Reminisce
A/N- Sometimes, ending a memory helps with making new ones.
P.S: I've been using Yoriichi and Kokushibo's last name as Tsukigini instead of the Tsugikuni. My bad.
And yes It's Been So Long, like that Five Nights at Freddy's song.

Giyu's POV
Well, I'm utterly stumped. I've got nothing to do today.
Makomo and Sabito finally decided to get help for the cafe so I'm basically jobless again... But I do get to instruct the new recruits so I guess that's something.
Iako is at school today, I finally convinced her to get a proper education, considering that even if I do remember everything I learned, I don't really have the time to teach her about everything, plus I might spill some unnecessary nonsense to her.
And Sabito and Makomo's kids are at the nursery today. So it has been, relatively quiet here.
I glanced at my phone, checking the time to see merely 5 minutes just passed... This is... one, miserable day.
I sigh again, scrolling through my phone for any texts, chats or calls, but there was nothing. I guess everyone is busy with their lives for today, I usually get a call from Uzui or Rengoku to hang out, hell even Sanemi calls sometimes, and he still hates me. Even Douma video calls sometimes, it's kinda weird to have no one bothering me today.
I curse to myself, why of all days? The boredom is absolutely killing me, and I never thought I'd say it but I miss noise around me.
As I slouch on the couch, an idea popped off. It was sudden but considering the boredom I'm currently experiencing, I'd rather do it than have this.
Plus, I have been wanting to visit the place for a long time now, I just didn't find the time to do it.
But I guess it is time, time to go back to the very roots. It's finally time for me to visit the Demon Slayer's Headquarters, after so many years...
Timeskip...
Narrator's POV
And here we are Giyu driving his car just atop the hillside, where other cars are already parked at.
Apparently they made the entire property a museum of sorts, storing items from the many eras of history that demon slayers have been a part of.
Giyu looked at the now heritage site, as what he could assume were students on their field trip and different researchers would clutter around the place, taking pictures of different artifacts of a past he was once part of.
The Ubuyashiki's Estate was the main building for the entire museum as it houses almost everything there, it was a restoration of the manor as the original was destroyed during the final fight with Muzan via explosion.
The entrance alone showed them, in a more ways than one, as there were caricatures of him and the others in the classic Japanese-style art.
There were also greeters who wore their patterned haoris, it was kinda creepy, but he welcomed it nonetheless.
It was definitely surreal, seeing pictures and portrayals of their battles, their outfits, and even recreating the entirety of their history.
Hell, he owned some of those artifacts, he considered if he should actually give them the originals, make the place a lot more authentic than it already was.
But then again, he could do that later, he had time to spare, so for now, it was just him and his camera, taking as many pictures as he could.
The first area showed a brief history of the Demon Slayers, as children in the area mimicked their poses and looked at the mannequins and wax figures in awe. Uttering phrases like "Cool!" "I wanna be like them!" etc.
There was also a certain fragmented training doll there, it looked familiar to him, kinda looks like Tanjiro but he can't place it. It did look cool though, it looks like General Grievous from Star Wars, except with an extra pair of hands.
It looked exactly like the first guy Giyu saw in the area, Yoriichi or something? He had the same hanafuda earrings as Tanjiro did, and he does look like an adult version of him. Could they be related? Who knows! Giyu just shrugged as he read the texts.
"Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the first Sun Breather. The Marked One." he would speak, before looking at the figure of the man, and he could definitely say that the man definitely is just adult Tanjiro. He had the same scar and everything, or was it a scar? Looks like one of those demon slayer marks they all got in the final battle.
Again he didn't really think too much about it, as he just reads the rest of the text.
"Yoriichi Tsugikuni is the younger brother of Michikatsu Tsugikuni, the latter would later be known as Uppermoon One, Kokushibo." He read again, now that he didn't know of.
Tanjiro from the first life definitely forgot to tell him so details, or probably Sanemi there since he was the one to fight the said Uppermoon with Gyomei, Muichiro and Genya.
He looks to the side to see said Upper One, the six-eyed right hand of Muzan. He definitely looks imposing, and that sword, Jesus.
"Uppermoon One, Kokushibo being a former demon slayer and Hashira himself would retain his abilities and combine it with his Blood Demon Art, as it becomes a powerful amalgamation he would use to slay many people, including high ranking slayers themselves. His own sword is a part of his flesh, able to morph into as many blades or whatever shape he would have wanted." He read, looking at the recreation of the blade. As it shows a normal version of it and beside it the much larger and almost wacky three bladed katana.
This was also the room that showed the figure of Muzan, and the blue spider lily the demon king has sought after for centuries. He notes to himself that, he did indeed look like a Japanese Michael Jackson.
"Only known by his name, Muzan Kibutsuji, not much is known about the Demon King, a man who can transform his body at will, nobody knows if this was his actual face, as his history has been shrouded in a dark cloud for nearly a millennia. A tyrant who will do anything for immortality, the brutal leader of the Uppermoons and a monster who kills with no remorse, he is the very reason for the formation of the Demon Slayers , led by his very bloodline, the Ubuyashikis." He read again, before looking at the murals drawn, showing Muzan and his many guises, and his monstrous forms.
Other than those notable three, there would be brief mentions of other known slayers, people he barely knew, although their faces looked familiar, he couldn't point it though. Probably the first generation slayers?
Deciding that he has seen most of the area, he goes over to the next exhibit, Notable Slayers and Compatriots throughout History.
The place was surrounded with different items, relics even he probably has. Nevertheless it was a sight to see families, and so many people enjoying the visit.
The first was figures he would see were that of Tanjiro, Kanao, Aoi, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke hell even Genya; as they were grouped together.
He smiles, remembering a lot of memories with the main six, those were the days...
He reads the scriptures shown in their profiles.
"Tanjiro Kamado, the older brother of Nezuko Kamado and first of six siblings, a teen who lived as a simple charcoal seller and maker with his family. Driven to become a slayer when his family was wiped out by the Demon King during one of the days he descended from their home, only leaving her sister as the sole survivor of the attack, who unfortunately succumbs and transforms into a demon herself." He read, pretty accurate stuff. However he didn't know Muzan himself wiped his family, that's new info even for him.
He looked over to see some of his replicas, including the mask he had during his final selection including the haori, his checkered haori and his hanafuda earrings. They even made a replica sword, the original and the one he would eventually have, with Rengoku's flame handguard.
"Nezuko Kamado, the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado and the second eldest among the six siblings. Once a sweet and caring older sister who turned into a demon after a brutal attack that killed the rest of her family. She is one of the very few demons who are docile to humans, having protecting them instead of devouring them as others would. Tanjiro's reason to cure her from this led to the events of him being a demon slayer and the eventual defeat of Muzan Kibutsuji." He silently read, paraphrasing the rather long explanation before looking at the replicated items.
It included her bamboo muzzle, the pink hemp-patterned haori, and the box Tanjiro would carry her on.
He would go to Kanao next, before something caught his eyes. The section with the items, it had a coin, wait was this?
"Oh." Is all he could mutter, as the display shows it saying "ACTUAL RELIC: DO NOT TOUCH".
So this is where the coin ended up in, damn that's lucky... But he thought about it for a second, did he lose it somewhere? Or did he give it to Oyakata-sama? He weirdly can't remember... But at least the coin is safe... Right here.
With that problem of his out the way, he read Kanao's description.
"Kanao Tsuyuri, the adopted sister of the Butterfly Hashira, Shinobu Kochou and the Flower Hashira, Kanae Kochou. Once sold as a slave, she was bought by the two sisters who nursed her back to health, taking care of her like she's their own sister. Her years of trauma caused her to be nearly mute, lacking communication skills. She only makes decisions with a coin given to her by Kanae. She eventually followed the two sisters steps and became a demon slayer herself, becoming one of their strongest as she herself would hold against Uppermoon Two, Douma in a fight." He read, before remembering the fight again...
He sighed, before he tried forgetting the memories that came with it. Douma was nice now, so he can't blame him at all... It was all in the past. The horrible past...
He looked over at her replicated items, from her butterfly haori to the butterfly pin Kanae gave her, and of course the actual coin she used in making those decision. There was also a replica of her sword.
Taking a pause, he looks at Zenitsu's area.
"Zenitsu Agatsuma, known as a cowardly but exceptionally adept slayer who could reach insane speeds with his thunder breathing technique. His comrades would note his crybaby attitude during missions, easily frightened by anything that could scare him. This was merely a facade though, as when danger comes he does the job right, blitzing through demons with a sudden flash. During the final battle, he would easily defeat the newly appointed Uppermoon Six, Kaigaku who was a former senior of his with a single technique he formulated on his own." He read, nodding on the facts, however they did leave the fact that he mostly passed out and sleep-fought in said battles, excluding the last one of course.
He looked over Zenitsu's artifacts, seeing his haori, a wax figure of his robin Chuntaro, and his lightning bolt designed sword.
Next he would go to Aoi's part, as it housed a lot of different things, probably the most out of the six.
"Aoi Kanzaki, initially a demon slayer herself, she didn't have the courage to fight demons, only surviving through sheer luck during the selection. She eventually found herself as a nurse in the Butterfly Estate, formerly the Flower Estate before Kanae Kochou's passing, where the Butterfly Hashira, Shinobu Kochou and Kanao Tsuyuri lived. She is a familiar face to a lot of slayers, as she mostly tends to them, being that the estate was basically their hospital. She's attentive, motherly but strict about rules, she's also a good cook. She is also a close friend of Nezuko, Kanao, Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke, the latter being an enthusiast for her food." He read, looking at the kiosk, before he looks at the different items in the area.
Like the coin, these were legit, from cooking ware to the very nursing outfit she used, it also had her two blue butterfly pins. There were also some pictures of her and the gang.
"Inosuke Hashibira, a near feral child raised by boars and has the headstrong attitude of one, he has an unusually pretty face, hidden by his boar mask, which is a complete opposite of his beastly personality. He is brash, aggressive and wants to fight anyone he deems strong. The King of the Mountains, as his self proclaimed title, his animalistic tendencies are also a key to his demon slaying tactics, even going as far as to wield two swords which he modified into saws, like the serrated teeth of a shark. He is also hyper flexible, able to contort his body into unnatural poses, even able to dislocate parts of his bone without any thought, because of this control, he even managed to rearrange the formation of his guts to avoid being poisoned by the former Uppermoon Six, Kaigaku." He reads, before remembering that fight.
The very first Uppermoon kill in centuries, but cost them Uzui and his ability to be a slayer.
Without much more thought, he looks over the replicas of the items, seeing his unmistakable boar mask, bandages, and his iconic dual serrated katanas.
Then finally we have Genya, the slayer who couldn't use breathing styles.
"Genya Shinaguzawa, younger brother of the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinaguzawa. A slayer who can't use the conventional breathing techniques, he would use a sawed-off shotgun catered towards slaying demons, a rather unconventional method of consuming demon flesh to incur the abilities of the demon he just consumed from. The stronger the demon, the stronger but more dangerous he is towards others." He read, looking at the statue who showed off his transformation. Giyu never really saw him fight but he imagined the destruction Genya could've brought. Now imagine him having actual breathing styles, he would be broken.
The artifacts displayed included a bullet and a replica gun, and a some of teeth he had in his demon form and his uniform.
He took a picture of every single artifact, before heading to the next area, which seemed to house the non slayers that have helped them.
He would see a replica of Yushiro and Tamayo, with the plaque saying "Lady Tamayo and his assistant Yushiro: Humanity's Demon Allies"
He gave a small smirk, at least the two were given credit they deserve, without the help of Yushiro going in the front lines, many slayers would've died, including Mitsuri and Obanai if he hadn't intervened in the newly appointed Uppermoon Five, Nakime.
Tamayo also helped Shinobu in making the poison that slowed Muzan down.
He also noticed the area dedicated to the swordsmiths in the hidden village, with them were the kakushi and those who work in the back lines during their missions.
After taking pictures, he went over to the final area in the exhibit. But before he could reach that, he passed on the souvenir shop, piquing his interest on whatever could be there.
To his surprise, the small looking souvenir shop was actually massive on the inside, that entrance was deceptively small. But it probably had to do with the fact that there was a cafe and eatery inside, with a lot of customers already.
Giyu felt hunger from the smells produced in the area, forgetting the he didn't eat breakfast today and just a simple cup of joe.
Maybe a light snack or an early lunch would suffice, something he could eat while exploring the place.
As he approaches the place, he noticed a familiar set of eyes working at the eatery.
It was Kiriya Ubuyashiki, third child from the quintuplets of Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and his only son.
The kid he knew before was now entering his teens from the looks of it, as he has grown significantly taller now.
He was serving the customers it seems like, and his sister... Nichika? Hinaki? Kuina? Kanata? Honestly Giyu couldn't tell, he's the only one in the quintuplets to have black hair and the rest of his sisters looked identically the same, proportionally, and in any quality they possess. It kinda creeped him at times, like those twins from the Shining, but this time it's quintuplets.
Before he could say anything else, one of Kiriya's sisters approached him, ready to take his order.
"Oh, Uncle Giyu. It's you." The girl would speak almost robotically, as Giyu just smiles awkwardly.
"Uhh... Hey... Uh Nichika, how are you kiddos? How's your mom and dad?" He replies, taking a quick peek at her name tag, before returning a response.
"We're fine, mother and father are also fine. Although they have been busy as of late." She replies, her tone is kinda similar to Iako's now, kinda creepy.
"I see, so you and your siblings work here?" He asks, looking at her as she nods.
"Father said that it's for working experience, that we could use it in case one of us would be heirs to the company name." She replies, before he nods.
Looks like Oyakata-sama really is readying his kids up for business, at least the quintuplets seem to like it, and are not opposed to it.
Before halting the line any further, Giyu tells his order to Nichika, who nods as he takes the receipt from her so he could claim and pay for the items.
This time he was now met with Kiriya, who immediately recognized the man.
"Uncle Giyu! Long time no see, what a pleasant surprise seeing you here." Kiriya greeted him as he nodded and smiled, before returning the greeting.
"Nice seeing you kids too after so long, job experience huh? Your dad really is planning on making you quintuplets the head of the company." He smirks, giving him his receipt.
"Yep, dad has been training all of us as of now. Said that he wanted the company to be in good hands in case he retires early. So what made you visit so suddenly uncle?" Kiriya asks, giving the order slip to what Giyu saw as Hinaki.
"Not a lot of reason but, it's probably because I had free time. But it's mostly for nostalgia you know?" He replies, indicating the past he'd had here.
The Ubuyashiki Family has made known about Giyu's condition, considering that Kagaya himself was reincarnated to this life. So the quintuplets definitely know what he meant.
"Oh, I understand uncle. A lot of memories here huh? So are you here just to stroll around the exhibits or go through some of the catalogues uncle?" Kiriya asks, as Hinaki hands him Giyu's order.
"Probably... I don't really have a plan, just taking some pictures for now. Not much really... Maybe you know how I can convince your dad to give the relics I have and display them here?" He replies almost unsure of himself, as he grabs his wallet to pay for his order.
"Well, I'm happy you visited here. I'll make sure father knows you visited, and I'll keep him posted on the relics you have. And I sure hope you find what you're looking for uncle, because it sure as hell been time for you to have it." Kiriya replies, getting Giyu's payment.
Giyu just nods, giving a small smile before taking the receipt. Leaving the rest of his change and waving farewell to the quintuplets, three of them at least.
Giyu's POV
As I walk towards the final exhibit, drink and steamed meat bun on my hand, my phone vibrates.
I head back inside the gift shop, taking a seat in one of the free tables, setting my drink down and taking the call.
I look at the caller, it was Iako. I immediately answer it knowing the protocol I have with her.
She would only call me whenever there's an emergency with her or something important has come up over at school or at work, which is at the cafe.
"Iako, what is it kiddo?" I asked, waiting for her answer.
"Dad, where are you? Are you going to pick me up today?" She asked, almost frantically, she must be still getting used to the school.
"I'm over at the Taisho Exhibit your uncle Ubuyashiki was talking about, I came to visit. I'll try to catch up, your dismissal is 5pm right?" I replied.
"I'm half-day today dad, it's wednesday." She replied, while I looked at the time.
It was around 9:17, the drive back would take at least an hour, probably 30 minutes if I drove past the speed limit and if there was no traffic.
"Okay, I'll try, if I can't make it I'll Sabito or Makomo to pick you up. Is that okay with you?" I reply, waiting for her answer.
"Okay, I'll call you later. Love you dad." She replied, I smiled.
"Love you too twerp, I'll call you back later." I'd reply, before she ends the call.
Better finish this visit up then, I think I'm close to the last exhibit anyways.
Narrator's POV
Finishing up his meat bun, he would immediately head to the last exhibit of the day, a mixture of the Final Battle against Muzan, and the Hashiras.
Huh, to think this all happened in a span of a day, it's still a mystery how he survived that night.
Well, he did lose an arm during that fight, so it's still a loss.
Still, it was quite a sight, seeing whoever drew a mural of the fight. This thing is magnificent, even to the smallest of details; it was both realistic and surreal, it was like he was there again.
He took a picture of the mural, taking note that he should definitely have this as his wallpaper.
The mural had a pedestal on it, showing a brief rundown of what happened. It lacked a bit of detail as Giyu would put it, but it sums up most of it at least.
At least he knows the entirety of what happened, for better or for worse. Maybe he could tell his account of what happened, one day at least.
"The Final Battle, the conclusion towards the history of the demon slayers and the very thing they wanted to destroy. Through the night until the day breaks, demon slayers fought valiantly, hundreds of not thousands of them losing their lives to attain this victory. But through sheer determination, bloodshed, human will and spirit, and through sacrifice would they end the demon king's reign." He read, looking at the drawn mural.
Whoever drew this, props to them, they did a really good job. He loves it, a lot. He'll definitely remember this.
Anyways after seeing that, he would go over the profiles of them, the Hashiras.
First of them was Gyomei, and even as a dang sculpture, he's still really impressive.
"The Stone Hashira, the strongest of the 9 pillars. A hulking figure who towers over everyone he meets, and one of immense strength. Blinded when he was already young, once a skinny man who fostered over a few children, changed when one of the children betrayed his wishes, ending their found family from a demon attack, nearly dying from the encounter. He was accused of the murder, but was saved by the Ubuyashiki Family as he was recruited by the family, and from then became their strongest." He read, as he would see different feats of the Stone Hashira. Giyu looks around the people and sees other people staring up at his massive height, impressed to see such a man.
Hell, he saw other big people too. Also quite impressed and encouraged by Gyomei's feats. Of course there's the doubters as usual, those with scientific crap that Giyu definitely knows is also true, but considering he was there when everything happened, he's still believing in that.
Also they have plaques on the statues, Gyomei says "Immovable Mountain"
The artifacts included replicas of his prayer beads, the usual haori and weirdly enough the actual chains from his weapon.
He took a few pics of the artifacts from Gyomei's side as he would go towards Sanemi's next, and as usual he looked like a rugged military dog, and of course people are quite afraid. Even with just the wax statue.
"Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira. A harsh, headstrong and blood-lusted slayer who possesses Marechi Blood, an intoxicating blood type to demons which he exploits during his battles. He is a walking and fighting rage machine, a respected fighter, although not as a companion, as he is known as a hardheaded, hot tempered and stubborn man." Giyu reads, as he chuckles from the description. It was too accurate honestly, you gotta love whoever did the description.
His plaque says "Raging Galestorm" which was very on brand.
As per usual, he would take pictures of the artifacts, although one caught his eye.
A butterfly pin, specifically that of Kanae's. That's... A rather somber detail...
"A gift from the Flower Hashira: Kanae Kochou." He reads, as he definitely remembers that time.
He remembers the day, seeing Shinobu staring at the grave, done with crying, her eyes, dead. Behind her was Sanemi, not saying anything at all. A somber day that was...
After the usual pictures, he immediately goes to Muichiro's which also had his brother, Yuichiro.
"Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, a rather apathetic young man, and the youngest of the Hashiras. Other than his exceptional skill and immediate promotion during his time as a slayer, he is also notable due to his ancestry with the Sun Breather and strongest Hashira in known history Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and the Uppermoon 1 Kokushibo, also known as Michikatsu Tsugikuni." He reads, as he looks at the twins. The only difference he could see other than the choice of colors was their expressions.
The plaque he had read "Forgetful Haze".
He never met Muichiro's brother, so he's guessing he probably died before he became a slayer. Maybe he could meet him formally in this life at least.
Taking a picture of the artifacts, he goes over to Uzui's next, which also had his three wives.
"Uzui Tengen, and his wives Hinatsuru, Suma and Makio. Once a renowned part of a shinobi family, Uzui would leave his family after having killed his own siblings by the wishes of his own father as a way of choosing the next clan head. Not wanting to actually have the responsibility and the job of killing innocents, he eventually became a slayer with his wives accompanying him during his missions. Being the Sound Hashira and utilizing his shinobi training made him a formidable fighter." Giyu reads, as he looks at the statue, as people ogled at the polygamous quad. For obvious reasons (you already know what it is).
He chuckles, remembering the times his wives visited him after the war, it was always better times... Well it was... Happier...
He gives a faint smile, before taking more pictures.
He also noticed that his plaque read Uzui's self made title "God of Festivities". Which was something.
Next seems to be the one and only Kyojurou Rengoku, our favorite donut- I mean flame-head.
"Kyojurou Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, loud, energetic and a very kind man. He is the son of the former Flame Pillar, Shinjuro Rengoku. He is known to be a big brother around the corps, a valiant man, brave, strong-willed and one of the kindest. He sadly lost his life during one of the first sightings of an Uppermoon, specifically the Mugen Train incident where he and Tanjiro's squad would battle Lowermoon 1 Enmu and the Uppermoon 3 Akaza, he would hold the Uppermoon off on his own to protect the others as they could only watch. Sadly, even if he held his own, he couldn't defeat the high ranking demon and succumbed to the wounds he had." Giyu reads, remembering that time... He should've been there. They could've both held him off, at least they'd all survive with only injuries or a few broken bones. Hell, he'd rather be crippled there and then have Rengoku lose his life in that fight. He wished that too during the fight with Uppermoon 6, at least Uzui would've been able to help with the final battle... They would've all survived at least... Wishful thinking, he knew it himself.
After reminiscing a bit, he looks around to see a lot of people smiling like Rengoku, even as a statue he brings hope and cheer to others...
He smiles too, as he takes some pictures of the artifacts, including the ones Tanjiro has shown him.
Giyu looks at his plaque "A glazed-" I mean "Ablazed Spirit"
From the scrapped book about Sun Breathers, his flame haori, and of course his uniform.
After that, he moves to the next one, with Mitsuri and Obanai on it. Nice, they seem to remember the relationship between the two.
"Iguro Obanai, the Snake Hashira. A scarred man with an equally scarred past, he was subjected to being fed to a demon by his own family when he was young. The very reason why his face is scarred. He is stern and callous like the Wind Hashira, but the reverse goes with the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji. Other than being known for his distinct fighting style, he is also known for having a unique set of eyes, the right being yellow and the left being bright turquoise." He read, before going to Mitsuri's description next.
"Mitsuri Kanroji, The Love Hashira. Upbeat, and insanely strong, she is known for having 8 times the muscle density of a normal person, giving her unnatural strength even as a child. She is loved by many, and especially by the Snake Hashira. She is also known for having pink hair and green highlights from eating too much sakura mochi." He speaks, chuckling at the mention of Mitsuri's unnatural hair, and her eating tendencies.
Well at least the current Mitsuri is still married to Obanai, he's a pretty good cook too, so she's definitely taken care of.
He looks at their plaque and sees "The Two-Toned Serpent and the Goddess of Love and War". Huh, pretty accurate.
And finally, it was him and Shinobu. He felt honored that something like this was made to honor him.
He also chuckled to himself, seeing how the wax protrays him. Did he really look this sad? Now he gets why Shinobu always teases him about being so brooding, stale, and stoic.
And even as an inanimate object, Shinobu still had that light to her, nothing can beat the original though.
He smiles, this is gonna be good at least.
"Giyu Tomioka, the Water Pillar. Stoic, introverted and a man of very few words. He is scarcely social, only talking when he thinks it is needed. Even so, people like Tanjiro Kamado and the Insect Pillar, Shinobu Kochou have broken down his social barriers. He is one of the only three Hashiras to have survived the final confrontation with Muzan, along with the likes of Tengen Uzui and Sanemi Shinazugawa." Giyu reads his own description, knowing it was quite accurate even today.
He looks over at his figure, before staring at Shinobu's. He missed seeing that haori on her.
"Shinobu Kochou, the Insect Pillar. The younger sister of the deceased Flower Hashira, Kanae Kochou. The only known slayer to have used poison instead of the usual method of beheading, partly due to her weak physique which she makes up for with her speed. She is also the doctor to the slayers, often being seen as a caring figure to everyone. She's also the main culprit towards annoying her fellow Pillar, Giyu Tomioka." He reads, chuckling at the last part.
It was a fact he'd never forget, even with the eventual passage of time, he'd never forgotten those times.
God, what he'd do to get those moments back.
As he took a few pictures of their artifacts, he would hear banter amongst two kids a boy and a girl, who he assumed were siblings due to their similarities.
"Look at him! He's definitely stronger! He looks cool too! Like a silent warrior! Plus water beats butterflies!" The little boy argues, while the little girl shakes her head in disagreement.
"Nuh uh! Look at her! She's definitely stronger! She's smaller but she's definitely faster! It's like me and you! I'm smaller and I'm faster! Plus butterflies are cool!" The girl argues, as the two continued their banter.
He chuckles, looking at them as the kids notice his imposing stature. The children audibly gasp, before turning to face him.
But instead of continuing to scream, the little boy looks at him.
"Hey, you look like the statue... SEE! I TOLD YOU HE'S BETTER! HE'S REAL!" The boy points at him, noticing that he did look like the statue, even with the small stubble growing out of his aged face, if only the kid knew about how true it is.
The little girl was in awe, seeing that the statue actually had someone modeled to look like them, although she was seemingly disappointed.
"Aww... That's unfair, I wanna see the butterfly lady too! Not just you water guy!" She speaks, a bit annoyed.
He smiles, looking at the kid. He grabs his phone and immediately scrolls to a picture of Shinobu and him.
"Here, she's not with me right now but this is a picture of us when we were in highschool." He'd show his phone, as the kids look in awe.
"Woah, she looks like her statue too! She's so pretty!" The little girl replied, as Giyu couldn't have agreed more.
"Mister! Can you do the things statue you do? Like with the swords and the water flowing?!" The boy asks, making sword sounds and the whooshing of water.
He wished though, he would be lying to himself if he didn't admit that his hands long for the handle of a sword.
Also water flowing? He doesn't remember seeing those when he fought? Or maybe he did, he couldn't remember much of his fights, other than the final battle of course.
"In all honesty kid, I wished. It's been so long, I hardly remember what a handle feels like." He replied, as we can see the kid was a bit disappointed.
"That's a bummer, it would've been cool to learn those moves from you!" The boy replies, as his sister agrees.
"Yeah! I would've loved to learn the one from the pretty lady!" The girl added, as Giyu could only chuckle.
"Maybe if we can remember, I'll try my best." He replies, while the two cheer.
At least they were enthusiastic, he thought to himself.
Looking back at his and Shinobu's figure one more time, before looking over at the kids again, their eyes filled with wonder.
And on cue the voice of a woman calls out to the kids, as she rushes over at them. She looked worried, she must've been looking for them for a while.
"Fumi, Sei! I told you two not to run off!" The young woman rushed at the two, as Giyu stood a bit away.
"But nee-san! You were so slow, we went ahead to see the cool statues!" The boy argues, as what he assumed as their older sister sighs.
"Please... Don't do that again, and thank you for watching over them." She'd reply, bowing down as Giyu just nods.
"It's fine, they are quite imaginative and entertaining to talk to." He replies, shrugging as he smiles.
"Nee-san! He's that cool guy with the sword! And he knows the pretty lady beside him too!" The girl speaks, as he points at the figure, and back over at Giyu who shrugs.
I guess he can entertain them a little further, as he takes one of his hair ties from his pocket to imitate his old shaggy pony tail.
"Yeah, I guess you can say that. Although, my hair is not as long as before, a few facial stubbles and I barely know how to handle a sword now. He is me, and I'm him." He replies, smiling at the kids.
Their older sister was a bit confused at first, looking at the features again, yeah she can see it. Giyu just looks a lot older now, although the features were undeniably him.
"Huh, you do look like the figure, a little too much. Are you his descendant then? Or a relative?" The older sibling asks, looking at Giyu as he shakes his head.
"No, not at all. Your siblings are correct, he is technically me. Well, it was me. In a past life, if you would believe it." He'd reply, as honestly as he could, but the older girl just chuckled.
"Ah, I get it. You must be an actor right? It wouldn't be a coincidence that you're staying here near the figure of someone or rather, something that looks like you." She speaks, but Giyu shakes his head.
"I mean it's fine what you believe in kid, but I am him. Anyways I have to go, I need to pick up my daughter. Take care of your siblings." He replies, shrugging as he waves goodbye to the kids and their sister who was still a bit confused.
Well, at least two people believed him.
Giyu's POV
Hmm, that was nice. Although I didn't get their names, I suppose that's one encounter for the books.
I should head back, it's almost 12. I'll pick Iako up on the way home, maybe pick up some ingredients for the cafe on the way too. You can never be sure, that's what I'd always say, plus freshness is a must.
Guess I'll see what happens, maybe I can buy something for myself too.
