Supernatural Abilities
"Okay Mich this is fine, there has to be a reasonable explanation for this. Who am I kidding? I am literally a human Xray machine!" Michi exclaims pacing the cafeteria in three easy strides. It hadn't stopped, what Michi thought of as a hallucination was real. It was actually real that she could easily see through things and could also sense heat as well. It was so weird. She was too in her thoughts to realize when she bumps into another doctor. "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I wasn't looking where I was going and…" Michi rambles before she feels two hands slip into her own.
"Dr. Mikami breathe, it's quite alright." A gentle voice slightly familiar to the young woman says, causing Michi to finally look up, meeting Saanvi's eyes. She backed away a bit and looked down in embarrassment. She was the youngest surgeon at her hospital. Half the time other doctors didn't think she belonged so she tried not to let others see her when her anxiety spiked because if they saw her like this they would start to make their opinions known again.
"I believe I told you to just call me Michi,'' she says and the young researcher just nods, looking at Michi in concern. Her surgeon friend was usually so put together. What had gotten the young surgeon so riled up?
"Okay, Michi are you okay I've never seen you this riled up before." Saanvi says and a look of distrust crosses Michi eyes causing Saanvi to sigh. "I'm a passenger of flight 828 I'll believe anything you say. You can trust me Mich." Saanvi says and after a moment of hesitation Michi relents.
"I hear voices, at first I just thought it was a hallucination because I had worked sixty hours, but it is still harassing me. I don't know what it wants from me, and I think I'm finally going crazy." Michi says quickly and Saanvi stood frozen her mouth in a gape.
"You… you had a calling?" Saanvi asks in shock and Michi just looks at her friend in confusion. What the heck was a calling?
"A calling? " Michi asks slowly, eying Saanvi and Saanvi nods realizing Michi had no idea what she was talking about since she was not a passenger, and now the woman was giving a curious yet disbelieving look.
"I have a lot to explain how long is your lunch break?" Saanvi asked and Michi nods before looking at her watch which Saanvi notes looks oddly familiar.
"About a half hour give or take." Michi says and Saanvi grabs her hand pulling her1towards the elevator. She may be working for Eureka but she wanted to help her friend. Little did she know that Michi would be returning the favor very soon. She quickly finds an empty janitor's closet and shuts the store. "Saanvi what the…" Michi starts before Saanvi shushes her.
"How much do you know about the passengers and 828." Saanvi asks slowly and Michi shrugs a bit. She knew enough to know they were risk takers and that they had something supernatural going on she still had the peacock feather at her home as decor from when the one college kid disappeared.
"I know that there's something supernatural going on. How else would Michaela Stone be able to solve those cases with no tips or leads whatsoever. There's also the fact that they're always in the wrong place at the wrong time and get injured so very often. Otherwise not much. I don't believe anything the news says about y'all" says Michi and Saanvi nods this young woman caught on quickly for not having relation with 828.
"You sure do catch on quick. We do have some supernatural force helping us out. We see things, we have visions, and we hear things. We call them callings, and now you're having them too. Which is really weird since you aren't one of the returned or in any relation to someone who has been." Saanvi explains.
"How, why me out of all people?" Michi asks in utter shock as she sits down cross legged. Saanvi noticed immediately that Michi's eyes spark pink, and Michi groans in annoyance. "Dang it." Michi curses as she looks around she hates how trippy it was.
"Michi what's going on?" Saanvi asks and Michi immediately regrets looking her way.
"I might have forgotten to mention I have Xray vision and I can't control it whatsoever." Michi says and Saanvi looks at her friend in shock after a moment though Michi's eyes went back to normal. "Thank gosh." She says and Saanvi nods.
"I think I know why this is happening to you. Not many people will help the passengers because we're different. Since you are whatever supernatural force must have given you callings and X Ray vision to make your job easier." Saanvi says and Michi scoff, both of the things were making things harder not easier.
"It sure doesn't feel like it. I already spend barely any time at home and I have no idea how to control this stuff." Michi says and as if to prove her point her eyes flashed pink again before going to their normal brown color.
"Doctor Mikami, we need your assistance right away." Her walkie went off and the twenty three year old sighed, getting off the floor and glancing at Saanvi quietly. She had a feeling it was going to be a long rest of the day.
"Well duty calls I'll see you later Saanvi." The young surgeon says rushing off and Saanvi just nods watching her go. This surgeon didn't know it yet but she was going to save countless lives of passengers.
………
"We have no idea where the shrapnel is, we have to give her an X Ray." Michi's assistant nurse told the young surgeon who shook her head. This woman was pregnant. She didn't want even the smallest chance of harming the baby if she could help it.
"Will you just shut up for a second!" Michi asks authority in her voice, causing the nurse to close her mouth. She knew who this lady was when she saw her on the news. She was another passenger. "Alright calling help me out here." She thought to herself and within a moment she was able to see the bones and smiles. We need to prep her for surgery immediately, a piece of shrapnel hit her lungs." Michi says and her team immediately nods they learned not to question the young surgeon at this point.
Michi gets to work maybe this ability wasn't so bad after all.
…………
A woman sits staring through a window at the dismal streets below her apartment hundreds of miles away. She feels the faint heat on her shoulder, the tell tale sign of trouble but ignores it turning on the TV. She had finally found where she belonged. She wasn't going to let some supernatural thing control her life, not when it had ruined her so many times before.
She turned on the TV sitting right beside her small dog. The first thing on the news was, "The cursed continue to kill others when will they be stopped? The woman rolls her eyes which flash a bright yellow.
If this was the problem she was supposed to help with. Count her out, she has a life here, she has a family here, one that actually cares. She wasn't going to help a bunch of ungrateful people who would just turn on her because she was different just like these cursed people of New York. She learned her lesson, and she was never ever going to show the other side of herself again. It was too risky. She did wish those poor humans luck though.
Because she knew exactly how it felt to be supernatural.
