Chapter-9
I was shocked was an understatement. This newfound secret was too much for me to handle along with mom's sickness. I couldn't believe that at such tender age of fourteen Jeet developed a soft corner for me just because he heard our dads talking about our marriage. It meant he was ready at that age to marry me. I don't know if I should call it silly or cute of him.
Marrying Jeet was something I never thought of but then if that's what my parents want and if that can keep my mom happy, I will do it in the blink of an eye but I couldn't take this decision for both of us. I needed to talk to him.
"Auntie thanks for sharing all of this with me but I can't take this decision alone. I need to know what Jeet thinks about it, after all its both of our lives." I said and auntie smiled.
"Don't worry about Abhi, he never looked at any girl and I know him, you are the only girl in his heart." Auntie said and I was surprised at Jeet. How can someone be like him and think about only one girl whom he hadn't even seen in like 12 years and didn't even know if the girl still remembers him or not of if she had someone in her life or not.
It warmed my heart thinking about it and a little smile along with blush appeared on my face.
"If you say yes then Abhi will be happiest man and I can guarantee you." Shriya auntie said making me blush a little more.
I still couldn't believe Jeet thought that way about me and I never noticed, how dumb of me.
We were discussing things from our childhood when we were together in Amritsar and what happened after we left, when Jeet came back and just at the same time the nurse came to tell us that Mom is awake now and since her vitals were all normal they were shifting her in a regular patient room.
We were relieved and my eyes were wet again thinking my mom took so much tension about my marriage and ended up in hospital rather then sharing with me what she wanted. I would have happily agreed if she told me that's what dad wanted.
After another hour we were allowed to go in mom's room. When we entered her room, she was laid down with few electrodes attached to her body and a glucose drip along with some medication was hanging close to her bed and the tubes were attached to her veins through a cannula. She was awake and looking at us half smiling.
She knew better she will get a good scolding but I didn't have it in me to scold her even though I was angry at the fact that she never told me about her thoughts.
"Mom how are you feeling?" I asked her as I approached her bedside.
"I am fine beta, Sorry I troubled all of you." She said looking at us.
"Shutup Ranjana, you didn't trouble us and you never do. We are family alright." Shriya auntie said looking at mom and they both smiled at each other.
"Mom please never do that again, you know you are the only family I have. You almost gave me a heart attack today. And why didn't you share with me if something was worrying you so much? Am I that bad of a daughter?" I asked her with tears rolling down my cheeks.
"No beta please don't say. You are the best daughter anyone can ask for. I am sorry that I didn't tell you but I will tell you now." She was saying when I cut her off.
"No need now. I know everything and I will do anything you say, you just recover first and then whenever you say with whomever you say I will marry." I said and tried to notice Jeet's expression along with Mom's. Mom's eyes beamed with happiness and Jeet was a little confused and sad.
"Beta I don't want to pressurize you." Mom said and I cut her off again,
"Don't worry mom I am not saying this because of your health or under any pressure. I told you earlier too if I find a good person then I am fine with it and now I know whom you chose for me and I know he will take good care of me." I said and looked at Jeet from the corner of my eye. Now he was smiling like an idiot as if he got some trophy.
I smiled looking at him, mom and Shriya Auntie's happiness. I knew I don't love Jeet right now but I knew he is more than a friend to me and he has the capability of making me fall in love with him. I knew he is the one for me who understands me and my pains and who will take care of my mom like his own.
Finally with my one decision I was able to make all of them happy and I was happy with their happiness.
