Short Story
Just a little short fanfiction I wrote in the car bc it's boring af in here
[Annie's PoV]
I was in the crystal, but I could damn well still use my senses. I had a sort of sixth sense in the bluish, diamond-like material that replaced my sight.
Everything was hued blue, but I could see pretty well with this sense. Scratch that, I could see incredible things. I saw every movement, whether it was a twitch or a swipe of a limb.
And I could feel everything, since my nervous system was connected to the incredibly hard mineral. I could feel the pads of people's fingers and the itchy sensation of the ropes.
I couldn't smell much because the musty dungeon scent was overpowering.
I couldn't taste because nothing was put in my mouth. I imagined that I would still be able to taste sharply, though.
The hearing; the incredible hearing... I could hear everything as if it were being yelled in my ear. My auditory nerves must be incredibly tuned in because of the crystal and my training.
One day, he came down. That intelligent blonde boy. Armin Arlelt. I'd imagine he came down to observe how the crystal worked. However, he wouldn't be able to because of the invincibility of the material.
However, he just laid his hand on my outer shell. I immediately felt the callouses on his fingertips, every ridge in his prints. "I know that you can't hear me," he started, laying his head on my crystal.
Without any hesitation, my nerves registered his hair, which was both wiry and soft. "But I want to say that I look up to you. You have a lot of bravery. You gave up your freedom for what you believe is right.
"You wouldn't let anyone stand in your way. Despite everyone believing you're evil, that's just perspective. You think that what you're doing--whatever it is that you're doing--is right, and won't stop trying to achieve that goal.
"You're a really amazing woman when it comes down to it. You won't stop fighting, will you? I wish I had that kind of bravery."
