When I Chose My Path

Author's note: To make things more convenient for the reader, I will exclude Melsur's actions in the present and focus only on his words.

I'll start where every story should begin- the beginning. My mother used to tell me that I was a very loud child, always wanting to make himself HEARD. She also told me that I was never louder than that time when I first entered the Time Center.

Before continuing, I just have to give you ONE FINAL EXPLANATION of the world in 500 TTL. Let me play a documentary before beginning the explanation.

The documentary

Space: The Final Frontier! Humans first set foot in space somewhere in the early centuries of the 3rd Millennium, but their methods and names are lost, shrouded in history, just like everything else that happened on Earth- our home planet, where all humans come from.

As all the viewers of this documentary must know, the only piece of information we were able to gather from the now-isolated planet is that somewhere between the 4th and 6th Millenniums, there was a great menace that threatened the very survival of the race, but due to the efforts of some unknown aliens, we were saved*. These, of course, are the bare facts. There are also legends that say humans back then had POWERS, such as unnaturally high levels of strength, speed and the ability of telepathy, to name a few. This, scientists accept, is technically possible, but very improbable. However, we digress.

Let us continue with the history of what happened to humans. After the exit from Earth, their ingenuity enabled them to create the tools required to establish life on different star systems, and soon, they dispersed, forming different societies with different cultures, with one commonality: they all shared one God- SCIENCE.

Soon, rivalries developed between these star systems, and wars broke out. This led to the victors forming galaxy-wide empires. Under the rule of the great Emperor Aiofeus, the Victrix Galaxy conquered all others, establishing a UNIVERSAL-SECTOR-WIDE EMPIRE. However, his successors lacked his charisma and initiative, and soon, the system collapsed, back into the system of galaxies. Out of the debris formed in the collapse of Aiofeus' empire arose the great Magna Galaxia, a millennium later, along with the Grosartig Galaxie and the Yorbun Megalos, which are today the mightiest galaxies in the world.

Coming to you live from... THE FORTEM BROADCASTING CENTER!

Back to me

Now, you may have a few questions.

The first one being: If we have time travel, why don't we just go back to Earth in the 3rd Millennium to find out all that we need to? The simple answer is: due to the repercussions of the Butterfly Effect. It's standard procedure, taught at the Time Center. Here is the definition, verbatim- The further back you go in time, the greater the effects of the smallest action. In other words, the time you go back in has effects directly proportional to itself. See? Simple! We cannot risk going back that far, because if we do, our smallest action's effects will be magnified in the future, which could lead to someone not being born, or an entire planet, or galaxy not existing.

Another question you may have is, what POWERS? Is there any truth to them? Well, those are the questions our leading scientists in the Time Council have been trying to answer for the past 1 billion years. We must have had records, but at some point, lack of alertness and intelligence may have led to the destruction of those records, or resulted in them being inaccessible.

With this out of the way, we can FINALLY begin my story.

Upon entering the classroom, the whole class stood to attention and did a zig-zag motion with their right arm to my mother. "SHIGRAN!" they yelled. This was the traditional salute for a Steward/Stewardess. She smiled, and bowed, acknowledging them.

While bowing, she whispered in my ear, "Make me proud, filius

Saying so, she walked out of the room.

I quietly took my seat, and the class turned back to the professor. He was just about to begin speaking, when a child barged into the room, panting.

"Sorry, the pod malfunctioned and my mother was busy and my father was working so I had to run all the way here and-" he began speaking so fast I could barely understand what he was saying, when the Professor said, "Show me your hand."

The boy meekly held it out and the Professor brandished a light stick (since you humans won't know what it is, let me explain. It's pure, sizzling plasma contained within itself, capable of slicing through Kevlar like butter) and raised it, ready to bring it down on the child's hand. Instantly, instinctively, I jumped in the way and defiantly glared at him.

I chuckle now, remembering the cold fear I'd felt as I thought he was going to bring it down on me.

Instead, he smiled and asked me, amusedly, "And what do you think you are doing, Mister Pascal?"

"I won't let you hurt him!" I yelled, still terrified.

He lowered the light stick, and looked at the child behind me.

"You were saved from a very harsh punishment only because of your friend, Mister Adamos. Go to your seat now, and don't be late for my class again." he said, smiling again.

The Adamos kid quickly ran to his seat and flashed a grateful smile at me. I smiled back, when my attention was brought back to the Professor.

"You too, Amedeo."

"Thank you, Professor Gilos" I grinned, and walked back to my seat.

After our class ended (which involved us shooting at holographic aliens), I quickly left, but before I could step out the door, Adamos came running up to me.

We shook our six hands, and he said, "Hey, my name's Antwerpus, Antwerpus Adamos"

I introduced myself, and his eyes widened.

"Pascal, as in, ILORZ Pascal?" he said, awestruck.

Oh, did I mention? My ancestor was a bit of a celebrity. I nodded my head, and allowed myself a small smile as he began to rant about all his achievements. "He's so amazing, he prevented the fall of the stars, he beat the  Glomorians, he has a super cool spaceship, and a RECX for a pet!!"

For a second, I was lost in this deluge of praise, but I quickly came back to myself, and interrupted him, saying, "Yes, that's my great-great-grandfather."

Antwerpus mouthed the word 'Cool' and asked me another question. "Is that why you want to be a Time Warrior?"

"Yes"

"Your mom's the Stewardess, right?"

I nodded my head.

"YOU'RE RELATED TO CELEBRITIES, I'M FRIENDS WITH THE SON OF CELEBRITIES!"

At this point, I broke into peals of laughter. His face suddenly fell, and he asked uncertainly, "We ARE friends, right?"

"Yeah" I said, and we walked out together.

That is when I took the path that would lead to my becoming the greatest Time Warrior in the land since my father, and which would lead to that fateful crash....
