3rd Person
[Thank you @Sokeefe_Sienna for your comments!]
"Don't tell me we have to go through that." Keefe groaned. Sophie elbowed him in the ribs.
"Ro, Woltzer. Can you guard this entrance for us? And Sandor, Grizel, go back upstairs. The Neverseen might get us from behind." Sophie ordered. A born leader, Percy mused. She would be a valuable part of Camp Half-Blood.
"Of course, Ms. Foster." The goblins chanted. Ro rolled her eyes.
"Enough with the formality, the badass guys could get here any moment." Ro sharpened her claws with her dagger and turned on her heel, Woltzer tailing behind.
"This way." Hazel instructed, climbing into the hole. The demigods and elves crawled through the dark tunnel, Hazel occasionally whispering instructions here and there.
"Are we nearly there yet?" Keefe complained.
"Shut up, Keefe." Biana snapped. "One of us might die today, and it's not the time to be joking around." That shut him up. The awkward silence continued until Dex broke it.
"Who do you think will die, Biana?" He whispered. Biana avoided his gaze.
"Well, a lot of us might get hurt." She muttered, obviously thinking of the showdown she had with Fintan and Vespera.
"I won't let them hurt any of you," Percy growled. "If it's the last thing I do." Sophie held back a shudder. The bloodlust in Percy's voice was getting more and more ominous.
After that, none of them said a word. Sophie decided to count the seconds in her head.
319 passed before the tunnel sloped sharply downwards.
"Watch out—" Hazel warned, but everyone slid down the slope before she could say anything else.
"Oof, my stomach." Keefe moaned, turning a bit green. Sophie huddled closer to him and transmitted calming thoughts like she did before on the boat with Lady Cadence.
"THIS IS AWESOME!" Leo hollered.
"Shh!" Annabeth slapped him in the face. "This is supposed to be undercover!"
"Sorry." Leo grimaced, and then landed hard on his behind.
Ow..." Everyone muttered incoherently as they recovered from the fall.
"Um, guys?" Tam pointed to the room they arrived in. "We're here." The room was huge, and it looked like a beehive. Dozens of pinkish goldish membranes were in the honeycomb-like holes in the wall, taller than Percy himself. The hive was dimly lit, and the trolls inside could be seen wriggling around. Sophie gagged, as did many others.
"What the Hades are those things?" Will scrunched up his nose.
"Newborn trolls." Fitz replied, looking at the creatures in disgust. "I thought the hive was destroyed, but apparently, we were wrong."
"The model of the room is designed to be hidden." Annabeth pointed at the walls, which were dome shaped. "We need to kill these trolls before they wreak havoc on the Lost Cities."
"And before they reach the human world." Nico added. "These things look like they could destroy the world.
"Well, then? What are we waiting for?" Percy tried to swing at the nearest membrane, but two figures materialized into the room.
"Not so fast, Perseus." A cold voice ordered.
"It's Percy." He automatically corrected. Annabeth dragged a hand down her face.
"Not the right time, Perce." Wylie muttered as a shiny dome surrounded Percy, Keefe, and Sophie. They were trapped.
"Fintan? Ruy? Long time no see." Sophie grumbled. "Although, I'd much rather prefer you two in prison."
"Gisela would like to take care of these three, thank you very much." Fintan ignored Sophie's comment and waved his hand away. "The others aren't needed.
"I am offended." Leo crossed his arms. "Percy and Sophie are always the ones who get all the fun."
"What about me?" Keefe whined.
"Shut up, you two." Marella ordered.
"Ah, my dear prodigy." Fintan grinned from below his cloak.
"Yeah, not nice to see you, Finny." She spat. Fintan frowned at the nickname, but otherwise didn't react.
"Marella? Shall we?" Leo pointed at the stirring newborn trolls.
"Of course." Marella and Leo both grinned identically and called down flames to spark in their hands.
"You cannot kill fire with fire, my prodigy." Fintan crowed triumphantly. Marella was shocked. Was Fintan this stupid? Maybe it was his Ancient mind working things up, but it couldn't be that deep, could it?
"Yeah, but we can kill trolls with fire." Leo ignited the nearest troll, and it burned up quickly.
"Stop them!" Fintan barked, and two other figures came up from behind them.
Static immediately filled the room.
"Lightning." Sophie snarled.
"Who else would it be?" She asked smoothly. Wylie and Tam were working silently in the corner, trying to break the force fields.
"Too bad I'm here, Lightning McQueen." Jason held out his hand and all the static ceased in the room.
"I've taught you well, Sparky!" Percy yelled from his clear prison. Jason rolled his eyes but still smiled.
"Who are you?" Fintan demanded.
"Funny, who's asking?" Annabeth asked sweetly and aimed her dagger towards Fintan, and he dodged clumsily.
"Guys! Let's fight stuff!" Leo shouted and all chaos broke out.
Not the primordial, the general idea of chaos.
Percy grinned. It was like an entertaining live show, only ten times more fun. If only he had some blue popcorn nearby...
"Gah!" He yelped as a massive claw protruded from the membrane behind him. Ruy noticed this and made the force field cover the baby troll, trapping Percy with the violent monster.
"About time!" He picked up Riptide and brandished it in a deadly arc. "I was getting bored over here." The troll roared and pounced. Percy dodged, not knowing where to go. Ruy was slowly making the dome shrink.
"Dam you, Ruy!" Percy cursed and swung Riptide at the creature's chest. It snarled, the thick skin making Riptide bounce off.
Percy winced as he came into contact with the force field. It felt like getting electrocuted into a wall.
"Take this!" He threw his sword at the force field, which bounced back twice the speed and impaled the baby troll in the face. It roared in pain and collapsed, unmoving.
"Welp, that was easy." He retrieved the sword from the face of the troll and looked around. His friends were quickly gaining the upper hand, overpowering the four members of the Neverseen. Sophie, who was free, was slashing so many things at once that her hands were a blur, while Linh smashed the trolls into a pulp with torrents of water. Tam and Wylie were working on freeing Keefe, while Biana was disappearing and reappearing, stabbing the trolls nimbly in the back, and occasionally slashing at one of the Neverseen. Leo and Marella were working in perfect sync, burning the trolls to death with the help of Dex's technically improved dagger and sucker puncher.
And of course, the demigods were killing stuff like they always did.
"In your face, ugly!" Keefe aimed a goblin throwing star at a troll's forehead, landing right on target. It howled and staggered, lashing out blindly.
Lightning stumbled up to Percy's force field, a murderous gleam in her eyes.
"This is not the end, Percy Jackson." She hissed. The force fields flickered away, but before Percy could move, she shot a dart at his shoulder.
"What the Hades—?" He stumbled, feeling the familiar feeling of poison coursing through his veins, slow, but sure.
"Goodbye, Perseus." She cackled like an insane person and light-leaped away. Percy fell to his knees, clutching his shoulder as the world spun before him. He squeezed his eyes shut as a dull throbbing pounded through him and focused on breathing.
In, out.
In, out.
In, out.
"Percy!" He faintly heard the cry of Annabeth and looked up warily, his sea green eyes full of pain before collapsing into darkness.
