Chapter 39
Lilly
Everything was a blur. A huge, empty blur. I felt numb. I couldn't move. I couldn't think. It was numb, until the pain came. It all rushed back to me so fast. The crash, the car, the windshield, and the seat-belt that didn't protect me. It was still fuzzy, on what happened. Who was to blame? I don't really know. All I remember was that everything moved faster than I could comprehend, and I didn't feel the pain until I woke up.
Lights. That's what I thought they were. You know how in some movies, where someones being rushed into instant care, and you see lights pass by on the ceiling? That isn't a lie. There was shouting, ad flashes of faces I don't know. Who were they? What was going on.
"She's awake! Someone, get me a sedative!" Someone shouted, putting something in my neck before I went out.
---
"You don't understand! None of you do!" I heard someone shout, making my head hurt. I groaned, trying to move, but I couldn't. Why can't I move? Suddenly, I regained enough feeling in my hand to know that someone was holding it. I tried my hardest to squeeze, hardly moving at all. I tried again, using more strength this time. The person holding my hand seemed to notice, because they gasped. It was definitely a male voice. You could just tell.
"L-Lilly?" He said. "She moved! She squeezed my hand! I felt it!" He said, sounding excited.
"Mathew, the doctors said she wouldn't wake up for at least a week. Don't fool yourself," A woman said softly, gently. I know these people, but I don't. I know the voices, but I can't name them, and it frustrates me. Someone's hand was taken from mine, and another was put in it's place.
"She did! Lilly, if you can hear me, squeeze again," He said, sounding desperate. Was it really Mathew? Did I hear it right? God I hoped it was him. Even if it wasn't, I did as he said. All my energy was sapped as I lightly squeezed the hand.
"Mathew! Get the doctor!" The woman said, obviously surprised by my movement. Steps were heard, walking in and out. "She moved! She squeezed our hand," The woman explained to someone.
"Hmm," A new voice hummed. It seemed to be deeper than the others. "Are you sure?" He said. Few, soft words were exchanged, and I couldn't make them out. I tried to open my eyes, to use my voice, but all that came was a soft noise. So, I tried harder.
"M....." I said softly, finding a new voice in the back of my throat. It burned. "Mm..." I said, desperately trying to get something out. Everything hurt. Why am I so weak? Well, being hit by a car might do that.
"Oh my. Miss Lilly, are you awake?" The new voice said.
"Mmm..." I said, feeling the harsh sting speaking brought.
"That probably hurts. Someone get me a cup of water, we will see what we can do for her," The person said.
---
I eventually gave up, the pain being to much for me. It just hurt so much! I ended up going back to the numbness. When I woke up however, everything was different. I was in control. I felt the same soft hand in mine as I did before. I heard soft snores next to me. It took almost everything I had to squint my eyes open.
I took in my surroundings. A hospital. I hate hospitals. I tried moving my head, and winced when the slight pain came. I looked down next to me, and sitting on a chair was none other than My Prince Charming himself. I shook my hand, jolting him awake. He shot up, looking strait into my eyes. God I love his eyes. We sat in silence for a minuet, unsure on what to say.
"Ma-" I started, by my voice was scratchy and scraggly. It make my throat burn, causing me to go into a coughing fit. He jumped up and got me a glass of water, quickly holding it to my mouth and letting me drink it. The cool water make my throat feel so much better, you have no idea. He pulled away and sat back down as I got my breath back.
"Don't try to talk, it'll send you back into the coughing," He said. He sat there for a moment before he practically jumped on me, giving me a hug. I winced, but I didn't let him see it. He probably needed this hug more than I did. "Who do you think you are," He said shakily. Was he crying? O-over me? "Scaring me like that. You have no right," He chuckled, pulling away. Tears slightly brimmed his eyes. Gosh, now he was making me cry! It's not my fault i'm sappy...
I rubbed my thumb on his face, trying to assure him that I meant no harm. He took it in his hands and pressed his face into it, making me blush.
Alright, I know. Go ahead. Give me the hate. I know that 'sorry' wont make up for the time I didn't post. All my friends were pestering me about it, and I finally found time. I guess I got swept away. I'm sorry.
