Chapter 24
Biana POV:
"W-what do we do n-now?" I whimpered, hugging my knees close. The three of us have been sitting at Sophie's bedside crying for hours, yet none of our eyes have ran out of tears. The possibility of Sophie being stuck like this haunted my mind. I messed up. Badly. And the fact that I might not get to make it up to her left me trembling, my tears falling quicker.
"I-I..." Amy started, swiping at her nose with her shirt sleeve. She walked over to Sophie, who was sleeping peacefully in bed. I enjoyed that for her. That she could sleep without the nightmares that would plague her mind more than they should've.
"I think I might k-know someone who can h-help..." Amy finally continued, watching Keefe as he perked up at her words. "G-get them then!" He said urgently, rushing over to Sophie as Amy fumbled with her imparter. "Show me Marriena... Show me Marriena!" She ordered, shaking the device. I planted my face in the crook of Sophie's neck, sobbing quietly.
A cheerful voice sounded from Amy's imparter, lightening the tension for a moment. I mentally cursed when Amy cut it off.
"Oh, hiy-"
"Marriena! Is your dad there? You said he studies broken minds, right?" Amy asked, lathering on the urgency thick. "Uh-uhm, yes! Let me get him..." Marriena replied, dropping her imparter on a table and running to get her father. I miss my father. How he says never to worry. If he said it now, I don't think I'd believe him.
Some shuffling was heard from the other end before a masculine voice speaks, almost a whisper. "Hello..?"
"Hi! I'm Amy! Yes, I'm human." Amy rushes. She takes a deep breath, calming down. "My sister's mind is broken. Can you help her...?"
I look back over at Sophie, the rest of their conversation tuned out. Keefe is stroking Sophie's hair back. My mind hurts when I think about how Foster-Keefe might never happen in the way we intended it to.
No.
I have to think positive.
"Biana?" Amy breathed, talking to me but staring at Sophie's peaceful face. I stood, going to look out the window. "Biana," she walked over to me, "can you go with Keefe to the Lost cities to find Forkle and get Marriena's dad?" She asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. My heart beat with anticipation.
As much as I wanted to stay with Sophie, I wanted to go see my family again.
(A/N I'm time skipping cuz I'm lazy🤪)

Dex POV:
The four of us were huddled in Fitz's room, looming over my laptop -- a human device -- whilst I tried to access the human version of the registry.
"You can find her, right?" Asked Fitz, skeptical. I paused to turn around and glare at him. "Maybe the black swan implanted a tracker like Keefe's?" Tam pitched. "Probably," I started, grabbing another device from my bag. I call it the Black Twiggler, because it does the same thing as the original, except to the Black Swan database. I showed Linh how to scroll on the contraption, and then I turned back to the laptop.
I had to scroll for a long time through the F's, because there are way too many humans. It surprised me that we actually found her.

"Guys, look!" I exclaimed, pointing. They squinted at the screen. I sighed.
Della pushed the door open, looking more disheveled than usual since she's lost Biana. Her face wore a smile. "Fitz, you might want to come downstairs..." She said, urging them out quick.
Keefe POV:
I rapped my fist on the door, running a hand through The Hair. Biana stood next to me, biting the edge of her nails, a nervous habit she's had since we were young. A placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay, but I'm pretty sure it never works when the person trying to reassure the other isn't reassured.
The massive doors swung open, revealing Alden, who widened his eyes in surprise. I tried to summon my usual easy going, charismatic attitude, but all I managed was a weak greeting, the opposite of Biana, who had thrown herself at him. "Daddy!" She said, sobbing happy tears. Her mom peeked from a doorway on the other side of the foyer. As soon as she spotted the crying girl, she ran to us surprisingly fast, since she was in heels.
I scratched my chin, feeling out of place in their tight-knit family. When they extended their arms to welcome me into the hug, I could barely hold back my own sobs. Soon, we were all one big ball of tears. When we pulled away, Della brought us tea and went to get Fitz. I felt nervous to see him, since he hadn't been the best friend in those last few years that I was in the Lost cities.
When he walked in, -- friend group on his heels -- I managed a small smirk. "Missed me?" I said, trying at a nonchalant expression. He stared for a second, before running to crush Biana in a hug.
Before I knew it, I was being wrapped up in a hug, too.
Dex squeezed me, and I laughed a bit. "I missed you," he whispered. "Missed ya, too, Techie-boi," I replied, grinning ear to ear. It felt good to be back. It felt like we were teens again, except one crucial thing...
Sophie.
I stood up, gently pushing Dex aside. Biana's face darkened, remembering why we're here. "We need Mr. Forkle." I said, my voice firm. Linh shook her head. "We haven't heard from him for months..." She whispered, looking away. My eyes began to water, and Tam sneered, laughing. "What's wrong, Funkyhair? Mommy issues? Oh, wait- you don't have one!" He doubled over in laughter, and soon, he clutching his cheek, red where Biana slapped him.
"Tam Dai Song, you shut up!" She turned towards us, crying. "He's Neverseen! He's the one that kidnapped me!" Her face reddened, her tears no longer from sadness. She turned, grabbing a vase and throwing it at his head. He passed out.
I finished :3
