MAI FELT EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE as she climbed out of her window, trying to make as little noise as possible. She really shouldn't be doing this. Her heart speeding up as she missed her step and fell on the ground. She quickly ran from her house, her heart pounding in her head. She didn't stop running until she was two streets away from her house. She put both hands on her knees and panted, cursing at her friend for making her do this. 

Her phone vibrated in her pocket and she answered it " Yes, I'm out. At which station should I go out exactly?" She ended the call as she entered the subway station, a bit scared. You see Mai had promised her best friend Maria to go to her boyfriend's first gig. Maria had been so thrilled when Mai accepted, she even made her a matching tee shirt for her boyfriend's band called the Vaughaners. 

Mai didn't know much about the Vaughaners, she knew they were a small garage band that played rock music as well as some original songs. Maria had made her listen to their songs and Mai liked some of them. 

Fidgeting with the hem of her purse, Mai looked attentively at the board for her stop. As soon as she saw her stop, she rose up. She took a deep breath as she exited the metro. There was no going back. She has snuck out of her house, if she got caught by her parents she would be grounded for a long time but she had promised Maria. She had strict parents that wouldn't let her go to parties even if she told them that all the other teens who were 15 like her, were allowed to do it. 

She walked in the busy streets twinkling with lights coming from outdoor terraces. People laughing and enjoying drinks as the warm air of the month of May swept through the street. Mai looked on her phone for the address Maria had sent her and approached a small pub. She tried to enter but was refused the right to enter as she was still a minor. 

She sighed and texted Maria. Mai sat quietly on a bench looking at a young couple and in hand. The girl was laughing, probably at something her boyfriend said. Her attention shifted from the happy couple as she heard her name being called. Maria waved at her and hugged her. "What's going on? Why aren't you inside?"

"They wouldn't let me inside, I'm underage do you remember" Mai raised an eyebrow at her best friend. 

Maria chuckled and handed her a tee-shirt, "You should've dressed more maturely" she winked at Mai "how naive of me to think you would dress properly for the occasion. Put this on and I'll help you get inside."

Mai put on Maria's tee-shirt on top of the one she had arrived with. Maria scanned her best friend from head to toe. She took the hair tie of Mai's hair, so her naturally straight hair would fall on her shoulders. She tied a knot on her tee-shirt and tucked in her other inside so a bit of her stomach would show. Mai felt her cheek heat up at her exposed skin. 

Maria chuckled, "Don't worry, it's only a bit of skin. Come let get inside." She took Mai's hand and led her inside the pub.
