Chapter 42
Mathew
"When can I leave? I'm feeling much better," Lilly said to the doctor. He chuckled and shook his head.
"You're not fully recovered, meaning that you'll have to stay the night again. However," he paused, watching the nurse walk out of the room. "You can leave the hospital for a few minuets. Maybe get some ice cream or coffee," he said with a smile. Lilly's face lit up.
"Mathew! Let's get some ice cream!" She squealed. I laughed. "Thank you!" She told the doctor.
"You didn't hear it from me," he said. She made the zipper motion across her mouth. He soon left the room.
"Let's go!" She said. I helped her up and into a wheel chair, seeing as she couldn't walk well.
"There's a small ice cream shop across from the hospital, we'll go there," I said. She turned as I grabbed the handles of the chair.
"Thank you," she said.
"Don't thank me, thank your awesome doctor," I said.
"He is awesome isn't he!" She said. I wheeled her out of the room and to the elevator. She talked about her favorite ice cream flavor as we got on. It was Strawberry. Sweet, just like her.
She rambled as we went outside. She suddenly stopped talking.
"Lilly?" I said. She shushed me.
"Listen!" She said quietly. I did. The birds were singing in the tree tops. The branches swaying to the slow wind. The leaves falling. Everything seemed In sync. "Ah," she said, exhaling a large breath. "Do you feel it?" She asked.
"Feel what?" I said, confused.
"The warmth! Do you feel it?" She asked again. I stood, finally realizing that yes, I felt the warmth. Whether she meant literally or figuratively, I felt it. I took a deep breath in, feeling the world hit me. My eyes landed on a certain blond who I was very fond of. She looked so animated out here. Like she hadn't seen the sun or felt the warmth of it for days.
"Yeah, I do," I said to her. She smiled.
"I knew you would. Some people can't, but you and I can! Now let's go get some ice cream!" She said with a giggle. I nodded, chuckling to myself as we made our way over to the ice cream shop.

"Strawberry's better,"
"No way. Chocolate mint is,"
"Ew! Strawberry!"
"Mint,"
"Strawberry!"
"Mint,"
"Strawberry!"
"Strawberry,"
"Mint!... Wait, what? You tricked me!"
"You openly admitted that mint was better,"
"No I didn't! You're a... Tricky trickster!"
"Really Lilly, a tricky trickster?"
"It was the best I could come up with,"
"You're hopeless,"
"I know,"

"Hey!" Kelly and Jess exclaimed, coming in.
"Jess! Kells!" Lilly said, sitting up to embrace them. After a hug session (that I was forced into), they sat down.
"How are you?" Kelly asked quietly.
"I'm feeling better I guess. Little things hurt still, but other than that I feel good. The doctor says I have to stay another night, but then i'm free to go home," She said with excitement. Lilly hates hospitals, and I can kind of see why. The smell, the bland walls, the constant waiting. It's boring, and utterly dull.
"Oh mt gosh! Slumber party at my house!" Jess yelled.
"She means my house," Kelly said with a smile.
"Yeah, what she said," Jess said.
"Did I just hear a 'that's what she said' joke?" Aaron said, walking in. Carter came in behind him, pecking Kelly on the cheek.
"No you didn't," Jess said. Aaron laughed. "Oh my gosh! You guys should come too!" Jess exclaimed.
"I feel like we should back up slowly," Carter said to Aaron and I.
"It'll be fun! You guys are invited to a slumber party at my house!" Jess said with a huge grin.
"She means my house," Kelly said, again.
"Yeah," Jess said.
"I'm down," Carter said.
"Eh, girls... fine," Aaron said.
"Wont you come Mathew!" Lilly said, grabbing my hand and looking at me. I can't resist.
"Why not?" I shrugged. Jess and Lilly both said "Yes!" at the same time and began to laugh. Kelly soon joined them, their giggles echoing through the room.
"I can't handle this. Y'all want some coffee?" Aaron asked.
"Me and Kelly want our usual!" Jess said. Aaron nodded. Me and Carter went over to him, deciding that we'd leave the girls to be girls.
"I want one!" Lilly said.
"That one's decaf," I said.
"Hey!"
"I've seen your brothers, i'm afraid of what you'll do. They wreaked the house, i'd rather not find out what you do when on caffeine,"
"No fair," She said, crossing her arms.
"Come on," I said with a chuckle, holding open the door for the guys. I quietly shut the door and walked with the guys down to the elevator.
"She's got you man," Aaron said to me.
"What?" I said, confused.
"He means that you love her," Carter explained. My face turned very hot.
"So what if I do?" I said nonchalantly. Aaron gasped and Carter looked impressed.
"You've become Carter!" Aaron exclaimed.
Is it such a bad thing to love someone? Because it seems to be working out fine for me.
