The Police Pup
Georgie and Olive must have fallen asleep at some point because she woke up with a start when she heard a baby crying. She sighs slowly getting up as not to wake Olive, finding a bassinet with Eden inside a sticky note on it saying Ben had a calling and had to go. The only problem was this was not Ben's handwriting. She picks up the child slowly placing her on her hip as she moves about the house. She would just make smaller pancakes for Eden.
Mira walks into the kitchen a few minutes later when she feels the lack of Georgie's presence. She barks a, "Good morning," to her owner and jumps onto one of the kitchen chairs. Georgie just smiles with some relief seeing her reliable mix breed being up.
"Oh good, you're up! If I put Eden in her high chair can you watch her for me?" Georgie asks and Mira sighs, but nods apparently the white and brown dog was now a babysitter as well. Georgie just smiles patting Mira's head gently. Mira wags her tail slowly relinquishing the feeling of her owner's hand. She missed having most of Georgie's attention. She was the baby after all even though Pumpkin always needed more attention. Now they both ended up just following behind their owner loyally as she tries to help these people that they knew Georgie thought of as family.
Mira was still getting used to this change, especially that child that was now sitting in the highchair. Babies were loud and fussy, something Mira did not like very much. Eden in particular liked to pull on Mira's long fur which Mira didn't like either, but she would have to get used to it eventually.
………
There was a knock at the door an hour later and Mira instantly growled. Everyone was up now (excluding Pumpkin who was always the late riser,) and enjoying their breakfast. So when Mira heard the unmistakable footsteps of Angelina she of course didn't want her to be around since she always ruined the mood, and Mira could not shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen when Angelina was around.
Georgie still opened the door though. But when she saw who it was Mira could see her visibly tense and quickly jaunts over to her owner's side offering Angelina a snarl. She may be small, but if Angelina dared try something Mira would easily attack and the woman seems to sense this. Mira wanted her to leave, but before she let out a full growl Georgie shushed her. "Mira be nice," she warns and Mira sighs before she stops growling but she still snarls at Angelina when her owner isn't looking.
She then quickly runs back to the bedroom nudging Pumpkin awake. She wanted backup just in case Angelina decided to try something. "Mira what do you want it not even ten yet," Pumpkin mumbles sleepily and Mjra rolls her eyes fondly at her older sister.
"Angelina is here," Mira barks lowly a growl rippling through her throat. Pumpkin was immediately wide awake at hearing that and jumped off the bed to head to the kitchen with Mira where Olive was helping Eden eat her breakfast.
……..
"Good morning Angelina, what do you need?" Georgie asks nervously, seeing the sullen look on Angelina's features. She had heard about yesterday from Grace and she felt bad for the girl even though she still felt as if something were off.
"Um, I tried the Stone's house, but no one answered. Can I stay with you today please? I don't want to be alone." Angelina says quietly and Georgie sighs she wanted to help Angelina but at the same time she felt a surge of protectiveness over both Olive and Eden she also knew how much her pups hated Angelina
"Hold on just a second," Georgie says, going to talk with Olive and then call Michaela about Ben.
………
"So what are we working on today?" Drea asks Michaela readily as she sits at her desk looking through some files. After what went down yesterday it left them with tons of paperwork and both women hoped desperately for a case. That's when Georgie sent a text to their group chat.
"Hey girls, I don't want to panic either of you, but Ben is missing. I have Eden. She's fine, but with her was a note written by Eagen. He's got him." The text read, causing Michaela to get up and pace.
"Ugh great Eagen is as sly as a fox, how are we ever going to find him," Michaela asks, hoping the callings would give her the answer, but it didn't at least not to her. Drea on the other hand heard something.
A whisper almost too quiet to hear if it weren't for Drea's great hearing saying to her, "Nala and Drea nod she wasn't going to question it. Nala could help them with this if Drea's training taught her anything.
Nala was a one year old Brittany dog, Drea saved from an abusive k9 police trainer and now Drea was hanging out with the puppy she had an undeniable connection with. "I think I have an idea, come on." Drea told Michaela who looks at her in confusion, but she quickly follows Drea's long strides. Michaela gave her a look with even more confusion when Drea went down to the place they kept the police dogs.
"Drea what are we doing," Michaela asks curiously as Drea weaves through most of the cages until she settles on one with a white dog with bronze spots in it. The dog looked happy to see Drea, but growled at her seemingly trying to decide whether to be scared or happy.
"Nala at ease, she's my friend I talk to you about all the time," Drea hushes the dog who sits obediently but still glares at Michaela. "Michaela this is Nala she's one of the dogs I helped save while you were on your honeymoon. Nala, this is Michaela, my partner and we need your help tracking down her brother. Do you think you'd be up for the job?" Drea asks the dog who barks excitedly and Drea laughs, "Alright then come on let's get going.".
……….
"Miss Georgie, do we have to be nice to Angelina?" Olive asks very childishly, reminding Georgie of Olive being thirteen which causes her to chuckle. Olive had matured so much, but she was still that thirteen year old she used to babysit.
"Trust me, I'm not happy about it either, but she just lost her boyfriend. Let's try to have some sympathy alright,'' Georgie asks Olive, who signs in defeat. She knew Georgie was right; she just hated being near that woman. It made her nervous. "Hey Ol, don't worry I promise I won't let her hurt you or Eden, you trust me right?" Georgie questions and Olive nods.
"Of course I do, plus I think Pumpkin and Mira will maul her before she gets close to any of us." Olive says before Mira runs over barking in alarm. Angelina had set a photo on fire which caused the sensible pup alarm. She quickly pulls at Georgie hem and Georgie ran over to the kitchen. Olive quickly followed behind. They both offer Angelina some pancakes while the two dogs kept keen watch on Eden.
……..
Nala could easily scent, she was scent trained after all. She was surprised though when her halftime trainer wanted her help finding someone though. Of course she was thrilled she loved Drea dearly and would do anything for the detective. She was hoping desperately that the woman would adopt her, but why would she? She was snapped out of her thoughts though when she led the two women to town houses Nala growled slightly at the scent of some bad dogs nearby before sniffing the road again. "He's this way," Nala says, tugging her leash gently leading Drea as she was taught before hearing a click of her leash being taken off.
"Alright girl, let's see if that training we've been doing has paid off," Drea says, petting the pup's head as her friend watches curiously from behind. "Find the house girl," Drea commanded softly and Nala instantly ran off Drea slowly following behind but keeping an eye on where the police dog was going.
The brittany soon stops at one of the houses barking furiously. Drea smiles and looks at Michaela who nods before kicking the door in allowing Nala to search the house and she barks at the basement door. Micharla once again kicks the door in to see Eagen talking to her older brother
Nala watched as they handcuffed Eagen and growled that she had a feeling this guy was going to cause a lot of problems for them. "Good girl Nala," Drea whispers to her, patting her head softly. "I think we'll need you in the future, you're so amazing, but I have to ask you something first, are you willing to risk everything for me and my friends?" Drea questions and Nala instantly nods.
"I would do anything for you, owner." Nala barks in reply, nuzzling Drea softly.
……
Michi sighs finishing off her shift when she notices a crowd in one of the waiting rooms with multiple injuries. They all notice her before flocking around her. "What in the world," Michi says before sighing, "What in the world," she repeated she had not prepared for this at all.
