34. Appa~ No fight
"KIM TAEHYUNG!" Jia barged into Taehyung's room after sending Ji-hu to Yoongi's studio.
Taehyung was writing in his diary when he was abruptly interrupted. He closed the diary and stood up with puzzled expressions.
"Why would you shout?" He inquired as he walked over to the girl, who was standing in the middle of the room.
"Why were the kids at Ji-hu's school saying that he had Appa? Why did you go to drop him off in the first place?" Jia interrogated her ex-husband in a loud voice.
"Jia, please sit down and listen to me before yelling and shouting," Taehyung urged calmly, motioning her to a chair near the bed. He sat at the end of the bed, facing the chair, and waited for Jia to take a seat.
Jia sighed and sat down, fiddling her fingers. "I'm sorry," she apologized as she looked down.
Taehyung could tell the girl was overreacting due to something else, so he continued to stare at the nervous girl.
When she didn't get a response, she realized she had intruded not just into Taehyung's bedroom, but also into his privacy. She noticed the diary on the bedside. "Were you busy doing something? Did I disturb you?" She inquired cautiously.
Taehyung noticed Jia staring at his diary when he looked in the direction she was looking. "No! I was writing a song, nothing important." He answered calmly.
"What got you so worked up?" He inquired cautiously to see if he had enraged her.
Jia sighed deeply. "Ji-hu never talked about how he was bullied at school. On the contrary, he always looked happy to be there. I was so preoccupied with my own suffering that I forgot about my son's."
Taehyung was glad that the actual reason for her anger wasn't because of introducing himself as his father. He crouched down in front of the girl and took her hands in his. "None of this is your fault, Jia. You have grown him so well. Please don't blame yourself."
"I won't get angry because of the fact that you introduced yourself as his father. I could imagine how you must have felt when you found out about how he was being bullied." She pulled one of her hands from Taehyung's grip and placed it on his. "I'm sure you were wearing a mask when you went there." She looked up at him as if she was confirming.
"Yes, I can't risk being watched in public. It would have affected him in the future." He responded calmly, looking straight into Jia's orbs.
"Great! Since no one has seen you, I'll introduce Jungkook as his father." Taehyung was caught off guard when she responded. He jerked his hands from her hold as if he hadn't expected this. To say he was surprised was an understatement.
Taehyung stood up and began pacing around the room, with a shock plastered on his face. He shook his head occasionally and mumbled, "You can't do that." He chanted the words lowly, but audible enough to Jia, and she continued to stare at the furious male.
"You can't do that." He gazed in Jia's direction and stood in front of her. "Why is it so hard to give me another chance? Why can't you dedicate the time to me that you're taking to get to know him? Have you ever thought about how stubborn you're being right now? I have caused less damage as compared to you." He pointed at the girl.
"You deserve it, Tae. You, on the other hand, caused mental and emotional harm. Why can't you realize that?" Jia, who was now standing in front of him, retorted.
"We aren't one because of you, why can't you see that? Clearly, you are the one at fault. In fact, it's just you."
They continued to blame each other, completely oblivious to the fact that Yoongi and Ji-hu were present and watching everything.
Ji-hu was eager to meet Taehyung, so he asked his uncle to take him to his TaeTae. Yoongi knocked, but when he didn't get a response, he opened the door slightly and peered inside to see if they should go in. Even though he didn't know why he'd do that, he did it anyway.
They noticed Taehyung walking around the room in a daze when they entered, and how they began arguing not long after. Their fights were normal, but Yoongi was perplexed by what Taehyung said. Why was Jia at fault? How was she at fault? Why would Taehyung blame her and she didn't refuse?
Yoongi stood there watching the couple yell, oblivious to the fact that his nephew was crying. The young one was just a day ago planning how he'd go on a picnic with both of his parents and enjoy their time together. But here, they were fighting like street dogs.
Ji-hu pulled his arm from Yoongi's grip and dashed over to Taehyung. His tears were flowing down his face as he hugged his legs. "Appa~ No fight."
Yoongi felt bad to see his nephew like this. Ji-hu didn't deserve any of this.
On the other hand, when the couple saw their son, they stopped fighting and looked at him, who was crying and hugging Taehyung's legs.
Taehyung crouched down and lifted Ji-hu up in his arms. Soon, the kid wrapped his arms around his father's neck and rested his head on his neck. "Appa, no fight with eomma. I wuv chu~" he pleaded in between his sniffles.
Taehyung rubbed soothing circles behind Ji-hu's back, whispering, "We weren't fighting, bub. Look at Appa." He requested gently, which made him soon look at his father. Taehyung flashed a boxy grin, earning a peck on his lips from Ji-hu. He soon chuckled with his tear-stained cheeks.
Jia and Yoongi were both cooing as they interacted.
"Eomma~" Ji-hu turned to face his mother. "I like TaeTae." He informed her. "Can I call him Appa?"
Jia and Taehyung exchanged puzzled looks in response to the innocent query. The mother sighed and agreed, oblivious to how Jungkook would feel about the approval in the future.
Once everyone had calmed down, Jia and Ji-hu returned to their home, while Yoongi went to his studio.
Taehyung, on the other hand, phoned someone.
"Hyung, what should I do? Jia wants to move on with Jungkook. What should I do?"
He listened to the other side and then answered again, "But hyung, she doesn't know the truth. No one knows it yet. I decided to let her know once she has forgiven me."
"Okay, hyung. I'll see what I can do. Bye!"
Looking at the phone screen, he sighed. I think I should do what Hyung is asking me to. I can't let you move on.
