5 - Phone Calls and Ice Cream
After working our magic, Melody and I went back to her place and stayed up playing music and dancing around her room like we used to. At about 1 am, Melody got a phone call, we turned off the music. To say that Riley was mad was a massive understatement. She put him on speaker as soon as she answered.
"MELODY! WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL HAVE YOU DONE TO MY CAR?!?!?"
"Less than you deserved, Riley. Put me on to that tramp next to you."
'How'd you know? Where are you?"
"Doesn't matter where I am, and don't worry, I'm not watching you. Just put her on."
"Liv, she wants to speak to you." I could tell that Mel was as shocked as I was that she was with him after everything.
"Hello?" A familiar voice on the other end of the phone, I honestly felt like screaming but Melody just shook her head at me.
"It's me, Melody. I'm just letting you know that you're lucky that I still have the slightest shred of respect for you. Otherwise you would be off worse."
"What? You better not have done anything to my car.. or my house."
"Don't worry, I figured that you weren't worth the trouble." With that, Melody hung up and immediately burt out laughing.
"I was trying so hard not to laugh that whole time."
"Looks like they're going to have to catch a cab."
"I wish they would just catch the train. But he's too poud for that."
"It's good to see you like this again."
"It's nice to be like this again."

It only felt like it had been a couple of a days but before I knew it, the holidays were over and it was time for school *cough* hell *cough* to begin.
"Is there anything I own that doesn't give off the impression that I'm a whale?"
"Abbey, you don't look like a whale. You look knocked up."
"Well that's because I am. Anyway, do I have any clothes that don't make it obvious that I'm preggas? Oh and they can't make me look fat."
"Should we go shopping then? I could use some new clothes too."
"Sure. You got money?" she nodded. "Cool, get in loser, we're going shopping."
"Don't ever quote mean girls like that ever again."
"Why not? Don't you like mean girls?" When she shook her head my jaw literally dropped so far I was afraid it was going to swing off of its hinges.
"It's too, cliché. It's the same as every other high school movie. It's copied off of so many movies."
"Excuse you but I think that you'll find that it is those other movies that have copied off of mean girls." Melody rolled her eyes and got in the car.
Shopping was a surprisingly joyful experience. Until Mel pointed out that I should be shopping in the maternity section. That blew.
"What's so bad about shopping in maternity? Some of the things are cute."
"They show off my bump too much for liking."
"Abbey, stop being stubborn and admit it. You are pregnant. Even in that shirt it's obvious. Own up to it and rock it. It doesn't matter if you're wearing normal clothes or matenity clothes, people are going to know that your pregnant. With the sudden rushing off to the bathroom to puke every two seconds it's not all that hard to work out. Plus, half the school knows thanks to your friends."
"Oh just shut up and take me there."
Melody had to practically drag me to the maternity section in H&M but when I was there, it was hard to not try everything on. Well okay, not everything. Some of the clothes looked awful and like something my mum would wear. Mum. I should be doing this shopping with her. By the look on Mel's face I can tell that I'd said it a loud.
"Mel, don't worry about it. My mum would have me dress in everything past my ankles if I took her with me shopping." But my heart was only half in the joke. "Come on, I've got clothes to buy and so do you."
We ended up buying half the maternity section and a quarter of the normal sections of all the stores in the mall.

That afternoon Melody wanted to say hi to Dan and I wanted to see him again so we met him at, you guessed it Baskin and Robbins. I was craving cotton candy ice cream so bad. When we arrived, Dan was already there waiting for us.
"What is your obsession with this place?" He asked when we entered through the doors into what I honestly classed as the closest thing to heaven.
"I don't know.. I think our baby has a sweet tooth."
"More like you do." He whispered beneath his breath.
"What was that?"
"Nothing. Nothing at all." I proceeded to glare at him for a second before staring in awe at the selection of ice cream flavours.
I ordered a double scoop of cotton candy, in a waffle cone. What? I was hungry.
"Dude, I have never seen you eat that much ice cream.. In history. Is it even healthy?" Melody said to me when we sat down on the little chairs that were provided. I just laughed and said that it probably wasn't healthy but I didn't care.
"So, Dan seems upset since I came back, did something happen?.."
"No, he's just sulking about me having moved out. Nothing to be worried about.. Are you ready for school?"
"I'm pretty sure I am. I've got all my books and stationery and stuff.."
"That's not what I'm talking about and you know it. Are you ready for the people?"
"Yeah... no. In all honesty I'm not even sure if I'm going to go back."
"You can't not graduate Melody! You wouldn't be able to go to uni, what about the future?"
"I don't care about the future Abbey. I can't stand even the thought of sitting in a classroom surrounded by people who I hate, and then they try to sympathise with me. They didn't care about me before, why should they care about me now? Besides, I can get special consideration due because of what happened."
"I will look after you. You know that. Come on Melody. Please? At least consider it."
"I guess I could... Consider it at least."
