79. Long time no see!
Jungkook sat awkwardly in the backseat of the car which Jimin noticed from the rear-view mirror.
"You don't have to feel nervous or scared, Kook. Just enjoy your time. You know Tae still loves you, right?" Jimin reassured him, attempting to maintain his focus on the road. They all knew that Jungkook would be nervous because the two of them were meeting first time after Jia's pregnancy news.
"Chim is absolutely correct. He cares about you, and we're here to support you. Don't worry." Jin spoke in a soft voice, patting Jungkook's shoulder. He sat in the backseat next to Jungkook, while Yoongi sat in the passenger seat. Yoongi didn't say anything because he felt he was still responsible for everything.
"C'mon Yoongi, you've got to stop overthinking as well." Jin pleaded, knowing his best friend very well. "Guys, we are going to enjoy and not cry or something. So chill! I'm looking forward to meeting this Namjoon guy though. Taehyung always flaunts Namjoon's high IQ. I'll have to see if he gets any of my dad jokes." He kept talking loudly, which made the other three laugh. He had a knack for making people laugh.
Jungkook relaxed since he knew he didn't have to act awkward around Jia or Taehyung anymore. They had talked about everything, and Taehyung had assured him that he would treat him as a younger brother, as he had been doing all these years. Don't overthink. You should be happy that Jia and Taehyungie hyung are happy. He nodded his head once he made peace with his mind.
Meanwhile, Taehyung and Namjoon were seated on the couch of Hoseok's house with Aera in the middle. Hoseok had gone to call his wife.
Song-yi had met Taehyung and Jimin, and now she had to get used to everyone, as Namjoon had already stated. Hoseok was overjoyed that his wife would get to make some good friends along with him.
"Baby, come on! They are here. Yoona will also be here shortly." Hoseok informed and kissed her cheek before walking out of their room.
He couldn't help but smile at the cute-looking girl when he returned to the drawing-room. "Hello, sweetheart!" Hoseok greeted the girl sweetly who became shy because of the stranger's presence. She was just three years old and so, it was not easy to gel up with everyone within seconds.
"Hello!" She spoke lowly with a smile, making the other two males around her chuckle.
"Go and talk to Hoseok uncle. He is our friend, bub. You'll like him." Taehyung whispered in her ear. Aera nodded and walked to Hoseok who now sat at the chair placed across the couch.
Hoseok pulled up the girl and sat her on his lap, kissing the back of her head. "We're also trying for a baby. We've been married for over two years, and after seeing your daughter, I desire a cute baby girl just like her." He gently pressed another kiss on her head and Namjoon just smiled in return.
"I'm ready. Has Yoona arriv... Namjoon?" Song-yi halted in her steps just beside Hoseok's chair with a shocked face.
Namjoon stood up, not believing his eyes. "Song-yi? Long time no see! Oh my God!" He walked forward with a smile on his face. Song-yi walked up to him
Once they stood in front of each other, they hugged with wide smiles.
Hoseok and Taehyung had puzzled expressions on their faces as they stared at them. Hoseok stood up and approached his wife, holding Aera in his arms. "How do you both know each other?" He inquired, genuinely curious.
"Darling, he is my ex-fiance. Have you forgotten already?" Song-yi inquired of her husband once she broke the hug.
"Wait, Hoseok was the guy you fell in love with?" Namjoon asked with wide eyes.
"Yes, he is the man who made me fall for him like a madwoman," Song-yi answered Namjoon with a charming smile as she held Hoseok's waist.
"What a lovely choice! I'm so happy for you both. Oh! Aera is my daughter." Namjoon spoke as he took Aera from Hoseok's arms and kissed her cheek, holding her protectively in his arms. "She is the reason for my survival." He commented with a smile when Aera wrapped her arms around his neck and placed her head on his shoulder. She was daddy's girl, who found peace in his arms.
Song-yi's eyes watered. Her daughter had grown up so well. "My dear dau-"
Namjoon cut Song-yi off and said, "Tae, take Aera with you for a few minutes." He didn't want her to go on in front of his daughter like that. She was a smart girl, much like her father, who would question why her mother abandoned her if she was aware of her existence.
Taehyung was quick to notice the situation. He walked out with the little girl in his arms.
"Please accept my apologies for being impolite. Aera has no idea who her mother is. And she is a smart kid. I don't want her to expect anything from you." Namjoon said, earning a nod from Song-yi.
"It's no surprise that I couldn't take my gaze away from your daughter. After all, she is my wife's daughter." Hoseok smiled as he spoke, eliciting a smile in return from Namjoon.
"She has grown into a beautiful girl. I'm glad you took care of her well. When you requested me to give birth to the baby, I genuinely had a doubt if you would give her time or not. You never gave me time, which was the reason why I fell in love with Hobi." Song-yi intertwined her hand with her husband, who pecked her head in return.
"He was a busy man too, but he found time for me which is why I loved him the most. But now that I see Aera, I'm happy." She flashed a genuine smile.
"Thanks, buddy! I'm glad you didn't give her much of your time. Or else I would have never won her heart. You are a better man than me." Hoseok laughed at his own comment and rubbed circles on the girl's intertwined hand.
Namjoon laughed at the statement. "Oh, c'mon! You are a better man yourself. And we were arranged back then. We were together because of our parents. Our relationship would have fallen sooner or later. So I'm glad she found the right man who loves her."
Namjoon could only see love and happiness in the couple's eyes as they looked at each other lovingly. He was glad to let her go right after she gave birth to Aera. That was, after all, what he had promised her.
Their lovely moment was broken when Song-yi ran somewhere with a hand on her mouth.
With surprised expressions on their faces, Hoseok and Namjoon exchanged glances. "What has happened?" Hoseok inquired, but Namjoon simply shrugged. How would he know?
"Go check on her, dude," Namjoon instructed, and Hoseok nodded. Namjoon chuckled as he chased after Song-yi saying, "I'm coming, love!" He was about to sit on the couch when he remembered Hoseok's words. They were trying for a baby. Could it be...?
Namjoon too walked in the direction where the couple went, knocking on the bathroom door. "Is she all right?" He inquired as he stood outside, waiting for one of them to emerge.
The couple walked out in less than a minute. Hoseok walked carefully alongside his wife, who appeared exhausted and weak.
"Can you bring her to your room? I'll check her." He spoke casually, not wanting to give them fake hopes. He noticed how Hoseok's eyes gleamed brightly when he talked about a baby a few minutes back. He couldn't upset him.
"Right! I almost forgot that you are a doctor." Hoseok smiled weakly.
🥀
"I've checked her pulse and I think she is pregnant," Namjoon informed Hoseok, whose eyes began to tear within a second. "Bring her to my clinic tomorrow. I'll be there for you guys. I need to confirm first. Don't tell her anything though. I don't want you to be disappointed if she isn't pregnant." He spoke seriously, earning a nod.
Namjoon had experienced this many times with his patients. When he announced to his patients they were pregnant, he saw both happy and sad faces. In Hoseok's case, he knew they would be happy if Song-yi was pregnant. But it would break their heart if she wasn't.
Hoseok took a quick glimpse at the sleeping figure inside his room before closing the door and heading to the drawing-room with Namjoon.
As they walked, Hoseok murmured, "I just hope she's pregnant." Namjoon came to a halt and grasped Hoseok's hand, causing him to come to a halt as well. He hugged and patted his best friend on the back.
"Don't be sad. There is a 50-50 chance of her pregnancy. Just a few hours and you will know." Namjoon broke the hug when an idea popped into his mind. "Wait- I can do something." He fished out the phone from his pocket and dialed a number before Hoseok could ask anything.
"It's your night shift, right? Okay, I'm sending you my location. We need to run a test... Yes, bring everything." Namjoon hung up the phone, gazing at Hoseok, who was taken aback by his friend's faster thinking.
"We can get to know right now if you are so desperate." Hoseok had no idea how fortunate he was to have a doctor friend. It was a win-win situation. He drew Namjoon into an embrace and whispered thankyous.
Who says having a good relationship with your ex isn't normal? Namjoon and Hoseok don't seem to mind whether or not they are connected to the same girl. All that matters is that you have a compassionate and forgiving heart. Even if a few people aren't intended to be in our lives, we shouldn't keep grudges against them. We can, like Namjoon and Song-yi, end our relationships on a happy note. At the very least, things won't be awkward if you happen to cross paths with them in the future.

Did you imagine Song-yi to be related to Namjoon and Aera?
I had thought of it the moment I introduced Namjoon. I couldn't wait for this part, but I had to.
I hope you remember Namjoon's story that he shared with Taehyung. If you've forgotten, go and re-read the 36th chapter.
Let me know your views about this chapter.
They look so good 😻❤️
