Chapter 14
//This chapter seems so weird... but I needed filler so, sorry xD
Techno, Phil and Tommy had just began eating breakfast, with Tommy still rambling about all the different hybrid headcanons he knows about, when the door to their home flew open and revealed George and Dream. "Guys you won't believe this! Sapnap has- whoa what happened to Phil?" Said blonde waved at them from his spot on the bed, an apple in his mouth and his wounded back exposed to allow the wings to grow without hindrance.
"Oh he's just growing wings, don't worry about it. What were you saying?" "He what?!" Phil began to laugh, the shocked faces far too entertaining to take the situation seriously. He regretted it immediately and groaned as he felt sharp pain shoot up his spine. "Only thing that sucks is *wince* that it hurts so much to grow them." "Hold on. Repeat that for a second, you're growing wings?!" "I think I am. We aren't sure about it, but it would match the wounds and pattern..."
The two, now joined by Sapnap, looked both confused and shocked by it. Who wouldn't be, when someone you know just suddenly starts growing new limbs? Techno cleared his throat to grab their attention. "I have a theory about it actually. The longer someone is here in this world, the more they become their Minecraft persona. Phil has been here for almost a month or more, so he's kind of evolving into 'Philza Minecraft' now. If that is true, then I will probably start to grow hybrid stuff too and you guys as well, if you have anything character specific."
"I... I don't know if I like that or not." Dream nodded in agreement while eyeing Phil's back. "Seems very painful." "I think that's just the nature of growing new things... if you just change hair color or get sharper teeth or some shit it won't be as bad." "I honestly don't know how you are still so cheerful with so much pain." Phil grinned and bit off a new piece of his apple. "Just can tolerate more pain now I guess."
"Now back to the topic. You were about to tell us something we won't believe?" "Right! Sapnap had a great idea on how we can get out of here! Why don't we just try to beat the game? We've done it so many times, we know how it works! It could be the easiest way home!" The room became eerily quiet. "It can't be that easy... right? Just defeating the dragon and the leave?" Tommy looked in between everyone, while Techno just looked over at Phil, trying to see whether or not he agrees with it as well. The blonde had a grim expression on his face as he stared at the half eaten apple in his hands.
"No... there has to be another way." All eyes were on him now, he knew that. "Another way? Like what? The only way to beat Minecraft officially is the dragon fight." "Trying to beat the game that way is suicide, we can't risk it." "But..." "But what? We can barely handle Creepers and Skeletons. You think we could take on a dragon? Or even the Nether, with lava seas and Ghasts everywhere? We can't beat the game like we would usually do, it's too dangerous." Before anyone could stop him, Sapnap slammed his hands on the frame of the bed and leaned down, glaring.
"And what do you suggest we do huh 'Minecraft expert'? Spend the rest of our life here surviving like you in your precious hardcore worlds and never see home again?! I thought especially you would want to go home and be with your wife!" Phil didn't flinch, he just looked tired. Brian shrieked and landed in front of Phil, wings flared out protectively, but Sapnap barely acknowledges the bird as he stared at Phil. "I don't want to lose anyone on the way there." "I'd rather die trying to get home than barricade myself in here and hide like a coward. Unlike you, going home is more important to me than collecting a bunch of stuff and build a stupid fortress!"
Suddenly he was grabbed by the back of his shirt and ripped away from the bed, just to stare in furious red eyes. "Get the fuck away from him." He stumbled back and fell on his ass, staring up at Techno who had placed himself between him and Phil. "Have you lost your mind? Threatening someone who can't defend himself? If you want to die so badly, you can take armor and weapons and go on your little suicide mission, but don't start to pull others into your shit."
They didn't know what was more threatening, Techno openly swearing like that or the way too calm and monotone way he spoke. "Phil is right. You really think in our current condition we could go after something as dangerous as the dragon? And even if we had the weapons and armor, here it is intelligent and will actively go after prey and attack, not just have an AI circle the island and attack you every now and again. If we really want to do this, we would probably need months of training beforehand and even then we could easily get overwhelmed."
"So you just want us to sit here and wait? We will never get home that way!"
"We will think of something. Either a new plan or a way to do this more safely. But for now, especially with Phil in his current condition, we have to stay here."
"The world doesn't revolve around Phil you know. We have to plan for everyone."
"So now you are willing to ignore an injured team member for your personal gain. And I used to think so highly of you."
"That's not what I said!"
"It's what I'm hearing."
"You are just agreeing with everything Phil says like he's some sort of almighty being! Get your own opinion!"
"Oh you're such an-"
"STOP!" Tommy's plea came to late as a fist collided with a nose. Sapnap shrieked as he held his nose, small droplets of blood slipping between his fingers. "You've been here for less than a day and already try to change the way we handle things! How about you let the people who have actually survived here for weeks tell you what's save to do and what not!" Sapnap snarled and tried to get back at the taller man, but got grabbed by his arms and held back. "Let me go Dream!" The grip on his arms only tightened as he pulled him back more. "That's enough. Let's all calm down and talk like normal people."
Sapnap struggled against Dream's grip, but the other had already gained enough strength to easily keep him still. "Please Sap..." He struggled for a second longer, but decided to stop when seeing that Tommy was pulling on Techno's arm and trying to calm him down too. "Maybe we should go back to our own house and talk about this later. Give each other some space." Without actually waiting for an answer Dream had begun to drag Sapnap out of the room. "I'm sorry... I don't know what suddenly got int him. He was fine when we ate breakfast." "It's alright. Just go." George nodded and left through the door, closing it behind him.
"Techno." He sighed and turned to Phil, who still looked defeated and tired. "That was uncalled for and you know it." "He threatened you." "He was just angry. You think I wasn't just as desperate to get home the first few days?" Techno huffed and crossed his arms. Tommy next to him looked like he saw a ghost, wide eyes and a bit pale. It did made Techno feel a little bad for just attacking someone right in front of the kid, especially since he has never actually done that before. "I'm sorry... didn't mean to scare you."
"You didn't have to attack him!" "I know..." "Then why did you do it?" "I don't know... it just kinda happened when he threatened Phil." "He wasn't really threatening me mate." "I know... sorry." He had a small idea on why exactly he did it, but he didn't want to acknowledge that one yet. If it was true, then living with other people might become a problem for him. "Promise you won't do it again." He will probably do it again... especially if his idea was right. But the way Tommy looked up at him with big eyes, obviously scared about anyone getting seriously hurt... he can't tell him that. "I'll try okay?"
The teen looked a bit skeptical, but seemed to accept the answer as he settled back down in his mess of a pillow and blanket next to Phil's bed. Phil still looked at him, his head slightly turned to the side. "You okay Tech? You seem a bit out of it." "Yeah. Just a bit confused with myself..." The blonde nodded and patted he free spot on the bed, which Techno gladly took. The awkward silence started to fade into murmured talks about any topic that would distract them from what just happened.
The two houses didn't interact with each other until the evening of that day. Not because of anger, but out of confusion. What suddenly happened to even spark an argument like that? It seemingly came out of nowhere with no real reason as to why exactly this had been something to get violent over.
In the end Techno decided to own up to his mistake, after a long conversation with Phil about it, and walked over to the other house. This is gonna be awkward and he knows it, but they have to talk it out at some point if they want this group to function and work together. So he took a deep breath, sighed and knocked on the door. George was the one to open it and seemed rather surprised to see him. "Does he want to talk?" "I... he's definitely a lot more calm now, so there is a good chance he might." George stepped to the side and allowed Techno to enter the house.
Sapnap sat on his bed, his nose still a bit red but apparently not broken. Would have surprised Techno, since he doesn't really have the physical strength to break a nose unless he got some lucky punch in. Dream sat across from him with Blade in his lap. "Sapnap." "Technoblade." He didn't look at Techno as he leaned against the wall behind his bed, arms crossed. "Did Phil finally talk you into apologizing?" "No, I'm here on my own accord. But if you just demand an apology from me I can just leave again."
Sapnap huffed, only to grumble in protest when Dream threw a pillow at him. His mask was a little scuffed right now since he had quickly thrown it on when he heard a knock on the door. "Be nice. We talked about this." "Fine..." "Look. I can understand you are mad, I would be too if I just got punched in the face. And I'm sorry I did, it was uncalled for. I don't know what in me snapped when you got so close to Phil..." "It's fine. I don't know why I got so angry. It's more than logical that we can't go after the dragon now. Though your punch was still fucked up."
Techno nodded and awkwardly leaned against the door frame. "So... we're cool?" "Sure. Just don't do it again I guess." "I'll try... be careful around me. I'm protective over Phil right now and that seems to make me snap easily." "I mean... as normal as being protective over someone that is injured is, you are taking it to an extreme." "I told you I don't know why it's so bad. Just be careful okay?" They nodded after exchanging a questioning look and Techno took that as his queue to leave and return to his own home now.
What a weird day...
