~CHAPTER THREE~
Dedicated to you, yes you. Thank you for reading❤.
-APRIL'S POV-
I succeeded in removing my wedding dress and I entered the bathroom. Everything here is breathtaking including the bathtub. It looked like those type of bathrooms I see in movies. The walls were painted white, matching with the color of the bathtub.
Dad's house is nothing compared. After the soothing shower, I wrapped myself with a towel and stepped out. I rummaged through by bags and pulled out a jeans short and a grey crop top.
I stepped out of the room and I was greeted by an empty and lonely hallway. I suddenly remembered that I didn't know my way around.
I began to walk in any and every direction. Seriously it sucks when you have a jerk as a husband. My stomach grumbled loudly and I remembered I hadn't eaten since morning.
You might ask if I were fasting?
No I just felt like it.
The clasping of knives with plates and hushed whispers were coming from the door in front of me after a long frustrating walk. I peeped inside and saw three ladies doing their business in a place I assumed to be the kitchen.
The fair complexioned lady was chopping some carrots on the board. There were also chopped green beans and pepper by the side indicating that she had done justice to them.
The second lady was not as fair as the first. She was mixing something in a bowl. The third lady just leaned against the counter watching the two with utmost concentration.
'She must be the chief maid' I thought to myself.
She suddenly turned to my direction and was startled, that was when my presence was noticed. I had been standing by the door with my hands folded and leaned one side of my arm against the door.
"Good evening madam" She greeted and bowed making the other two snap their heads towards my direction and they immediately did the same thing by greeting.
"You can call me April" I answered passing them a smile.
"No madam we can't address you as such." The supervisor said making the other two to nod their heads in agreement.
I raised a brow. These maids were weird they kept using sign languages.
"Why is that?"
"You are the masters wife and obviously our madam" She countered.
"I still insist. Alright for now your master is not home so you can address me by my name until he comes back" I reassured them.
"No madam, we are sorry we can't" she stated. Here I was thinking I had finally convinced them, they were definitely like their master.
I ignored them walked into the kitchen. I had better things to deal with other than engaging in a blindness argument with these maids.
I sighted the fridge at one end of the kitchen and pulled out a cocktail drink. I poured some contents into the glass and gulped down the entire liquid in one breath.
I walked to the dinning table in the kitchen and settled in while gulping down my juice.
The maids had gone back to their work, they were all behaving like robots.
"I am starving. Is there food?" I asked no one on particular. What I'm I even saying? Of course there will be food.
"Yes madam" I rolled my eyes. The voice belonged to the lady who was chopping carrots earlier.
"What do you have?" I laughed inwardly at my statement, like I'm in some sought of restaurant.
"Madam everything and anything" she replied gesturing with her hands. These girls were sure robots because they kept bowing and talking like one. I repeated the part of 'everything and anything' to my self.
"Jellof rice and plantain" I finally made a choice. Soon I was staring at the mouth drooling meal in front of me. She placed the chicken in a separate plate, just the way I liked it.
I had eaten to a reasonable extent and I could now talk.
"What's your name? " I asked the lady I assumed to be the supervisor.
"Emily ma" she answered and motioned to the other girls to do a proper introduction.
"Madam, I am Mabel" that was the dark complexioned that was mixing something in a bowl earlier.
"Madam, I am Teni" The fair complexioned and obviously she was the prettiest.
I just nodded my head when each of them mentioned their name. After I was done eating, I started walking out.
"Good night you all" I spared them a backward glance.
"Good night madam" They all answered at once. Ugh Robots.
I felt lonely lying alone on this king sized bed and in this large room. If Jordan were here at least
I would have company not that we would engage in a conversation or anything, just that feeling of safety. I decided to ring Irene though I found it hard because I didn't want her pity.
"Hey babes"
"Hey, what's wrong?" her voice was laced with concern. I'm sure she was surprise to receive my call on my wedding night.
"Nothing. Can't I call my best friend again" I tried to sound normal but within, I was broken.
"Some one is already missing me oo" she teased and chuckled lightly. This girl is crazy.
"Don't give yourself too much credit" I snorted. I could picture out her disappointed face.
"How is Jordan?" Her voice came out rather too awkward asking about him.
"He's fine" I lied and it sounded rather too absurd.
"April you haven't told me the reason you called me on your wedding night"
Irene surely knows something is wrong and calling me April meant seriousness.
"It's not like it's some sought of love marriage" I replied sarcastically and rolled my eyes.
"Come on bestie, What's wrong?" I guess I just have to tell her.
"Jordan traveled" my life is really pathetic.
"Traveled ke? Jordan that I saw today" she sounded surprised.
Why is this girl making things difficult?
"You heard me" I answered frustratedly.
"I am so sorry baby"
"For?" the last thing I need now is pity.
"What you're going through, Jordan is a total jerk"
The way she said it made me laugh. He is even more than a jerk. I can't believe I'm here gossiping about my husband, chai!!
"I will be fine, please can you come over to the house tomorrow? I need company, just the maids and I are in this mansion" I pleaded.
"Sure as long as Jordan doesn't have a problem with it, expect me by noon" I knew I could always count on her. We talked for a while before I hung up.
I rummage through my bags and picked out my PJ. I haven't unpacked yet guess I'll do that tomorrow.
After changing into my PJ, my phone beeped indicating that I had a new message. I opened it.
"Hey babes" Gosh!! it's from Josh. Josh was my closest friend in highschool.
" Hey Josh, long time"
" I'm good. April you actually got married and didn't care to inform me? I guess I over hyped my importance in your life"
Seeing those words come from Josh broke my heart. He was more like a male bestie .
I didn't inform him because this was not the type of wedding I wanted and dreamt of. Infact none of my friends were told.
Truth is that I was ashamed to tell Josh about it. How would I start?
'Josh I am getting married to Jordan Scott to save my family' or 'Dad got into a deal with Jordan and was duped so I am marring him to save dad'
It doesn't make sense!!
'Josh will always understand' my subconscious said, maybe it's true anyways.
I just starred at the message. I didn't have a reply at the moment.
I won't even ask how he got to know because the wedding was all over the news and magazines.
I switched off my phone and placed it on the night stand. I felt kinda scared now not that I use to sleep with Adrian but I was new to this environment.
-Jordan's POV-
I watched as her dad walked her down the aisle. I could tell she was pretty even though the veil covered her face. I never made wrong choices.
Her gaze was fixed down all that while and I could sense her innocence. She shivered at my touch when our hands made contact.
A smug smile crept on my lips as I felt my impact on her. She looked strikingly beautiful in person than in picture with pretty eyes.
Her gown was hand less giving me a better view of her upper chest. Her dark skin glowed under the transparent veil.
"......... April Beacroft do you take Jordan Scott as your beloved husband? " the priest asked the usuals. His voice boomed in the hall at the moment as the guests were quiet.
"I do" April finally answered after a some minutes. At some point I thought she would reject me on the altar or run away. That thought alone scared me to my bones.
she knew better not to dare Jordan Scott, else her entire family will spend their lives in jail. No one messes with me.
"Jordan Scott do you take April Beacroft to be your beloved wife?" came his voice again.
"I do" I said almost immediately. I do, to staring at her beautiful face every day but my reason was not enough. Just pretty eyes? I mean there are a tone of girls out there with pretty eyes. Guess I can't explain my decision to myself.
When I realized that Darren Beacroft had broken our deal by not fulfilling his own side, I went nuts. Though he told me his company got duped but I wouldn't take that crap.
I should have just killed him, sent him to my jail or the Nigerian prison but I decided to try something new this time or hurt him in a different way.
I had Aaron my PA conduct a search about his family and I learnt everything I needed from him. I concluded that taking his daughter would be a better way and here we are at the altar.
I couldn't explain my reason for this marriage because I don't believe in forever with women.
I should have made her my mistress but when Aaron presented me with her pictures all I saw was a beautiful, strong and fearless lady. A perfect match for Jordan Scott.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife" the priest exclaimed and the crowd cheered in excitement.
I had earlier told the priest to skip the kissing part because you don't kiss people anyhow and without their permission.
I took her hands in mine and we both walked to our reserved chair, her palm was soft and a bit moist. I felt like a law of attraction bonded my coarse palm and hers . A lot of guests came to congratulate us but most of them we're my business associates.
I guessed Mr Darren didn't invite most of his relatives since this wasn't his dream wedding for his daughter. not like I care.
Nicole came to inform me that my business partner just came into town and will be leaving towards evening. It required that I needed to sign our deal.
I groaned inwardly. 'not on my wedding day'. At least Ian had told me to be a gentleman for once but now I guess I don't have a choice. I nodded instead. she understood and walked away.
After the wedding reception, the driver drove into my mansion and I instructed one of the guards to take April to my room while I drove out.
After signing the deal with Mr Harry, he informed me that there were new and better products other than the ones he was meant to supply to my company but I 'll have to follow him to Japan to see for myself. I requested to go in a weeks time.
I just f*cking got married. 'Why is this man being my barrier'
He insisted we would go this evening because a lot of customers were luring around the international market.
When I got to my room, April was sprawled on the bed sleeping. I wanted to inform her of my sudden trip so I just wrote a note and placed it on the night stand.
I picked few of my clothes and threw them in a suitcase and handed it over to Aaron.
I would have gone with Nicole but it was weekend and I don't like to inconvenience my female workers during the weekend.
Aaron is a full time bachelor and also a friend. He loves traveling for business trips like this with me .
I had this nostalgia feeling to stay back with April but no, work comes first before any Woman in my life.
It helped me out of my depression a long time ago.
