Chapter 10: Dirty minded

Thank you @LiyaScriven for being active and voting <3

Just as I was placing my key into the door it flew open revealing a messy looking Calla. She was dressed in what she calls her 'house' clothes. Clothes that she wears around the house that aren't pyjamas, but she won't wear out. She grinned when she saw me but that quickly turned to confusion as she acknowledged the person behind me, Jace.

Flattening the frizzly parts and tucking loose strands of her straight black hair that fell out of her high ponytail behind her ear, she gave a polite nod and small, "Hi," to Jace and grabbed my right wrist and pulled me into the house.

"You brought him back here? What is going on with you two? Wait, is he staying over? I have got to tell Syd about this," she said almost inaudibly due to her saying this so fast and too quietly.

She whipped the phone out of her left back pocket and instantly called Sydney. I snatched the phone out of her hand and used my height as an advantage, holding it high up above her as I cancelled the call. I laughed at her terrible attempt at taking her phone back, jumping like a little mouse at her small height.

"Calla," I warned her making her stop and stand still, looking up at me.

"Nothing, and I mean nothing is going on between us. I don't know why or what made me invite him over, it just came out my mouth but now we're here," I paused for a second, thinking of what to say next.

"Now, I'll give your phone back if you promise not to call Sydney. She's at work and doesn't need bothering."

Calla stood there, thinking for a second before nodding, "I promise." I lowered my hand, giving Calla the phone. As soon as she got the device, she ran off to what I assume to be her room.

What was I doing again? Oh yeah, Jace. Where is he? I looked in the living room, kitchen, even the garden, not finding him anywhere.

He must have left.

Checking my phone for any notifications, my phone died. For god sake. I was pretty sure my charger was in my bedroom so that's where I headed.

"I thought you had left," I explained to a very comfortable looking Jace.

I walked further into my room, plugged my phone in when I properly took noticed of what he was doing. He was laying his stomach on my bed with the remote to my strip lights in his hand, changing the colours and exploring the different settings. He had definitely made himself at home.

"Did ya miss me?" He asked and winked at me.

"Well, people don't usually just allow themselves into other people's rooms, you know."

"Calla stole you and I couldn't be bothered to find you so I came in here as it would probably be the next place you were heading. I was right, was I not and anyway, it's not like I haven't been in here before."

"Touché" I replied, surprised by his logic. He had got a point to be fair.

"These lights are awesome; I need some for my room. Where did you get them?" Jace asked, looking up at me at the last part. I watched him, getting ready to answer his question when he ran a hand through his hair when his phone flashed. Why was that so cute?

"Y- You can get them from most places now however I got mine from amazon," I slightly stuttered, affected by his presence. With the way he was being, my opinion might change on him. I mean, the way we met wasn't exactly great and it was my fault. Maybe I just caught him on a bad day.

"Hmm, okay. You got a laptop? I want to get some now," he asked as he picked up his phone and replied to the notification.

I walked out of my room and headed to Sydney's when I heard Calla talking to someone downstairs. I snook down a few stairs, peeking through the railing to see Syd and Calla sitting there talking enthusiastically about something. I turned around and left them to it, knowing I'll most likely find out what they were talking about later.

I grabbed Syd's laptop off her desk when I noticed a pair of male jeans badly hidden under the desk.

I'm a very observant person and know where everything is so it doesn't take me long to notice something new. I left her room and headed to mine across the hall, pretending I didn't see anything.

We live together, yes, we do, but that doesn't mean there should be an invasion of privacy plus, she'll tell me when and if she's ready.

Sydney must have sensed me walking as I heard her call me down.

As soon as I entered the kitchen, I realised what was going to happen: she was going to try and interrogate me.

"So, I got a call saying that you had brought Jace back after spending the day with him," Syd told me, taking a sip of her drink afterwards. I glared at Calla. Why does she always have to what I tell her not to?

"Honestly, Ivy, what is going on between you two?"

"I think Calla forgot to tell you the part where I told her that nothing is going on."

"Sure," Syd sarcastically commented as Calla rolled her eyes. Why wouldn't they believe me?

"I like him, but as a friend. I have not known him long and all I know is that he gives off big dick energy." I instantly regretted what I had just said when Sydney spat out her drink and Calla choked on her food.

I definitely did not mean it in the way my two dirty minded best friends were thinking of it.

They looked at each other before breaking out in hysterics. I am friends with idiots.

"He gives off 'big dick energy'!" Calla howled as Syd almost fell off her chair.

"I didn't mean it like that, and you know it! I meant that he acts like a dick, an asshole, prick, whatever the fuck you want to call it. Not in the way you two are thinking," I said getting frustrated with the way they were acting.

I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and hoped both of them would shut up.

But of course, they didn't. Why would they?

They turned and looked at Jace, who was now stood at the bottom of the stairs which sent them off laughing even harder. I wished I had never said anything.

"What's going on? Why do you two look like you're dying?" He asked, confused at the commotion.

"Ivy here just said that you give off-" I ran over to Calla, covered her mouth with my hand before she finished that sentence. Sydney gave me a look.

"You better not!" I mouthed at her.

"What did you say, Ivy?" Jace questioned, obviously entertained by the way everyone was acting.

"I said nothing." I walked towards him, grabbed his wrist. I felt the heat of his skin against my own. A tingly sensation ran from my hand and up my back. I noticed his eyes flicker down to where I had held him and then up to my eyes.

"Come on! I've got the laptop let's go!" I said to him and dragged him upstairs.

I slammed my door shut just as I heard Syd and Calla shouting something. I walked over to where Jace was already sat on my bed and opened up the laptop.

"What was that all about?"

"Absolutely nothing. Just those two being dickheads."

"What did you say, princess?" He whispered, leaning closer to me, completely ignoring what I had just previously said. I felt my cheeks heat up. Even with my natural brown skin tone, I knew I was blushing. I am mixed race (half black and half white to put it simply) so it's not impossible for me to do so but I rarely blush.

I cleared my throat, effected by the proximity of our bodies. "Nothing that concerns you," I retorted, my voice not sounding as strongly as I would have liked.

We sat there just like that for a few minutes before his phone was heard ringing, breaking up whatever was going on. He looked at me for a second longer before picking up his phone, walked up to my window, and answered it.

He got off the phone and was worried. You could tell that by the line that had formed between his eyebrows, the way he was pacing back and forth while talking, the way he kept running his hand through his hair and over his face, everything. I hadn't known him long, but anyone could tell that something was going on.

"What's wrong?" I asked concerned.

"I have to go," he replied frustrated, running his hand through his brown hair for the fifth hundredth time in the last five minutes.

"Do you want me to drive?"

"No. I'll get an uber," he grabbed his coat off the back of my door, getting ready to leave.

Stood in the threshold of my room, he faced me.

"I will tell you once everything is sorted, okay?" I hesitantly looked at him. He must have noticed this because he then said, "I promise."

I could tell he was telling the truth by the honesty in his eyes.

"Okay," I said. With that, I heard him lightly sigh as he walked out.

What are your honest opinions of the story so far?

This was kind of rushed and I was tired whilst writing the most of this so its not exactly as I want but its good enough lmao.

Also, something kind of big may or may not happen in the next chapter so keep an eye out for the notification ;)
