Chapter 26

~ To (Name) ~

You slowly woke up as you felt a sudden warmth on your face. As you opened your eyes, the sun blinded you which caused you to sit up in bed. But something was off to you. It didn't hit you until you rubbed your eyes and became aware of your surroundings.

"Am I... back home?" You thought to yourself. You quickly got out of bed and ran to the window. Your eyes widened as you were staring at the Leaf Village.

"H-How... This isn't possible..." you questioned. You then looked towards the Hokage stone faces and was shocked to see someone else in the fourth Hokage placement instead of your father Minato. You slowly backed away from the window, quickly got dressed, and tried to run out of the house until you heard someone call you.

"Oi, (Name)! Where are you going?"

You froze as you recognized his voice. You could hardly believe it. You slowly turned around as you saw Kakashi sitting on the couch with Rai in his arms sleeping. You nearly found yourself in tears until a part of you questioned how the hell you were home instead of being held captive by Madara.

"(Name), is something wrong?" Kakashi spoke with a concerned tone. He stood up and walked over to you, causing Rai to wake up and stare at both of you. You instinctively grabbed your son and held him close.

'This can't be real... why am I home? All I remember is getting knocked out by Obito and Kabuto. And even the Hokage Stone Monument is wrong... this must be genjutsu.'

"I'm sorry, I have to head out and get some errands done. Could you watch over Rai today, please?" You spoke as you gave Rai back to Kakashi, which caused Rai to fuss as he wanted to be in your arms. Kakashi only looked at you questionably, only to then kiss you and smile.

"Fine, but don't take long. You know this is my first free day in a long time, I just want to spend it with my family." Kakashi smiled as he was calming Rai down. You felt like your heart was melting, but at the same time, you knew what was happening wasn't real.

"Don't worry, I won't be long at all." You smiled before you ran out the house. You ran so much that you ended up on top of a building, looking at the stone monument up close. You didn't know the random man who took the fourth spot. You formed a hand seal in an attempt to release the jutsu.

"Release!" You waited for a moment until you opened your eyes to see that nothing had changed. You turned pale as you felt like you were gonna pass out.

"What the hell is going on..."

"Nee-chan! What you doing up there?"

You looked down to see Naruto but with longer hair than usual. You were confused by it but went down to confirm any suspicions.

"Um, I was just doing some thinking. How are you doing, Naruto?" You smiled until he made an irritated expression.

"Naruto? Nee-chan don't make fun of my name. Just call me by my actual name for a change." The Naruto look alike spoke in a sophisticated tone that wasn't anything like the younger brother you knew. You were confused until you heard someone yelling towards you.

"Menma-kun! There you are!" You looked over to see Naruto's friends but they all were different! It's like their personalities were completely flipped. But what caught you off guard the most was Sasuke walking up to you smiling.

"(Name)-sensei! You are looking as beautiful as ever, I simply don't know how you manage to stay so stunning." Sasuke smirked as he held out a flower to you. You cringed, this Sasuke was way different from the one you knew.

"Out of the way, womanizer! Menma-kun! Let's ditch everyone and have dinner." Hinata spoke as she held onto Menma's arm. Sakura, who appeared to be the same, grabbed Menma's other arm and yanked him in the opposite direction.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?! If Menma is gonna leave with anyone it's gonna be with me!"

You were really taken aback by everyone's different personalities. But it gave rise to another suspicion. You could've been in an alternate universe or an inescapable genjutsu.

"Get off of me. I can't hang out with any of you today. Nee-chan and I are going to be home celebrating our mom's birthday." Menma spoke as he shoved both girls off of him. Your eyes widened from his words.

"Awe come on, Menma! Let's go eat some barbecue and then we will get out of your way." Shikamaru spoke with a smile as he pat Menma's back. Menma only shoved his hands in his pocket and clicked his tongue. You actually grabbed Menma from his arm and pulled him towards you.

"Sorry, but Menma has to help me pick a gift for our mom. Maybe next time!" You spoke as you ran away from the group while pulling Menma away. He didn't fight it either. He just kept a blank face while waving bye to his friends.

~ Time Skip ~

After spending nearly the entire day with Menma, observing his actions and attempting to act accordingly, you both were walking up to a house that you knew well enough. You stopped before going up the stairs due to sudden anxiety. Menma looked back at you questionably.

"Is something wrong, Nee-chan? You look out of it." Menma spoke as he went down the steps towards you. You suddenly returned your attention to Menma as you realized you weren't moving.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. Just realized I should've brought Kakashi and Rai with us to surprise mom..." you quickly lied to cover up what was really going on in your mind.

"Oh don't worry, Kakashi-sensei knew the plans already. If anything he might be here already." Menma spoke nonchalantly as he turned back around and made his way up the stairs. You sighed as you managed to convince him.

'I wonder... if they will be different from how I remember them too...' you thought as you followed Menma upstairs and entered the house.

"We're home!" Menma yelled was you both took off your shoes at the door. You continued to follow Menma into the living room area and saw Kakashi on the floor doing push-ups with the same kind of energy Gai would have, which confused you. You also saw Rai in a crib sleeping nearby Kakashi as well, making you smile as you saw how close you felt they could be.

"You two made it right on time, Kushina should be arriving soon." Hearing this familiar voice made you freeze. You slowly turned around as you were shocked to see your father, Uzumaki Minato, smiling towards both you and Menma. He was drying up some dishes while wearing an apron, which was something you remembered him doing before. Unconsciously, you ran and hugged Minato. He was surprised but chuckled as he returned the hug.

"Looks like someone missed me?" Minato smiled as you slowly let go of him to wipe away the tiny tears you had in your eyes. You returned the smile and nodded. Minato exhaled and rested his hand on your head.

"Welcome home, (Name)."

Your eyes widened as you felt this warmth before. Your father was exactly how you remembered him. However, suddenly you caught yourself before you became even more entranced.

'This... isn't real... it has to be genjutsu... you're supposed to be gone'

"Mom's here! Quick everyone hide!" Menma whispered loudly as he turned off the lights and hid himself. You went behind the table with Kakashi, who was holding you close and smiling. Inside, you knew he wasn't really the Kakashi you knew, but part of you was longing for everything to be real.

As soon as you heard the door close, you heard Kushina's voice as she was settling in at the front door.

"I'm home! Anyone here?" Kushina yelled as she was taking her shoes off.

Hearing her voice nearly made you faint. Everything was happening so fast for you. It was a shock to experience everything that was going on because it felt so real to you.

Suddenly, the lights turned back on and you found yourself yelling surprise to Kushina as she screamed and nearly attacked Menma. She started smiling and hugging everyone. She then got to you and hugged you. Hesitant, you slowly returned the hug and rested your head on her shoulder.

"Happy birthday, mom..."

A/N: there is a lot going on in the world so I thought returning to what I missed doing would bring me some peace from the madness. Remember to practice self care during these times where your mental health is exhausted. I love everyone and wish you blessings as well as safety to yourself and your families.

I am back but writing might take time for me to get readjusted to, so please bare with me.
