Chapter 41

Lilly
"Alright Lilly, I'm just going to ask you a few questions to make sure you don't have minor memory loss," the doctor said. I nodded. "What's your last name?"

"Lycaster. Lilly Lycaster," I said. This should be easy. He scribbled something down on a note pad and looked back up to me.

"Good. Next, who are these people?" He said, pointing to Mathew and his mom.

"That's Mathew and Mathews mom," I answered with ease.

"Great," he said, again scribbling on the notepad. "One more question. I understand that you have two brothers, correct? Can you state there names?" He asked. For some reason, something clicked in my mind.

My brothers. My brothers. They're gone. They're still gone. My brothers. Gone. That's right. My mother took them from me.

All these thought clouded my brain, everything went foggy. Why does my chest hurt. Air. I need air. Breath. How do you do that again?

It became harder and harder to breath. Was this anxiety or something? Why can't I catch my breath? Is the room getting smaller? Are the walls moving?!

"She's hyperventilating!" The doctor yelled out. I looked to Mathew, panic spread wide on my face. He jumped forward.

"Lilly, breath. In and out. You know how to breath. In and out," he said calmly. "In and out," he said, looking strait into my eyes.

I did as he said. In and out. In and out. Suddenly, it seemed like everything was fine. Tears came to my eyes. Tears because I couldn't breath. Tears because they're gone. Tears because I'm a stupid teenager who thought she could handle two boys. I sobbed as Mathew sat next to me.

He pulled me into a hug, and I cried into his shirt. He wrapped his arms around me as I wept, sending me soft words.

"That's enough for today. Good job young man," I heard the doctor say. I heard lots of footsteps, and soon, it was only Mathew, his mom, and I in the room.

"Oh honey, it'll be alright," his mom said, sitting on the other side of me. I let go of Mathew and looked to her.

"You're so nice," I said through the tears. She chuckled and held her arms out, me gladly falling into them. She was like the mother of never known was possible. "I wish my mom was like you. All she did was ruin my life," I said.

"Well, me and Mathew will always be here for you, okay?" She said. I nodded, wiping my eyes.

"I'm an idiot," I said under my breath.

"No you're not," Mathew said. How did he hear me?

"Yes I am," I said softer. Suddenly, his large hand grabbed my jaw, forcing me to look at him.

"You're not an idiot. I don't want to hear you call yourself one ever again, okay?" He said seriously. I nodded. He squished my cheeks, not letting go of my face. He though it was funny.

"Matcheew?" I said through squished cheeks.

"Yeah?"

"Tat hurtchs," I said. He chucked and let go of my face. His mom laughed.

"You guys are really something," she said. "I wish I was your age," she laughed. I giggled.

"So, I'm going to go get some coffee, anyone want anything?" Mathew asked. I shook my head along with his mother. He kissed my forehead before walked out of the room.

I looked back to his mom and saw she was crying.

"What's wrong!" I said, worried. She chuckled and wiped her tears away with a smile.

"Nothing. He's just... Different now," she paused. "He's happier since he's met you," she said. I blushed. "He looked like he could tear down a town when they wouldn't let him see you. When you were in the ambulance I mean," She said. "Then once you moved, and he felt it, he practically jumped for joy. You've cracked his shell," She said.

"No, he did it himself. I hit gave him a push," I beamed. She started crying as I engulfed her in a hug. I laughed to myself. We pulled away right as Mathew walked in.

"Did I miss something?" He said skeptically. She got up and hugged him as she laughed. He looked over her shoulder to me. He mouthed 'what happened?'

I merely shook my head and smiled.

Hia friends! I know, I know, I know it's been a while, and that updates are slow, but I'm trying here. I'm on spring break now, so hopefully I'll be able to post more. Alright, well, goodbye for now!
