Chapter-8

The next few days were very busy for me, conducting dance classes at studio, teaching dance to the family and friends for the weddings we were booked as choreographers for and attending the auditions for the show to select the best participants. In midst of all this I managed to treat Shreyas and Leena to a date where both of them can talk their hearts out with each other and spend time with Auntie and Mom cooking or playing cards.

I and Jeet came close too since now we were working together too. The two weeks of their stay in Delhi were about to end in three days. I was at the auditions with Leena, Jeet, Shreyas and their crew when I received a phone call from Geeta.

I excused myself and took the call knowing it must be urgent else Geeta will never call. The moment she started talking from the other end my hand went numb and my brain stopped working for few minutes. Then I heard someone shouting my name and I realized Geeta was shouting my name from the other end of the line. I told her I am coming right away. I ran inside to pick my purse and then quickly ran towards my car without telling anyone anything. I heard people shouting my name but I didn't care.

I was on my way to hospital when I got a call from Jeet, I told him why I had to leave the auditions and where I am going.

After a dreadful drive of thirty minutes I reached the hospital and rushed towards ICU. I found Geeta and Shriya Auntie there crying. I ran to them and asked where Mom is. Geeta pointed towards the door in front of us.

I was about to enter the room when the room door opened and two doctors with a nurse came out.

"Are you family?" One of the doctors asked me.

"Yes doctor, I am her daughter. What is wrong with her? How is she?" I asked them in one breath.

"Relax and come with us, we will explain everything to you." He said and asked me to follow them to their cabin. I did as I was tensed to know what happened to mom.

As we sat down on the chairs in their cabin they showed me some reports.

"Ms Talwar these are your mother's reports. Mrs. Talwar has been stressing out a lot lately. I saw her reports from last week and she was doing just fine but today when she got here we repeated all the tests. She had a mild heart attack but thankfully she was brought here in time and everything is under control now. But as you know this is her second mild heart attack, we have to be even more careful now then earlier. We need to make sure she is not stressed and there is no emotional or mental shock given to her. Also we need to make sure that she stays happy, the more happy she stays the better her heart will work." One of the two Doctors said and I nodded in agreement.

"I will make sure Doctor to keep her happy, I will do everything in my power to keep her stress free. How is she now? Can I meet her?" I asked the doctor.

"She is under sedatives right now and you can meet her after an hour or two, once she is conscious and in stable with her vitals then we can allow you to meet her. Once she is stable with her vitals after waking up, we will shift her out from ICU to a regular room where you or anyone from the family can stay with her." The other doctor said and I thanked them before leaving the room.

When I reached outside the ICU room where mom was, I saw Jeet standing there too. Shriya Auntie has stopped crying by now and was praying now.

Jeet came and hugged me and that's when I felt like I too have someone with whom I can share my worries and I couldn't stop my tears. I cried for a while before I controlled myself and he just hugged me and let me cry all this while when he said all the right things about everything to be fine soon and mom be hale and hearty in no time.

Once I was calm I pulled out from the hug and went to Shriya Auntie and sat close to her.

"Auntie did mom tell you anything? Was she stressed out about anything? She never showed anything to me but I am sure she must have told you something." I asked her.

"Trisha beta, Ranjana was only worried about you. She just want to see you settled down with a good guy. She has been talking to me about it for few months now and since past week she felt that if something happened to her before your marriage then she won't die in peace. I told her so many times not to think that way and then she was fine the next minute, so I thought it was just occasional worry and nothing serious. That is the reason she kept talking to you about marriage." Auntie said and I couldn't believe that my marriage was so important to her.

"Trisha what did the doctor say? Is Auntie fine now?" Jeet asked sitting close to me.

"Yes, she is fine now, she had another mild heart attack. This was her second and it's very important for her to stay happy and stress-free." And with that I told them what all the doctors told me.

"Don't worry Auntie will be alright and we will make sure to keep them happy. You don't worry about work for a while and stay with Auntie, I will ask my crew to take care of the auditions and Leena to take care of the classes and your other commitments." Jeet said and left to make some calls.

"Trisha beta if you don't mind can I say something?" Shriya auntie asked.

"Yes auntie please ask whatever you want to, you don't need permission, you are like mom to me." I replied and she gave a little smile.

"Beta do you see Abhi as a prospect when you look for your husband?" Shriya Auntie asked.

I didn't know what to reply, Jeet was definitely my very good friend again with whom I never had to hesitate before saying anything but looking at him as a husband I never thought about it.

"Beta since you two were little I, your mom and even your dads, we all thought that once you grow up we would get you both married to each other. Even your and Abhi's father promised each other too that they will remain friends forever and get you two married, I don't know how but Abhi heard them and since then he developed a soft corner in his heart for you. When you left Amritsar he cried a lot for days, much more then he cried on his father's death. I felt that he missed his only best friend who could feel his pain but later I found out he missed you because he thought he will never see you again since your mom couldn't contact us for a very long time.

When I got in touch with your mom last year when she called me, I was surprised too. And then when we started discussing about you two, our age old wish resurfaced and we wanted you two to meet and see if you can bond just like you did years back. And to our expectations you both bonded pretty well. The laughter that was missing from my son's life is back, his smile now reaches his eyes. Your mother and I have noticed how he looks at you so intently and I know somewhere in his heart he still has the same soft corner for you which he created after listening to the promise your fathers made with each other.

That is why Ranjana kept asking you about marriage and if you feel that Abhi could be the one with whom you can be happy all your life, can you give me the honor of being your mom too?" Auntie said holding my hands in her hands and looking at me lovingly.
