4 - That's How You Know
The plan was awful. It honestly was, but Riley deserved it. Melody and I went to the hardware store to get what we needed. It wasn't exactly cheap but honestly it was all worth it. We were going to get some revenge on Riley.
"So when is the grand plan going to take place?" Melody had perked up since I'd told her the plan. She was getting really into this whole idea. We had packed everything into the car and were now driving to my favourie Baskin & Robbins. Ice cream fixes everything.
"Tonight, like any badass cliché movie has taught you, things like this need to be done under the cover of darkness." She laughed. It was nice to hear her laugh like that, not forced or fake but a genuine laugh. I was starting to feel as if I had my friend back.
"He is going to be so pissed."
"Point A: When do you say words like 'pissed'? My baby is growing up. Point B: We don't care if he's going to be pissed anymore. He's a stupid little mahwhore, so he's going to pay for it."
"You're right. It's just hard to get over thinking about whether or not he's happy."
"I know honey. I know, you've just got to think about them as past tense. Take away the good things that you can from it and make sure to prove him wrong."
"I don't like thinking about people in past tense." She looked out of the car window. I suddenly knew we were no longer talking about Riley and the jerk that he is. We were talking about Eliza.
"Honey, if Eliza was here, she'd be egging you on with me. You know that. She'd be proud of you for having the courage."
"I think.. I think she's still here. I know how that sounds, it sounds like I'm crazy girl who refuses to let go but I think she's watching. Like she's sitting on the sidelines watching the game, wishing she could play but knows she can't anymore."
"That's not crazy Mel. It's definitely not crazy.." I hadn't lost anyone close to me but Dan had and he had said the same thing. We arrived at the Baskin & Robbins, chose our flavours and walked to sit on the bench outside the store.
"I don't know if I've ever told you this but this is where I told Dan." Melody said as she looked at the cars driving along the street infront of us.
"Really? I don't think I've ever heard that story to be honest."
"Not much to tell really. He freaked out to begin with, well that's not the best way of describing it. He just needed a moment."
"Did he ever want to leave?"
"No, he always wanted to be with you through this." I smiled to myself, it was good to know that he never thought that he didn't want this baby. Melody continued, "I don't think he would ever let you give that baby up for adoption you know? Even if you didn't want it, he'd raise it by himself. Maybe."
"Maybe.. I think I knew the second I saw the positive pregnancy tests I wanted to keep the baby."
"I still can't believe that you're going to have a baby in what? Seven months?"
"Actually six months."

When night fell, Mel and I donned our black clothing, black battle stripes painted on our faces.. Just kidding, we're not that cliché. It was more like at 9pm we got all of our stuff together and put it in the car. We did a last check of the stuff to make sure we had everything we needed. When I knew that we were all set, I took out my bright red lipstick and did two battle stripes on each of Mel's cheeks, then the same on mine.
"Is that really necessary Abbey?"
"What? Don't you want to be a badass rebel?" She just laughed and got into the car. We were going cause Riley some serious pain. The drive over to his house was a short one but it felt like it had been ages when we drove into the street.
"Damn it!" Melody said as we drove past, I knew what was wrong. His car wasn't there.
"Looks like some little man whore is out whoring around."
"Could you please stop swearing, I think it's going to start rubbing off on me one of these days."
"What? Don't you want to be as fabulous as me?" I added in a wink before realising she wasn't looking at me. "Alright I will. So where would he be? Club?"
"We can try that place a bit further into the city. He loved it there."
"Let's go then." This drive took longer but it wasn't like I minded, this guy deserved it. Plus it would be more embarrassing for him if he was stranded and trying to bring home a girl. I could Riley trying to make a move on some poor girl he scammed at the club on the train back to his place. I couldn't help but laugh, when Mel asked about me laughing, I told her and she joined in with me.
When we got there we found his car parked just outside the club. I don't know cars much but I knew this one was expensive. We got the stuff out of the boot and I opened the can of paint stripper, he's so going to pay.
After we had poured paint stripper all over his car, we then got the pink spraypaint and on the bonnet I wrote This is how you know you f*cked up.
"What does that even mean?" Melody said from behind me.
"Oh honey, haven't you heard the song 'That's How You Know'? It's on the radio like all the time."
"Maybe... No, I've heard 'That's How You Know' but it doesn't have any swearing."
"Oh that's right. Radio stations only play censored stuff. Anyway, well the original song is not suitable for your ears." I stood back and admired our work. I was right, this was fun.
