Gwen grinned.
"You didn't really think I would believe that half-brained ploy about you going off to marry some king's daughter, did you?" She asked.
Arthur was too shocked to speak.
Gwen placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"You always have friends in Camelot," she said. "But you can also trust in those who you barely know."
"Huh?" Arthur was incredibly confused.
"You need to believe," Gwen said. "Believe that help will come, and it will. Believe in your allies. Believe in your servant's strength. Believe in yourself."
"OK, you're really starting to weird me out, Gwen," Arthur said.
"You have little to fear," Gwen smiled at him. "Hold on, it will become easier, and soon you will be free."
Arthur frowned. "Am- am I dreaming?"
Gwen smiled.
"Is this real?" Arthur pressed, stopping himself from shaking Gwen. "Is it actually happening, or am I enchanted or asleep?"
"Of course you are asleep, but who's to say it isn't actually happening?"
Gwen smiled her beautiful smile one more time before evaporating.
Arthur allowed himself a small smile to himself before he awoke on the cold floor of his cell, an unexplainable flicker of hope kindling in his chest.
