Chapter 5: Percy's POV

Me: *Runs away and hides*

Readers: New Chapter! New Chapter!!!!

Me: *Writes a new chapter*

Me: *Runs away and hides*

This chapter contains some Percabeth love and a twist.

Let's get going!!

I wake up and shield my eyes from the bright sunlight entering my cabin. I thought I had closed the curtains last night, but it appears I didn't. I must've forgotten after spending a few hours on the beach with Annabeth. We talked, and kissed, and talked some more, and kissed some more. (hint, hint. Guess which one of us did most of the talking: Her. Guess who did most of the kissing: Me.) Guilty! The harpies literally had to chase us in my cabin, where we both collapsed on the floor in fits of giggles. We talked some more before I crawled into my bed and fell asleep with her lying on the floor next to me...

Oh gods! Annabeth! I lean over to check if she is still there. She is curled up hiding the pillow like a stuffed animal, with her hair strewn over her face. I smile, because I love when she looks like that. I love her all the time, but I love her here, too. As if reading my thought, Annabeth opens her eyes and looks up at me. She says, "What are you looking at?"

"Well good morning to you too, Thank you very much." I say.

"You know, you could be very smart if you weren't such a Seaweed Brain." Annabeth says.

I feign being offended, and respond by saying, "That hurts!!!"

Annabeth laughs and taps my forehead, before standing up and stretching. When she stretches, her shirt comes up, exposing her belly button. I reach out and tickle her. She looks at me with her beautiful eyes, and I plant a kiss on her cheek. Annabeth gives me a small smile and then walks out of my door with a smile and a wave.

I get dressed in my standard Camp Half-Blood orange t-shirt. I pull on a pair of khaki shorts, and slip Riptide in my pocket. I make sure my bead necklace is securely fastened, and count the beads. I have been at camp for 8 years, and this would be my 9th year. I take one last look at my cabin, and here a horn blow. That means cabin inspection. I look out my window, and see that the a) the cabin inspector is starting on the other side, and b) Annabeth is the inspector. I hurriedly clean up the floor where Annabeth slept, I make my bed, and tidy up the floor. By the time Annabeth gets into my cabin, it looks much better.

She comments on my cleanliness (for once), before making a few marks on her clipboard and walking out. Another horn blows signaling breakfast. We all run to the dining hall, and Jason, Nico, and I all sit at the Big 3 table. Because there is only 1 person in Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus cabin, we all sit at the same table. For breakfast, I order up blue pancakes, blue syrup, blue butter, blue chocolate chips, and blue Coke. Nico looks at my collection of blue food, before ordering up black waffles. Instead of waffles colored black, he gets black waffles. In other words, so burned, they are black.

Jason looks at me, and I see it in his eyes. One glance, and we both burst out laughing. I almost bust a gut laughing, before I control myself enough to sputter out a few words. "Burned.... Not black.... Only burned.... Hahahahaha!!!!"

Nico makes a face at me and Jason, before calling up regular waffles. I, being the wonderful friend I am, I call up bright pink waffles, and Jason, copying me, calls up neon green waffles. We present them to Nico, and I speak diplomatically.

"Nico, as a token of our regret for laughing at you, we are providing you with not burned waffles in your favorite colors of hot pink and neon green. We hope you accept our peace offering and not kill us."

Nico made another face, before resuming the eating of his waffles. I see Annabeth out of the corner of my eye, and once we are dismissed from breakfast, we walk together to our first elective. We are both coaching the sword-fighting class, and so we usually end up showing the campers by sparring with each other. We always relieve stress this way, and it helps us show them what not to do when one of us makes a mistake.

Once we get to the arena, each of the campers grabs a sword, a helmet, and a shield. As always, I use Riptide, and Annabeth uses her dagger. She grabs a shield, and I check my watch from Tyson, and push the button to transform it into my shield. I prefer using items that are inconspicuous. I mean, who suspects a 18 year old boy with a ballpoint pen and a watch? I mean, that is the perfect cover story. And, other people can be all, he hit me with his ballpoint pen!! What?!?! Who uses a ballpoint pen?

Annabeth and I assume our starting positions, and when I give the start signal, she charges at me. We go at it for a few minutes, parrying each others strikes, and showing the campers. Annabeth comes at me, but stops short, her dagger a few inches from my chest. She drops to the floor and doubles over coughing. I call time officially, so the campers know what it looks like, before rushing over to Annabeth. One of the campers runs out of the arena, and within minutes, he is back, breathing heavily, but with Will Solace by his side. In the time it took to get Will, Annabeth has stopped coughing and started breathing hard. Her breathing then slowed and she seemed to fall asleep. Solace takes one look at Annabeth and whistles loudly. Nico comes in carrying a stretcher, and looking incredibly bored. But once he sees Annabeth, he drops the stretcher, and rushes over to Annabeth. Solace goes and picks up the stretcher, and rolls Annabeth onto it. I usher the campers out of the arena, and go back to help Solace.

After much grunting and lifting, the 3 of us, (Will, Nico, and I) manage to get the stretcher up. We walk her to the infirmary, before sliding her onto a bed. It is only then that Nico sees the label on the stretcher. "Hovering and Levitating Stretcher. Press blue button to activate and red button to deactivate. Do not carry, always use the hover function." Nico reads aloud to us, and Will groans.

"I should've read the instructions!" He yells.

As if hearing Will yell, Annabeth, still unconscious, rolls over and grunts. Will puts his hand on her forehead, and lets out a yelp. He runs for the thermometer, and, running it over Annabeth's forehead, yelps again. He shows me the thermometer screen, and I read it a few times, finally grasping why he was yelping. The screen read 108. She had a 108 degree fever, and the heat made her pass out. Will looked at me, a questioning look in his eye. I nod once, and then turn to Annabeth. Even though she can't see me or kiss me back, I give her a quick kiss on the lips, before rushing out of the infirmary.
