Chapter 11
ஐLillyஐ
Sentence(s) of the chapter- "Yeah, I feel that as well. We click on a lot of things and relate to each other," I said.
"Lilly watch out!" I heard Mathew
behind me. It took me a second to register what was going on as I was pulled backwards and onto my butt. I felt a large wind fly by me, followed by a car horn. I blinked, then again, and once last time before understanding what happened. "Are you okay?" Mathew said, coming and squatting in front of me. Our eyes met and i questioned what I saw. Worry?
"I think im fine... Thank you, I'd be roadkill by now if it wasnt for you." I said, smiling at him.
"You sure your fine? No damage?" He asked, helping me off the ground.
"Only a shaky mental state." I joked. He laughed and we walked across the road, and this time, I made sure a car wasn't coming.
"Hey guys," I said to the tiny humans who ran/rode over to me.
"Hey Lilly! Hi Mathew," they greeted.
"Whats up!" He said, giving them both a fist bump. I laughed, thanked the chess teacher, and took the guys outside.
"Are we going to the park?" Brandon asked excitedly. He loved the park, which is a little ironic.
"Mat? You can walk back to the house and go home if you want," I said, thinking that he wouldn't want to.
"You kidding? I'd love to," he said, making the boys faces light up. We walked across the 'death road' as I will forever call it, and down the street a little ways to the nearest park.
Brandon and Tim went over to the play ground while Mat and I stayed behind, sitting on a bench close by. I smiled as I watched the boys play around. I remember before the accident, when they would play around, both having two, working legs. Hanging dangerously on monkey bars and giving me mini heart attacks as they jumped off the moving swings. I remember how happy they both looked. Its not the same 'happy face' they both have today, and I know that. I remember the nights I rocked Brandon asleep as he cried in my arms. How his nights were restless. How he had to get used to his wheel chair, always bumping into things and getting so frustrated. I remember all those days.
"Lil?" Mat said beside me. My head flicked him look at him, and we bumped heads. we started laughing as we held our heads for a minuet. "What were you in deep thought about?" He asked curiously.
"The days when the two of them had actual, sincere happy faces. Sure, they look happy now, and they are, but they will never truly be happy. Especially Brandon." I said, looking to the both of them playing.
"I thought he was born that way," Mathew said.
"No. I caused that. That stupid wheel chair." I said, pointing to the chair Brandon was now glued to. "Don't say that it wasn't my fault, because it was. He's forgiving me, yeah, but I don't know if I've forgiven myself. I think about all the other situations that could've happened it I haven't....If-" But he cut me off.
"You don't have to tell me." He said softly, seeing my fumble for words.
"Thank you, I will tell you one day, but not today. Thank you for respecting my boundaries, unlike someone called Dalian..." I mumbled the last part angrily. Mat didn't say anything else, so I assumed, which a lot of relief, that he hadn't heard me.
"I've only known you for 2 days, but I somehow feel like I've always known you," he said, facing me.
"Yeah, I feel that as well. We click on a lot of things and relate to each other," I said. "Don't forget, tomorrow, I'm meeting your friends," I said excitedly.
Hey, I know it's short, but next chapter will be longer. This is like a filler chapter. Well, goodnight.
