Chapter 8
Mathew
Sentence(s) of the chapter- "Oh mom, if only you saw her...." I mumbled before being taken by welcomed sleep.
Lil. It suited her. Her personality, her look, her smile. I thought about how people slashed her tires, how they stomped all over her in the hallway. People were cruel, but I already knew that. She thanked me so many times, I lost count. For giving her and her brothers a ride, for staying with her, and although she never specifically said it out loud, I knew she was also thanking me for not judging her. I could just tell. I guess, in a way, I was thanking her back, for the same reasons. For letting me drive her home, for letting me stay, for not judging me.
I thought about all of this silently on the car ride home. Soon, I had pulled into my driveway and was turning off my car. I pocketed my keys and walked in my house quietly. Mom's asleep, so I tried not to wake her up. I heard that she had a bad day at work.
I walked up the carpeted stairs and down the hallway to my room. I opened my door, failing at trying not to let it make a noise. I winced as I heard floorboards being stepped on.
"Hey hon," I heard her soft voice say. I turned to see her. She had bed hair and pajamas on.
"Hey mom. Sorry I'm home late. A new friend of mine asked if I wanted to stay at her house for pizza." I said, a smile on my face as I remembered her face from a few minuets ago.
"A her huh? Well, I certainly want info, but I'll ask in the morning. Off to bed," she said, giving me a kiss to the cheek and walking out. I shut the door behind her and flopped on my black bed sheets.
"Oh mom, if only you saw her...." I mumbled before being taken by welcomed sleep.

"Mathew! Your going to be late!" Mom shouted from downstairs, knocking me out of a pleasant dream. I groaned and got up, running my hands through my brown hair. I noticed that I went to sleep with my clothes on, and mentally face palmed.
I quickly changed into some black skinny jeans and a dark colored t-shirt. I put on my black converse and went downstairs. I was greeted by a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats in front of me.
"Morning. You have to hurry up, school starts in an hour and I know that you'll stop and get coffee before you get there." She smiled. I took a few bites and grabbed my backpack. I gave her a quick kiss and walked out the door, getting into my car.
As mother said, I stopped at a local coffee shop.
"Hi, what do you want!" The girl behind the desk said, a little to happily. She had long dark hair and a bright smile.
"A small coffee, black please," I said, taking out the 3 dollars it costs. She smiled big as she handed me my drink. I thanked her and walked back to my car. I then, drinking and driving, drove to the heck hold that is Jackson High. I sighed as I parked and got out of my small black car.
By now I was done with my drink, and threw it away in the trashcan that's in front of the school. I walked in and was swarmed by teenagers. As soon as they saw me, the quickly moved out of the way. I walked through them, and went to my locker.
I put in my combination and opened my locker, stuffing my books into it. They hardly fit, all because the school couldn't get bigger lockers.
"Hey! That's mine! Ow!" I heard a girl say. I recognized the voice and prayed it wasn't her as I turned around. There she was, on the ground, surrounded by a bunch of papers. I closed my locker and rushed over to where people were laughing. I pushed people out of the way angrily as I neared her. I got passed the crowd and went over to her, helping her up.
Everyone's laughter stopped. They watched as I helped her pick up her folder and all her papers. All but one...
"Give it back!" She said, looking at the boy who held her paper in his hands.
"Make me," He said snobbishly.
"Give it back," I said to him, walking closer. His snobbish look turned to horror. He instantly passed me the paper. I gave it her then turned to the boy in front of me. "Did you trip her?" I asked calmly.
"Maybe I did." He said, trying to be brave. I laughed. Right there, just started laughing. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy.
"Dont be brave, it doesn't work for you. Apologize," I said with a smile.
"No. She shouldn't have tripped over my foot that happened to be in her way," He said. I had had enough of this guy, so i pushed him against the wall. Not hard, but enough to scare him. "Alright! Im sorry," He said.
"Sorry for what," I said.
"Sorry for tripping you." He said.
"Don't say it to me, you tripped her." I said. He sighed loudly and turned to Lilly.
"I'm sorry for tripping you," He mumbled.
"Excuse me? What was that Dalian?" She said, turning her ear to him. I smiled.
"I'm sorry for tripping you! Can I go now? I'm gonna be late," He said. I let him go and watched as he and his friend scurried down the hallway. I turned to see her with a smirk on her face.
"Thanks. I don't like your tactics, but thanks." She smiled.
"Eh," I said, shrugging. She straitened out her dress and fixed her ponytail. I put my hands in my pockets as I remembered something that made me physically face palm. "I'm a terrible person." I said, shaking my head.
Wassup guys! Well, this will be that last update for a few days. School and everything. Goodnight everyone!
