our playing cards." The paper was handed off to Phil, who balanced it on his knee as he tried his best to write somewhat readable. "So we want food stuff. Pretty much anything we can get. What else?" "Maybe some seeds for things we don't have yet? Like melons or beets?" Phil nodded, adding it to the list.
"Oh what about saddles for the horses? Maybe even armor if it's not too expensive." Also added to the list. At least they should definitely get some saddles. "Maybe upgrade some weapons or armor. So far Elfstone is our only way of getting enchanted stuff until we have our own setup here." "And if we get stronger stuff, we can go deeper into caves and go look for obsidian." Phil hummed, scribbling more down onto the paper. "If we are thinking of enchanting stuff, we also need to get leather for books."
The list and discussion went on and on, even after they had all received their food. In the end, they reached about one entire page of things to get and to build. It was more of a giant to-do-list and they will most definitely not get everything in one village trip, both from inventory space and from payment alone. Who knows if they even have all of that there or if they need to go to the bigger village that Elfstone had talked about.
The list was completed almost at the same time everyone finished their food. It was in messy handwriting with the coal habing smudged at some spots, but it was mostly readable and ready to go for tomorrow's trip.
• Things to get in the village
- Food stuff (Meat, milk, eggs, seeds for new stuff to grow, maybe some baked stuff as a treat)
(Note: Ask Elfstone about an alternative for "fridge" in this world)
- Maybe a possible cook book or just advice in making food?
- Saddles (and armor) for the horses. Cleaning supplies too if they exist, brushing out mane and fur etc
- Soap or shampoo or anything similar for both clothes and body washing
- Leather for books (plus maybe ink and a quill for writing)
- Upgrade weapons and armor as far as possible, maybe shields?
- Maybe get some chickens for eggs ourselves?
- Maybe new clothes for actual changing and washing and backup sets
- New sapplings for more wood variations when building (mostly Phil's idea)
- Ask about directions to the big village
"Did I forget anything or is that it? Not that this isn't already plenty but just to be sure." They went over everything one more time before deciding that this should be enough for now. And with the moon high in the Sky, they decided to call it for tonight.
Now came the real trouble though. They had managed to make a new bed for Puffy, but now they were out of wool and had new people that needed a space to sleep. And because of who these people were and therefore obviously wanted to stay in Phil's house, Puffy quickly agreed to move her bed over to Dream's place instead.
After more shuffling around, it was decided that Tubbo and Tommy squeezed together in one bed with Techno and Wilbur squeezing together into the other. Phil again offered to share, especially with how much bigger Techno was now and therefore needed the space, but he was immediately shut down by all four other people in the room.
"Your wings are sensitive, better not squish them."
"Your old bones will break if we accidentally kick you."
"Your wings take up enough space for two, they are huge!"
"Fatherza gets his own bed or his wife will be mad with us."
Phil huffed and huddled into his blanket, promptly ignoring them after flipping them off. It was all light hearted banter and they all knew it. Comfortable and familiar.
Home.

I'm sorry for the slow updates. I am forcing myself back into an upload schedule again. Plan is to publish a chapter once a week, either this story or the Future of Choeros one. If motivation for both fails, then you'll get a oneshot.
Anyways, hope you guys have a nice day/ night!
