Chapter 10
(A;N: I went through the chapters and edited them a bit. Basically, rather than the previous theme, me and Rachel live together now in a flat because we are to cool to live alone, muhahaha~! I also corrected some stuff, added more things in and just did a 'spot clean' of sorts. As always, thank you for reading and for your comments, votes and fans! To this day, they still make me smile and giggle like an idiotic schoolgirl!)
Sunday
"Nooo! How could I loose that was a great card! Hell, that was my best card yet!" I yelled, nearly slamming my hands on the keyboard which would have resulted in me leaving the game
"These people have no sense of humor!" Rachel groaned, face planting the desk. "I bet there's an alliance!" In the panic of loosing Cards against Humanity to a bunch of 12 year old's who all picked each others cards, the phone rang.
"Where are you?" Mai asked, as what I assumed to be cars, passed by her. I covered the speaker and turned to Rachel.
"Were we suppose to be somewhere today?" She shrugged, scrolling down tumblr and laughing at the Supernatural GIFs.
"Who's on the phone?" She asked.
"Mai." I said, and then I clicked. "We're just coming!" I replied, running out the door, following Rachel's lead as we went to go meet Mai at the corner.
"Morning!" She laughed upon seeing us storm down the street at lightning speed.
"Hi!" We said as we headed towards the van, where a sleeping Naru was found.
"Did you stay here overnight?" Mai asked, as he stirred from his slumber. Naru nodded.
"Are you homeless, or lazy?" Rachel asked, frowning.
"You do realize, you could have asked to say at ours, or got a room at a hotel." He looked at us, shocked and slightly confused.
"What?! We're nice people!" I shouted defensively.
"Morning!" A masculine voice called out, and we saw the rest of the gang, aside from Masako and glasses. "Someone had a rough night!"
"Someone trying to leave early!" Ayako sneared.
"I'm leaving because I've solved the case!"
"Nooo!" I cried out "Gibe gajima!!" I said, quoting G-Dragon, like a boss. "Told you I could speak Korean!" I smirked. Naru ignored the chatter and turned the computer screen to show us his data. (A/N: Well that sounds a bit suggestive. Your welcome, Naru fans! XD )
"The house is sinking. It sank 0.2 inches just last night," Naru clarified, to which everyone was shocked. "It's called-"
"Land subsidence!" Me and Rachel said, to which Naru glared.
"Here." Rachel said, handing Naru a lime. He looked at her, at a loss for words.
"We stole your limelight. Sorry!" She said, before bursting out in tears of laughter.
"Man, that was good!" I cried, wiping the tears from my eyes. "That was punalicious!"
"Anyway, there's a large aquifer underneath the building, but all the wells are dry.
"So there's essentially a hollow gap underneath the school house, pair that with the weak soil and-"
"Disaster." Rachel finished my sentence. Naru then went into a bunch of mathematical figures to support his findings, which I won't bother you with.
"What about the noises?" Ayako asked.
"The building moving." Naru answered. "We should have the area declared off limits, it could fall any minute."
"I knew it! You can't prove anything!" Cue the return of glasses, who entered the room yelling the place down.
"A floating spectrum may be what's following you." Naru began to put away his cameras and the like, and a sad atmosphere filled the place.
"So your leaving now?" Mai said, sadly.
"Yes. The jobs done."
"Huh, I guess it is..." She whispered. Our shoulders slumped as me and Rachel both felt a sense of despair as the realization that we would most likely never see these amazing people again, settled in. Our faces fell and we felt a strong gaze on us as we failed to crack a joke in the silence like we normally did. I felt a hand on my head as John went to cheer up Rachel.
"Don't be so sad, kiddo." Monk smiled. I frowned, crossing my arms.
"I'm no child! I'm a responsible adult!" I argued and we both laughed as the group made our way outside.
"Man, we didn't even get to see a ghost or anything!" Rachel sighed, stretching her arms out.
"I know, I was looking forward to being proven wrong!" I agreed.
"Korota!" Mai yelled as the glass windows smashed and the whole house shook. The doors started slamming and I was at loss of what to do.
"We need to get out of here!" Monk shouted and we ran outside.
Us girls were consoling Korota, whilst Monk argued with Naru about the causes of the occurance.
"I'm so mad at myself I could throw up!" We heard Naru shout as he strode off.
"Not near me!" Me and Rachel chorused.
When the evening came, it was Monk's turn to attempt an exorcism.
"Are you still buying your boss' explanation?" Ayako scoffed, teasing Mai, who just glared.
"What about you two?" Monk asked, turning to face me and Rachel who were busy revising. We could have stayed at home, but we felt like we would miss out on something spectacular if we did, so we set to revising at the old school house.
"Neutral. We don't believe in ghosts, but sort of want them to be here so..." Rachel concluded, as Monk set off to chanting. When the chanting was up, we followed Monk to return to the others.
"Well, Ayako's exorcism may have been a complete failure, but mine wasn't!"
"Oh snap, the sass is back!" Rachel laughed, as Monk and Ayako began fighting again.
"Shh!" John said, "I can hear something," He pointed to the ceiling, where footsteps were heard.
"Someone's here," Ayako whispered.
"Never..." I sighed. We ran upstairs and...nothing.
"It was just the wind..." Ayako dismissed the noises, to which both Rachel and I rolled our eyes.
"First to ride the bandwagon, first to get off." With that, the crashing footsteps began echoing around the rooms again and we ran, just as we got to the end of the hall, we heard a deafening, girlish scream.
"Mai!"
