Chapter 30
Mathew
Sentence(s) of the week- "Unfortunately, high school is a hell we can't escape," I said
I didn't know what to do. How to comfort her. She was here, in my arms. She just keeps sobbing. I understand why. She practically raised those boys, only for her mother to rip them from her. Also, what kind of a mother does that to a child?
I was pushed out of my thoughts by the light breaths of Lilly. She had fallen asleep.
I can't just leave her here, that's cruel. I carefully picked her up bridal style, and put her into my car. She was surprisingly light. She was going to come home with me, so I could help her through this. I made sure to lock her house door before getting in my car and driving to my house, where I hope I can help her more.
---
"Mathew is that- oh my! Is she alright?" Mom exclaimed. I quickly shushed her and brought Lilly up to my room and set her easily on the bed. I walked back downstairs to explain everything to mom.
"That poor child," mom said after I told her what happened. "She must be very upset," she said.
"Honestly, my manliness is showing. I have no idea on how to make her feel better," I said with a chuckle. Mom smiled softly.
"You like her a lot, huh? I like her too. She reminds me of myself when I was her age. If she goes the way I did, she'll be very sad for a while, but will bounce back. Give it time," she said. I nodded and she went up to her room. I thought about it for a while. I've never really seen Lilly sad, I've seen disappointment, anger, but not full saddens. This won't be easy...
---
"Are you sure I-it wasn't a dream?" Lilly asked as she stared at my ceiling.
"I'm sure," I said. She turned the other way and started crying. "Why would she take them?" I asked, hoping for an answer. She hasn't really said anything on the subject.
"The are heirs to her company. They have to know how to run it. She'll teach them how to be like her, ruthless. Greedy," Lilly said. she turned back to look at me with her red, puffy eyes. I can't stand to see her like this.
"She's not that bad, is she?" I asked, hoping for a 'no' that never came.
"She gave me a sprained ankle and a hurt wrist. This was only a little of what she can do. Why do you think I live here? She forced me to go with her, to her company. It was awful. I had to do terrible things. So when I heard that I could do what my older brother did before me, and run back here, I did. I escaped, but not easily. Lets just say that when she realized I left, she never talked to me until now. Why does my life suck," She said, covering her face with her hands. I thought about asking her about her brother later, cause this was obviously a bad time.
"I'd say that It didn't suck, but I can't lie to you Lilly," I told her. She took her hands away from her face and gave me a sad smile.
"I appreciate that. That you wont tell me everything's going to be okay when you know it isn't." She said softly. She got up and tried to walk to me, seeing as I was at the other side of the room. However, she only made it halfway before I caught her.
"You need medical attention. Come with me," I said, taking her good arm and helping her down the stairs. I guess it was a good thing that my mom had taken those nursing lessons, because she knew exactly what to do with Lilly.
---
I took her to her house to get changed. Then, we were off to a sucky day of school.
When we got there, I instantly noticed people snickering at us. They can snicker all they want, good for them. We walked inside and was bombarded with questions from Jess and Kelly.
"Are you okay?"
"Sorry I missed your call,"
"I-I'm f-fine guys," she said, obviously not okay. They looked to me, worried. I shook it off and sent them a warning face, 'Don't press'. The nodded. "Do we have to be here," she said softly, looking up to me with red eyes. I nodded.
"Unfortunately, high school is a hell we can't escape," I said. She looked to her feet and we shuffled to our lockers, which weren't far apart. When I was at my locker, I noticed Dalian at Lilly's. He was talking to her. I got closer but decided to let Lilly handle this one.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. What, mom didn't make you breakfast? Oh wait, you practically don't have one," he laughed. I was about to go over and damage his obnoxious face, when Lilly said something.
"Go away Dalian. I don't need your crap today," she said softly.
"Are you okay?" He asked. "Not like I care, you just look upset and I'd like to meet the person who did it," he smirked. She slammed her locker and turned to him. She had tears in her eyes. She looked.... Mad.
"Really Dalian. You really want to meet her? You want to know why I'm in this crap mood? You want to know why I'm crying! My poor excuse of a mother has just taken my two brothers from me, and I'll never see them again. Imagine if your mother did that to your sister! Are you happy now!" She practically screamed. He looked taken aback, then guilty. Everyone was looking there way. She pushed past them, grabbed my hand, and fast walked to our first class.
Lilly's gone and snapped at Dalian. Not. Surprised. I even think he's a jerk, and I wrote him in!
