Chapter 19
"Okay... just to see if I understood everything correctly. All of us have been here for different amounts of time. Phil has been here the longest with well over a month, then probably Techno with like 3 weeks, then Bad with roughly two weeks, George and Dream with a bit less than two weeks, me with one week and a bit and Tommy and Sapnap only a few days. Is that right?" "Sounds about right, yeah."
They had relight the campfire and huddled together in more blankets so they can all sit together, as the houses were too small for them all to fit. More food was prepared and shared between them, with Puffy and Bad eating more than they thought was possible. Puffy tried her best to piece the story together that she was being told, but it was a lot of input from six different people.
"Okay... and you guys managed to find a village nearby and know of the rough location of another one, are currently working on a stable to get horses and to make your base larger so everyone can fit." "Also correct." "And on top of that, you more or less figured out that the longer we stay here, the more we start to look like our actual Minecraft skin, which is the reason Phil is growing wings, Bad has his sharp teeth and you... look the way you do." "Yup. Well actually, I looked like this from day one. I don't really know why, but I guess because I am technically faceless? Even though I'm not really. But then I don't get why Dream gets a mask and I don't so... we don't really know."
Puffy nodded slowly before taking a sip of her water. "I mean, could have been worse. You actually look good with pink hair like this." "Um... thank you?" Phil next to him snickered at that, just to immediately squawk in protest when Techno hit him in the back of the head. "Don't laugh." "Where's the fun in that?" "I will turn you into a feather pillow." Phil laughed and allowed his wings to lift up a bit. "I don't even have feathers yet!" Techno huffed and pushed his hat down so it was covering his friend's eyes. "I can wait until you do, believe me."
George fully ignored the playful argument that started up and instead turned to Bad, who was happily munching on a potato while watching the two bicker, muttering a soft language when Phil started to cuss Techno out for attacking his precious hat. He was safely placed between Dream and Sapnap, a blanket around his shoulders and food and water in front of him. "So... what have you been up to while you were out there? Two weeks is a lot of time to be all by yourself." "I had Puffy." "Yeah but only for two days. Come on, tell us what you did out there."
Soon everyone's attention was on Bad as he began to talk about his adventures out in the wild.
"Okay so... let me think. I woke up in the middle of a birch forest pretty far away from here... I think. At first I was super confused on what is going on, then I thought it was a dream. I've had dreams about being in Minecraft before, so of course I thought that was what's going on. Once that realization came, I began to just walk around and explore. The birch forest was pretty big and I was stuck wandering around in it for like... two days. Since I thought it was a Minecraft dream, I wasn't that surprised when I spotted a Skeleton and a Creeper for the first time... I just avoided them the best I could.
During the first night I stayed in a small cave and experimented with all the crafting stuff before falling asleep. Next morning I continued to explore with a wood sword until I finally reached the edge of the forest and start of huge plains. There was a group of horses there and I decided to follow them around. They seemed to know where food and water was, so that was a good way of making sure I have enough of either.
I traveled with the horses for a few days. They didn't really mind me being there and I think I managed to befriend this cute baby horse that always wanted to play with me. At that point I also kinda accepted that this was a very... vivid dream. It was still pretty difficult to accept that everything was real.
I think after a week... I'm not sure... I spotted a village. It was a cute spruce village and the people were very friendly. One family had this small inn they allowed me to stay in, even though I didn't have anything to pay them with. We agreed that I was allowed to stay as long as I needed in exchange for work in their fields and help them run their bakery. Usually their daughter helped them, but she was pregnant and supposed to rest. She was a really nice woman and her husband was great too, told me all kinds of adventure stories while we worked together.
And after some time, Puffy wandered into the village, all lost and confused. We chatted and stayed for one more night, since it was pretty late when she arrived, before we set off to find other people. We just assumed there will be more people around if the two of us are here. I was a bit sad when we left, I really liked those people. But I promised them I will come visit at some point and I think I can find my way back there from this base, so it's all good. They even gave us little care packages with food and iron swords to protect ourselves."
"They sound like nice people. We definitely have to go visit their village at some point." Bad grinned at Phil's suggestion, nodding his head wildly. "We definitely have to! I want to introduce you guys to them! And their bakery sells so much delicious food. Muffins, cake, cookies even self-made chocolate flavors!" The group laughed over Bad's excitement and agreed to pay them a visit once they have horses and more tradable resources.
"We have a village near us too. A small one near the mountains in a plains biome. It only takes like half a day to get there by foot and the people living there are also really nice. That's where we got most of our weapons from. We wanted to go back there soon anyways to get enchanted stuff for the newcomers as well as see what kinds of food we can get from there." The oldest grinned and happily sipped on his water, already excited to go back. "Phil befriended the blacksmith there, so it will be easy to get actually fair trades from him and not get scammed." "Dream and I want to get matching stuff from the flower guy too! We definitely need to go back there."
Bad turned to George, curious. "Matching stuff? What do you mean?" "Techno and Phil got these matching earrings without telling us when we went there. Then Dream and I decided we wanted something too." "Why would we need to tell you?", Techno quipped from his spot next to Phil. "And you literally begged Dream like a little kid to buy something next time." "I did not!" "Yes you did." "Yeah you kinda did beg me to get something." "You are supposed to be on my side!"
The group laughed, with George hiding his annoyed and red face in his hands. "We can extend the matching thing to the entire Dream Team if you guys are on board with it, but I did promise at least George to get something." "That would be great! We can have like cute little wristbands!" "Sure. I'm down for it." The four immediately began discussing ideas and what kind of jewelry Dream and George remember being in the shop. "At least Kai will get some good business again. Poor guy doesn't get the chance to sell a lot of jewelry lately. He was so happy when he gave me the earrings." "Yeah... he was such a sweet kid. I say kid, he was like seventeen or something."
"He sounds nice." Puffy turned to face the other three members of the group, leaving the group of four to discuss whatever they want. "He is. All the people we talked to were. Seems like a common thing in the small villages. I don't know what the big ones will be like once we get there." "Big villages? There is a difference?" "Well Elfstone mentioned that most of the traders have moved to the larger village further north, so I expect that one to be like an actual town or something. I'm definitely curious to find out." "Who's Elfstone?" "The blacksmith Phil befriended. Nice guy, lot's of useful stuff to trade. Makes enchanted armor and weapons."
Puffy hummed in acknowledgment, staring down into the cup with water. Her expression became darker, more troubled and sad. "And... a way home?" Phil and Techno looked at each other, equal amounts of pain traded in the glance. "Nothing yet... we might have an idea, but in our current situation that one is a suicide mission." "What is that one?" "The Enderdragon fight." Tommy stared into the fire, somehow looking small and younger with how he shrunk more into himself at those words. "That was the only idea we came up with so far."
Phil carefully wrapped and arm around the teen's shoulder and pulled him closer, which Tommy leaned in gratefully. It's obvious that he was still trying to put this brave facade on... pretending to not be scared. It's a painful reminder that despite everything, the young blonde is still a kid. A kid that is now forced to fight for his life, just like the rest of them. A world they all know and love, but fear just the same. "We'll be okay... just need to figure out what to do. We won't let anything happen to you." A nod was the only response, followed by silence.
The group listened to the discussion of jewelry, not in the mood to discuss their situation any further. No need to make it more depressing than it already was.
And not too soon after, the sky began to brighten as dawn approached.
Sorry this is so short and how there hasn't been an update for like 2 months... life has been crazy and it's not really getting better. But I am back now! Hopefully. Eh...
Hope you enjoy this small chapter
