Narrator's POV

Now here they were, the family reuniting after so many years. An event that Giyu never expected to happen, but something that he longed for. 

"G-Giyu? Is that you darling?" Her mother would call to him, to which Giyu only nodded.

Yuriko would run towards his youngest, who was almost twice as tall as she was now. Hugging her as much as she could, you really can't blame a mother for missing her son, especially one who literally disappeared for almost a decade.

"I missed you too mom, you too dad." Giyu would reply to her hug, while he also extends his arms towards his father Haru, who also joined afterwards.

The scene was very touching, especially after Tsutako joined, which just added to the meaningful Tomioka reunion. And yes Sabito joined in, he always joins in hugs.

"Good lord this is touching! I can't believe you guys reunited after almost a decade! I love you guys!" Sabito would cry, hugging the family who chuckled at his antics, Giyu wanting to punt his bestfriend and Makomo already readying herself to drag her husband away from their moment.

The touching moment was seen by Kaito who couldn't help himself and ran towards his family and gave them his famous and absolutely strong bear hug.

"Finally! This is our first family group hug, and Sabito of course but nevertheless welcome back Giyu!" Kaito would happily state, with everyone smiling and chuckling with him.

The family, including Sabito stayed like this for a while. The hug only ending after Kaito released them from his strong grasp.

"Wow! That was the longest group hug we've had yet! Second was the definitely the beach reunion! But I'm sorry for intruding with the very touching family hug but I love hugs! You know me auntie and uncle, I can't help it!" Sabito would commend, with the Tomioka parents just smiling at him.

"I also apologize for Sabito auntie and uncle, he's always like this." Makomo would add, dragging Sabito away from the family and back to the table they were at.

The family could only laugh as they saw Sabito getting dragged, but enough of that, we need to focus on the family first!

Giyu's POV

And so here it is, the moment is done. I'm finally back, and my family is whole again... I'm glad... I really am.

"This definitely calls for a celebration!" My sister would announce after the hug, which I luckily already planned for. Good lord, it was a good idea to buy some food from the food stalls.

I was about to tell them about it when Kaito cut me through it, well it was better to let him explain.

"Oh definitely! Giyu here already went and bought everything we needed, I was about to inform you about it since I finished preparing everything, and I cooked some extra goodies but I got caught up with the group hug! You know me, I like hugs as much as Sabito!" Kaito would reply, explaining it better than what I was about to say.

My parents looked over to me, probably waiting to see if this was true so I nodded and added "Yeah, there were some stalls nearby. I'm sorry if I left suddenly, I wanted to clear my thoughts for a few...".

I shouldn't have said that, but luckily for me I had the best parents in the world.

"Your father and I understand darling, we were also nervous. We were scared that you would leave us again, that and you wouldn't show any affection to us or even worse, hold a grudge." Mom would explain, with Dad nodding from her statement.

I could only smile, Dad was still his usual quiet self b

"Mom, Dad. I would never hold any type of grudge against you, that's stupid. You are the greatest parents someone like me could ask for. Your love is unconditional, and you didn't even get angry at me and Tsutako-nee growing up. I can't find one reason why I would ever hate you two! You two should be the ones holding a grudge at me, I literally left this family without any damn explanation. You two not being angry with this alone shows how you're loving parents!" I'd reply, explaining to them.

Without warning, Mom would hug me again. To which I would return with an even bigger one.

"What did we deserve to have such a son?" Mom would state, hugging me even more.

"You deserve everything ma, everything. You too dad, you both deserve so much better." I replied, breaking the hug a bit later on.

We stayed there for a few more minutes talking and catching up, everyone finally joining us in our conversation.

I was so caught up with actually catching up with my family I forgot about Iako, good grief...

While I let the other's converse, I went towards her. I really should introduce her to them now. I hope they like her.

Narrator's POV

And here we were, Giyu talking to Iako.

"So here I am again, apologizing for leaving you kiddo. I'm really sorry about that, I wasn't ready to face them yet... But enough of that, since we're here I really want you to meet my parents, I want them to know about you." He'd explain, with Iako just giving a slight nod as a response.

The father-daughter would walk towards the Tomiokas, who were now joined by Makomo and Sabito's Family and are currently discussing a few things over some tea.

"Hey guys I'm back, I'd like you all to meet someone." Giyu would call out to them, with everyone looking over to them.

"Oh, she's Iako isn't she? Sabito, Makomo is she your eldest? Although I've never hear her talk yet, and she doesn't seem to take any qualities from you two, no offense." Tomioka's mother would ask, looking over at Sabito and Makomo.

"Oh I wish, she's one of the sweetest girls out there. But sadly no she is not ours." Makomo would reply, with Sabito nodding afterwards.

"Who's is she then? Is she a kid from one of your friends? Are babysitting her?" Yuriko would ask, with Sabito and Makomo just looking over at Giyu.

Yuriko and Haru would stare over at their son, with Tsutako and Kaito eagerly waiting for this reveal to the elder Tomiokas.

"Mom, Dad. As you already know this is Iako, and she's my... daughter... Surprise?" Giyu would finally announce, with the Elder Tomiokas just looking over them for a while and to each other before Yuriko passes out from the news.

Giyu and the others would crowd and try to help her but he told them to give them some space while he tries to talk to her.

"Whoa, whoa! Holy crap, Mom?! Are you okay? Mom?"  Tomioka would call out to her, the mother just looking back at him with a still and surprised face.

"I-I'm fine dear just s-surprised that's all... Who's the mother?" She'd stutter, slowly getting up in a sitting position.

The question made Giyu stutter for a bit, he wanted to answer her but before he could even answer Iako butts in.

"No one ma'am, I don't have a mom nor a dad. Giyu or as I call him dad, he adopted me. I was an oprhan in the states, dad found me wandering in Halloween night. I just escaped an abusive orphanage, I was scared when dad first saw me. I thought he was gonna be like the rest, someone who's gonna shun me over again or someone who would do worse but he actually noticed me, a first in my once miserable life. He didn't hesitate to help me, treated me like an actual kid, and he cared for me like how a parent would. He taught me himself, homeschooled me, all I knew was I was almost mute probably dyslexic but he taught me how to speak... I wanted to go to school and feel like a kid but I didn't want to leave dad's side, I didn't care if it wasn't normal for me, I barely had a childhood and without dad I wouldn't even have one. So yes, I am only adopted. But I love my dad, and I'm proud to say I'd rather have him than any other." She'd lengthily explain, with Giyu just smiling over at her.

Yuriko and Haru could only smile at this, they were surprised and all but they were definitely happy. They had another grandkid, who doesn't want another grandkid? Plus, she's a teen. They always wondered how it would be if they had a teenage grandbaby, but it was sad that Tsutako married a little later, but now they have a teenage granddaughter! That's something they should be happy about!

Haru and Giyu would help Yuriko up, before the older woman hugged Iako, and with Giyu and Haru following afterwards.

"Oh darling, I have a granddaughter now. Blood-related or not, you're part this family now. You have us, your grandma and your grandpa, your aunt and especially your dad" The older woman would tell the teen, caressing her cheeks and hugging her again.

The teen was hesitant to hug her at first, but she eventually melted into the hug. Reminiscent of the time when Giyu first hugged her, such good memories... But like most beautiful things, they needed to end with Sabito breaking the heartwarming scene.

He was panting, clearly ran towards here as fast as he could. What could he be doing this time?

"Guys, I don't want to ruin the moment but we've got some visitors. And Giyu can I talk to you for a sec?" Sabito would announce, the others wondering on who could these visitors be.

Giyu just nodded back, and the others would go back to the house. This leaves the two alone, with Giyu wondering why Sabito needed to speak to him.

"What do you need Peach Face?" Giyu asked, while Sabito looked around frantically for a second before finally answering with "Okay, I need you to calm down".

"Calm down? You're the one acting paranoid. What is it this time? Oh don't tell me, you're gonna propose to Makomo? What took so long?" Giyu would reply, a flurry of questions coming afterwards.

"No dumbass, I already did that. I mean you literally! Shinobu! It's Shinobu's family visiting! The Kochous are here! Can you understand me?!" Sabito would reply, with Giyu looking over him with his ever so deadpan look.

"I'm not worried about them being here, but I am quite surprised about the sudden visit. Also why didn't you tell me you already proposed? That's a bitch move bro, but I'm happy otherwise. Anything else you wanna announce, because they're probably waiting for us. Emphasis on probably though." Giyu would reply, with Sabito just shaking his head as an answer.

And so both men trailed towards the house, Giyu was still confused with the sudden visit. What could go wrong?

Giyu's POV

We arrived in the living room with the sight of the entire Kochou family, and this is where I started to get cold feet. I still haven't apologized to Mr. and Mrs. Kochou after the... Incident...

God, they still must be angry with me... Do I really need to go? I really wanna crawl in a hole and die... This is damn annoying, and scary. I can already see myself getting beat up by Mr. Kochou, with Douma probably joining... and Sanemi, holding me while he laughs like the gremlin he is.

I really didn't want to ruin the mood, but a little tug made me realize that I was already spotted... I looked down to see Hana again, man this kid really likes me... How did she even stumble here without anyone realizing?

"Gyu!" She'd try and pronounce my name, it was cute but how did she even know my name? Man, kids this generation really are something. Anyways, she started clapping her hands and repeating my name for a while, that and she reached out her arms indicating that she probably wants some "upsies".

I picked her up anyways, I might as well go and return her safe to the family... God, what are the damn odds... I really can't catch a break don't I?

"Hey, your little flower started roaming again. She's an adventurous one, aren't you Hana?" I called out to them, looking at Hana who only smiled, to which Kanae-san instantly came to me and took Hana from my hands.

"You mischievous little bud! Thank you for looking after her Giyu, she's too curious now. And full of energy! She also likes his uncle Giyu a little too much." Kanae-san would thank me, before directing herself to Hana who just giggles.

I looked over to everyone else, who started to wave towards me. With Douma actually approaching me. I was also surprised to see Uzui and his wives here, that's surprising. Good thing I brought more food than necessary.

"Hey Giyu! I'm surprised to see you here!" Douma would greet me, extending his hand for a shake which I did.

"I'm surprised as you are, what are you guys doing here?" I'd reply, asking them about the sudden visit.

"Dad and Mom wanted to visit your parents, so we tagged along. We had nothing to do since we were currently at leave, and before you ask why Uzui is here it's because they visited us first and they followed us here! I'm still surprised you guys are here, we were only counting on Tsutako-nee and Kaito-san." He'd reply to me, with me just nodding at his reply.

"I see, well I'm here to reunite with my parents after a decade or so. I've never had contact with them nor my sister when I disappeared, hell I was scared to meet my sister at the beach alone. Took me a few days to think about it, and so I though this was the perfect time to finally show that I'm alive and well; that and I'm ready to reimburse with all those years I didn't spend with them. Plus, I wanted my parents to meet Iako." I explained, with him nodding to my response.

"Well I'm happy for you man, you finally reconciled with your family. Oh right, we brought some food!" He'd commend, and telling me about the food. Before he eventually waves me goodbye, running over to greet Sabito and Kaito who were over the backyard.

I thanked him and I went back to the living room, approaching the rest of the group. Great, more social interaction... Old habits never die... But I guess I do owe them, by a lot...

Uzui noticed me first, giving me one of his famous handshakes that end with a bro hug and a pat in the back, flamboyantly executed like he would say. I don't even know how I finish one of his elaborate handshakes, it has some really confusing moves at times.

"Hey dude, surprised to see you here." He'd greet me in the aforementioned way, with me just greeting him the same way.

"I'm surprised as you are dude, Douma told me everything. But I'm wondering why you visited suddenly, in the Kochou household at least. I'm actually happy you guys visited again." I'd reply to him, with him giving me a smile.

"I got you dude, I told you already. We'll always be ready to help, we being me and my wives of course! But if you were wondering I went to their house for a check-up." He'd reply to me, the check-up interesting me.

"Oh? Which of the Kochous did you have a check-up on, and what's the reason? Don't tell me, is one of your wives expecting?! Which of them? Personally I think the Makio would be the first one to have your kid." I'd ask him, while he just sighed, which probably indicated I was right.

"You have the right idea, but it's actually all of them. I was surprised when Mr. and Mrs. Kochou gave me the news after their check-up. I'm nervous that I might not be ready for this I mean I have 3 wives! I'm technically having triplets... if they have twins each I'd have sextuplets! And if they have triplets each then I'll have nonuplets! God I'm so excited but scared. My family is known for big families, so I'm worried that I may have fumbled up our family." He'd reply, with me patting him in the back and congratulating him.

"Don't be like that dude, I'm proud of you. You're finally having kids! And don't worry about being a dad dude, you're a great friend and an even better husband. Look at me, I didn't have a single idea on how to be a damn dad to Iako, but I think I raised her right." I would reply, with Uzui just smiling at me.

"Thanks dude, also can I ask you to be their godfather. I wouldn't have any other person that could care for my kids other than you, I asked the others too and they all agreed. It's just you left dude." He'd thank, with me just nodding and agreeing at his offer.

"Well you're in luck, a spot just opened up. Welcome to the Giyu Godfather Services, where your kid is guaranteed to attain some mannerisms by yours truly." I would joke, where in we would both  share a laugh.

"Thanks, I always knew I could count on you." He'd reply, with me saying "You had my back for so many times, it's the least I could do.".

The both of us would catch up even more, before I bid farewell and went over to my parents... Well I'm ready to face the Kochous now... I think I can... 

Narrator's POV

He'd go towards the group consisting of his parents, Shinobu with Umi, Kanae, Sanemi holding Hana, and of course Satsuki and Kuruo... God this is gonna be something...

"Hi darling, are you done greeting everyone else?" Giyu's mom would call out, with him nodding.

"Yeah, Hey Mr. and Mrs. Kochou." He'd greet the two, Kuruo waving back with a smile and Satsuki just smiling.

Giyu was glad that they weren't angry, well he thinks they aren't angry... He was also happy to see Umi again, and Shinobu of course.

Giyu had a soft spot with Umi, they kinda bonded when they were at the beach. By that he meant Iako played with her while he just watched over him, and she was just such a sweet girl.

He remembered her talking nonstop, telling them how much she loved her mom and dad. It was an adorable scene, which he definitely liked.

"Look mama it's Uncle Giyu!" Umi would notice him, while Giyu himself gave a smile and waved.

"Hey there kiddo, how are you?" Giyu would ask the little girl, with her giving him an adorable smile.

"I'm okay! Mommy and Daddy went with me to the theme park, it was so cool! We got to ride so many things, like the rollercoaster! We also played a lot of games!" She'd reply, the usual chatty and energetic behavior a kid like her would give.

God, that must've hurt him a lot... Giyu bittersweetly smiled, he was glad and all but he still couldn't get that feeling of sadness out of him...

He should've been done with this, he knows this was his reality now. He should just be happy for Shinobu... It's what she would've wanted (by that I'm pertaining to the original one that is very much dead  ⁠╹⁠▽⁠╹⁠ ).

"That's great kiddo, you're very lucky. Your mommy and daddy love you so much, not a lot of kids get parents like you do." He'd reply, ruffling her hair, which made her giggle.

"That's why I always tell them I love them very much!" She'd reply, hugging Shinobu and making everyone in the group just say awww (even Sanemi).

They talked for a while again, but Giyu's parents went over and talked with Sabito and Uzui's wives for the meantime and Shinobu, Kanae, and Sanemi along with the kids went over to Makomo. It just leaves Kuruo, Satsuki and Giyu over at the living room in silence.

He wanted to start the conversation by apologizing about the... incident... but nothing came out of his mouth. Leaving the room silent as it is, which is very awkward...

"So, how are you Giyu? It's good to see you again dear. I'm glad that you finally reunited with your parents." Satsuki would start the conversation, surprising the aformentioned man.

"I'm fine ma'am, I'm also glad that I finally found the strength and courage to face my parents again." He'd reply, with the older woman just nodding.

This would be followed by even more silence, which was even more awkward than the initial one...

Man what could happen next? Guess we'll know next time... I think?
