He Fights
Ganondorf sat upon the throne of Hyrule still, mind awhirl with possible ways to torture the damned Hero who dogged his footsteps like the mutt he was. A smirk lined the Gerudo King's bearded face, twisting his leathery skin as he smiled. The Hero would not make it out of this. Not ever. He cast his mind out, using his Triforce piece to locate Link. The Hero was in terrible shape, legs broken and eyes vacant, mouth agape revealing wolf like fangs, wincing and hissing, trying not to cry out in pain, ploughing onwards because his insufferable imp wouldn't let him stop. She, Ganondorf thought, had the right idea. Her desire to end his life would deliver the weakened hero to the feet of the one destined to kill him. Power blazing from the back of his hand, he entered the mind of Link, only to be met with blinding agony, bones smashed, mind bent, everything had been beaten out of this kid in the most extreme ways possible. There was nothing left in this pitiful shell to even put up a fight.

Midna flinched as her wolf collapsed against the wall, leaning on it for support like his life depended on it. 'To be fair' She thought, looking over him with a Twili's careful eye. 'It probably did'. A shuddering sigh punctuated by painful wheezing came from his bloodied chest. She bowed her head, remembering how much fun he'd been to be around, patient, sarcastic, endlessly loving. She took a deep breath, a habit she'd picked up from Link, and walked out of his hunched shadow. She knew exactly what she needed to do, even if it broke him beyond salvation, the world needed saving and he was the only one who could even try to step up. She knew how she felt was a selfish lie, it always had been. Midna tenderly took one mangled hand in her tiny ones, letting his soulless eyes stare sightlessly into hers, and she raised her head to his, and kissed him once, gently on the cheek, hoping that he would be alright. Hoping desperately that he would be okay, the boy she loved. One blue eye peeled itself open, and she looked straight into the soul of the Hero. He raised his arms, straining to reach her, and pulled her close. He let out a hoarse sob, screaming his pain to the world until his voice gave out. She knew she'd broken him, sealed his fate. If tears escaped her control that night, well, nobody need know.

Advancing slowly, imp supporting his entire body, straining with every step, he moved towards the reclining Gerudo. Link stood before Ganondorf, breaths rattling out of his lungs, occasionally coughing up blood with a strange, very unsettling squelching sound. The King of Evil knew this Hero's time was drawing to an end. He, the great King of Evil, Blessed by Din, would be the one to crush this pathetic farm boy and claim victory over Hyrule. His eyes settled on the limp body of Zelda floating above his head, and a thin smile fleetingly hovered over his calm face. Drawing the power of Power to bear once more, he forced himself into the holy body of the sacred Princess, crushing any resistance her divine soul may have put up, drawing her thin rapier and brandishing it at the struggling boy, any semblance of the Goddesses' power leaving him. Courage had fled, leaving the hero to fight alone. Ganondorf forced the Princess's delicate face into a sneer, golden eyes flicked at Midna. "I applaud you, little fool. You have delivered my nemesis right to me, and for that I am grateful. However, I don't know what you've done to him, the poor child. He looks like he's been through the Hyrulean Civil War. Don't you know you're supposed to take care of your hero, little foolish princess? Especially one so beloved to yourself." With satisfaction, he watched the imp look back at him, then float up to her Hero, gazing deep into his revived blue eyes, he watched her press her face into his bloodstained chest, crying out a goodbye. She, like him, knew Link wouldn't make it out of this. Well, if she was never going to get to tell him... She might as well tell him now. "Link, I-" She began, her voice wavering on the edge of tears. "I love you"

She wrapped her arms around him, forgetting the sorrows that had been pressed upon them, enjoying simply being alive. Unfortunately, she also forgot that he had completely shattered his ribcage, and his pained whimper startled out of her reverie. Ganondorf, impatient and ready to kill, summoned a ball of magic, calling forth what remained of Zelda's essence and forcing it to bend to his will, crafting his dark powers into her holy ones, forcing together Light and Shadow. Midna startled, gaze snapping to Ganondorf, and she screeched, a sound like a cat having its tail pulled, just as the energy flew directly at the hero's face. The only thing he could see was white.

The Twili with the Wisdom piece
Her faithful dog whose life will fade
Their quest to restore the fragile peace
Will see both kingdoms be unmade
No brave soul to problems solve
They will live under his fable
For he will crush their iron resolve
And they will stay miserable
