Glory couldn't believe the NightWings.

Why were they so cruel and harsh? Why couldn't they just accept the happiness of others?

If only someone could just set them in their place...

Wait.

I'm their queen, aren't I?

Mehehehehehe

"Thank you, your little pet is really something," Quickstrike said as she pried the little sloth off her.

"Oh, uh thanks," Glory answered and let Silver climb back on her neck.

"Maybe, in a few days you could find one for yourself to keep, not eat," the queen joked.

Quickstrike smiled halfheartedly.

"As lovely as this place is, Infinity and I weren't meant to stay."

Glory didn't know how to react to that.

"W-what do you mean?"

"I meant exactly what I said," Quickstrike hesitated, "the whole plan in coming to the rainforest was to find Deathbringer and leave."

The queen blinked and stared at the NightWing in front of her.

Quickstrike sighed, "I'm sorry."

She walked to Infinity and Deathbringer, leaving the queen alone with Silver.

Leaving?

But Deathbringer can't leave, he... he's my bodyguard, and boyfriend since two weeks ago.

But if he wants to leave, then...

Who am I to stop him?

I may be his queen, but I can't hold someone against their own will. It would be unfair for him.

Glory's scales finally gave up their purple disguise. Baby blue and grey clashed together in waves of sadness, but this time, Glory made no move to hide them.

Silver, as if understanding her distress, snuggled at the base of Glory's neck and chirped sympathetically.

The queen sadly smiled at her furry pet and let her green eyes fall on her NightWing bodyguard.

Deathbringer looked happy with his mother and sister. They were his blood, and what was she?

Just a failed assassination mission.

Glory felt a strange lump in her throat. She didn't cry very often, but she knew what it felt like.

And she hated it.

The queen held her sobs back and took a few steps back, setting herself further and further away from the consolating family.

Maybe some sun-time will do me good.

Sleeping sounds quite fun just about now.

Glory glanced at Silver, who was already sleeping herself.

Yeah, if a sloth thinks it's a good idea to sleep, then I guess it is.

Quietly, Glory gathered her emotions and tucked them away for later. She changed her scales to camouflage, and slipped away from the scene.

She flew silently to the platforms at the center of the RainWing village until she felt that she could breathe normally.

The sun touched her scales with its familiar, hypnotizing warmth and she felt better. Not by much, but it was a start.

RainWings were settling themselves for their own sun-time, proving that even rowdy NightWings couldn't keep them from their beloved sleep hours.

Being the queen, Glory had access to the highest platform. Usually she wouldn't even have sun-time, but since her mental tiredness was just begging her to escape reality, she flew up to her own little space.

It was weird not having Deathbringer pester her about fake assassins coming after her.

Or not having him distract her with his handsome looks and smug face.

She even missed his flirty remarks and how-

Stop.

Just stop.

Stop thinking about him for minute and focus on yourself. Right now you have to analyze and control your emotions, Glory.

He's not even gone yet and I'm already crying over him. How fun.

The queen sighed and curled up on the hollow dent at the middle of the platform. She closed her eyes and welcomed the embrace of the sun.

Her head went immediately into a daze that helped her fall asleep faster.

Glory dreamed peacefully sometimes, when she didn't have a stressful day or Deathbringer was nearby.

Now, she was sure that her dream was not going to be about dancing, rainbow-colored sloths.

First she was holding onto nothing.

Then Glory was drowning in the ocean. There was a storm and the waves were hitting her over and over, sinking her underneath its angry roars.

Her eyes, lungs, and eyes burned from the salt and as hard as she tried to swim, it was as if something was grabbing her by the ankles and pulling her down.

When she thought it was finally her end, a strong talon wrapped around one of her wrists and pulled her out.

The queen gasped for air, and she realized that she was now on a beach.

There wasn't a storm anymore and Deathbringer was standing in front of her.

He was smirking, but he never said anything.

"D-Deathbringer?"

Still no words from her bodyguard.

Glory shakily walked up to him and waved her talon in front of his face.

He didn't flinch or react to her.

A flash of lighting.

As quick as that, Deathbringer had been vaporized into thin air, leaving nothing behind.

Glory jumped in fright and landed on the sand, but before she could get up it was gone.

She was falling into nothing.

Her wings were useless, she couldn't feel or control them.

So the queen kept falling and falling into the infinite darkness.

At this point, Glory was done. She didn't realize it was a dream, all she knew was that this had been her whole life.

And she was going to die.

She screamed, hoping someone would hear her desperate cries.

Glory was alone.

No one would come to her rescue.

'We weren't meant to stay.'

'The plan was to find Deathbringer and leave'

'I'm sorry'

Glory awoke with the feeling of falling, so she reached out with her talons and her wings extended to try and level herself out.

But there was wood underneath her

So how did I-

Oh.

It was a dream.

A lovely and beautiful nightmare.

Glory shook her head to clear out all the horrible feelings and then realized that she was green.

Every scale she owned was a neon green full of fright.

The queen didn't want others to know what she was feeling, so she breathed in and out to control her emotions.

Slowly but surely, her scales shifted to her favorite combination of colors.

Beetle green, amber, and dark blue.

She reached to her neck, thinking that Silver was still there, but she wasn't.

And now that she finally controlled herself, she saw that she was at the edge of the platform instead of the center.

I must have moved around a lot, so Silver left before I could squash her. Smart.

Glory looked around and decided to just sit and contemplate her wonderful life under the blazing, but happy Mr. Sun.

She definitely didn't want to remember that dream, it was best if she didn't think about it.

There was really nothing better to do. Maybe there were a few queen-related duties, but she was too stressed and tired to deal with them.

Just as she was about to really go into detail if she should just call it quits and join her friends at Jade Mountain, Deathbringer showed up.

Spectacular, just marvelous.

He was flying slowly, almost like he wanted to stall as long as he could.

Glory knew what this was about, her heart told her.

And his solemn face told her as well.

Back with Glorybringer Tuesday!

Don't forget, new chapter every Tuesday!

There's not much going on this week, just that I've been working on the bonus chapters for THOD finally! XD

If you guys could check out Wings of Fire: Flights of Matrimony, that would also be greatly appreciated.

Lemmme think......

No I think that's it for now.

But on personal life, classes for the next school year are coming up and I don't know if I should do something with business or engineering/design. At the same time, I wish I could just write a super famous book and then whala, my whole life is complete like J. I Rowling.

Life is hard.

Okie Dokie

It's morning. I don't like it.
