Deathbringer stared at Morpha with unfriendly eyes.
There was something so... wrong about her. It was hard to describe. Her eyes didn't help at all.
Even though she looked like Glory, she was older and had this weird vibe about her.
Deathbringer could usually evaluate a dragon from their first impression, and although Morpha's words and actions looked good on paper, something didn't sit right with him.
When Morpha hugged Glory without even asking, that was enough for him.
"No touching the queen," he barked and separated Morpha from Glory.
His queen's body language automatically relaxed, while Morpha's tensed up. The peculiar-eyed dragon ran to the opposite end of the platform in fear and covered herself with her wings.
"Please don't hurt me, I'll do whatever but please don't hurt me!"
Deathbringer blinked a few times in confusion and tilted his head to the side.
"I wasn't planning on it... unless you harm Glory then that's a whole different story. May I say I have a history for violent kills," the NightWing said with a small smirk.
He glanced down and saw that Glory was glaring up at him.
He just gave her an innocent look and bent down to her level.
"Yes?"
She rolled her eyes at him and slowly walked to her cousin.
"I promise he won't hurt you. That's Deathbringer, my annoying bodyguard. He's all growl and no bite," the queen assured with a calm tone.
Deathbringer raised an eye-ridge.
There's so many wrong things in that statement, I don't even know where I should start.
"It's just that... I think he was one of the ones that took me in. To the island. I don't like them. I don't, I don't, I really don't like them."
Deathbringer's face scrunched up in confusion. "I never took part in the RainWing kidnappings. Sure I gave out a few orders but never did any of the work myself. I'm an assassin, the best one at that may I say... again."
Morpha glared at him with an intensity that was unsettling, even when Glory glared it wasn't so... mean.
"So you sent others to do your dirty work," she snapped back with a slight tremble in her voice.
Deathbringer growled and walked up to the new RainWing who had lost all possible chances of becoming a dragon he didn't hate.
"Listen here, Morpha. I do not care if you are now royalty or just Glory's cousin, but do not talk of things you don't know."
Before she could say anything back, Glory stepped in between them and gently pushed Deathbringer.
"I think that's enough for today, you guys get along so well. Nice meeting you Morpha, but if you excuse us, there's a certain SeaWing related situation we have to deal with," his queen said as they prepared to take off.
Deathbringer smiled heroically and happily flew out away from the sun time platform with Glory by his side.
"What in the three moons was that?"
He looked at Glory, whose green eyes were full of question and emotions that were not positive at all.
"What do you mean by 'that', exactly? I was just doing my job," Deathbringer said. He gazed away from her angry eyes and started to look around for Tsunami and Riptide.
"You know exactly what I mean so don't you dare smart mouth me," his queen growled back.
Deathbringer ignored her and focused on beating his wings so that they could reach the other side of the RainWing village, where they would start looking for the SeaWings.
I don't want to fight. I don't want to say things I could regret.
"Great, now you're ignoring me. Just great, perfect even. Whenever someone questions anything you do, you get offended. What a surprise. If we want our relationship to work out we have to talk to each other, you know that right?"
Deathbringer cursed under his breath. She was right, they had to talk. But how could he tell Glory that one of her only family members, who she just met nonetheless, could possibly be a problem?
"Fine, you want me to talk? I'm talking, but you won't like what I say," he said with a low voice, lower than usual even.
He stopped flying and hovered in the air, leading for Glory to the same. They stared at each other in defiance. Both too prideful to say the first word.
The sun's heat was intense, and instead of feeling warm and happy like how it did at the beach, now it felt hot and dangerous.
Glory's scales were shifting from red to orange every few seconds.
That means she's angry and frustrated. That's pretty relatable.
"Maybe I won't like what you say, but I would dislike you even more if you kept it from me," Glory said, breaking the tense silence between them.
Deathbringer rolled his eyes, but again, he saw her logic, and it was frustrating to say the least.
He looked at Glory, the only dragon he would ever bow down to. The only dragon who had succeeded in warming his cold heart. The only dragon he had ever loved since the day he was left alone to kill others for the benefit of his tribe.
Trust, it always comes down to that, doesn't it?
"Okay, so I don't trust Morpha. I don't like her and I don't feel comfortable around her. Those are my thoughts, now throw me back to the volcanic island for having my own opinion if that's what you want," he said with a last huff.
Glory snorted and replied, "If I threw you back into that dump and I stayed here then it would be very hypocritical of me, don't you think?"
Deathbringer raised his eye-ridges in shock. "So you don't trust her either?"
Now it was Glory's turn to roll her eyes. "Of course I don't, she may be related to me but that doesn't mean that I will instantly trust her. Who do you think I am, Blaze?"
Deathbringer sighed in relief, "Thank the three moons."
"Now can we land? Hovering for this long is making my wings ache," Glory complained.
The NightWing ex-assassin nodded but frowned at her in disapproval.
"We need to work on your endurance. What would you do in a situation where-"
"Shut up smug-face!"

Hello everyone!
How are you all? Good, I hope.
And if not, I'm here for anything you may need.
Like I announced, I am pretty much done with school already and have even more time to write.
I even made myself a schedule for myself. Meaning that any day from 2:30-4:00 I will be on Wattpad, writing. Which also means that I will be immediately available to answer messages and the like.
Thanks for your support, I may say this a thousand times but it doesn't mean that it holds less value. It's been a few years now since I joined Wattpad and never would I have thought that I would meet such incredible people.
And hopefully by the end of summer I will have posted another Glorybringer fanfic, this time, human AU. I have a few chapters done, but I want to make sure it's perfect.
Take care everyone!
Okie Dokie
Now I just wanna stay here and fall into midnight
