Sentence(s) of the chapter- "We're not gorgeous, cause if we were, we wouldn't be in this crummy high school. Just remember, even the ugly duckling got a happy ending," she said.
I went off with the the two girls, Kelly and Jess, while Mathew talked to his friends. Kelly, the quiet shy one, was like me. Jess, however, was outgoing and talkative. It worked for her however, unlike other people. Jess had chocolate brown hair that was neatly in a ponytail that traveled to her shoulders. She had bright green eyes, which surprised me. She was wearing a bright green half shirt over a white tank-top. She looked like a snotty rich girl, but she was the complete opposite. She wore black skinny jeans and brown combat boots.
Kelly, well, all im gonna say, was that she looked like freaking a human Elsa. She had a nice platinum blonde side braid. She also wore a blue shirt with skinny jeans and blue converse. They were both gorgeous, and im here in a light pink knee dress with white flats. Talk about an all new low. They didn't even wear makeup and still looked great.
"So Lilly, this is probably gonna be really blunt, and you don't have to answer cause, ya know, we just met and its a little creepy, but do you like Mathew?" She asked with a smile on her face. Kelly's face went to horror and she punched Jess in the arm, looking at her with a glare. "What? I'm curious. She's pretty, nice, like, the total opposite of him. Shes colorful and he's, well, dark. He is obviously head over heels for her," She said, shrugging and facing Jess. I chocked on air, which is pretty much impossible, but somehow, it happened.
"Umm what? Were just friends. I'm not that pretty and what do you mean head over heels?" I asked curiously. Jess gasped and her hands shot to her mouth, covering it.
"You really are oblivious. You've never had a crush. Kel, catch me," Jess said dramatically, falling into Kelly's arms, making me giggle at her behavior. "He doesn't just open doors and pull out chairs for anyone Lilly. Your special to him somehow. I'm just looking out for you, because you seem to like him to. OMG Kel! Ship name, Stat!" Jess stated rather loudly then her original volume.
"Hmm, Lilthew? Nah, what about.... Mally!" Kelly said. Jess nodded and they high fived.
"Ship name?" I asked, kinda wanting to know and kinda not wanting to know.
"Dear god you live under a rock, a ship name is where when you like a couple, you put there names together. Lilly and Mathew make Mally, see?" She explained.
"We're not a thing. Friends, that's it." I said, feeling awkward.
"Then ask yourself, do friends do what you guys do? So friends pull out chairs for each other? Or open car doors for the other? I don't think so," she said, smirking. She made a good point, in every movie I've ever watched about two friends? They never did those things. I felt my face heat up and payed it on the table, finally giving in.
"Your right, but I don't like him, and he certainly doesn't like me. He's all cool and everything, where as I feel like the ugly duckling sitting you you two gorgeous people." I said, looking to them. I expected Jess to answer, but Kelly beat her to it.
"We're not gorgeous, cause if we were, we wouldn't be in this crummy high school. Just remember, even the ugly duckling got a happy ending," she said. I think that's the best advice I've ever heard. Just as I was about to respond, the bell rang, making me get lost in a crowd of teenagers.
