The Hardest Part Of The Job prt 4
Hey everyone here's another part of this story I really hope you enjoy if you do vote and comment 💖
It was quiet where Olive and Georgie were sitting. Both were just enjoying the peace and quiet before Olive started talking again, "What about you?" Olive asks quietly, making Georgie look at her in confusion. "What do you mean?" She asks as she had no idea what Olive was talking about. "When we were talking earlier you said I'm sure you guys will figure it out, not we." Olive says as Georgie groans of course Olive would notice it. "So what did you mean by it?" Olive asks, giving Georgie a look of confusion. "Your father is right Olive I have been of no help to you. And got you guys in more trouble. I think I need to leave the mystery hunting to you and your family. I can barely do my two other jobs right." Georgie says looking at Pumpkin. "What, Miss Georgie, we need your help! Those past incidents weren't your fault. We were just too slow you have always tried, and that is what counts." Olive says as she couldn't believe. Georgie was thinking about quitting just because of what her dad had said.
But she also remembered that Georgie had been going through a lot lately herself as her work schedule was crazy. She always had to be careful and untrustful around strangers, and the Xer's and everyone who survived different things harassed her. She had to deal with crazy Angelina, and countless others. She spent most of her spare time cooped up in a library or at home. Trying to figure out how everything worked, and what allegory this was based on, and also spent countless nights awake trying to help them. Olive knew that Grace and Georgie had been very good friends, and she knew Georgie must be missing her too.
Even though she was pretty good at keeping her feelings under wraps. And dad telling her what she already doubted herself in was true. Was making her lose hope. "Miss Georgie please we need your help, you're so smart with this stuff, and the only one that can really calm dad down. Or beat him in a fight about the right thing to do. Not even Aunt Michalea can do it, and she's his sister." Olive says as Georgie groans, "Olive I'm already in enough trouble as is. Plus who knows if I'm right. I'm not a history freak, I only know myths and I don't know anything about all this." Georgie admitted to Olive as that had been what she had been thinking when she accidentally got herself into all this as it was true. She just came here to be a makeup artist and a therapy dog handler not this.
But you take it in stride. Georgie I know you didn't ask for all of this. But we need you, you're the only one who actually believes and trusts us. You're always willing to help us. We're all wrong sometimes, especially with this. Especially now that mom's gone, you're the only one that us 828ers can trust. Please Georgie we all need you." Olive says as Georgie just sighs, and nods, "Alright fine I am not one to give up on a challenge. Although this is the hardest challenge I have had so far." Georgie says, making Olive smile, "Thank you." Olive says with a smile hugging Georgie who hugged back. "You're welcome." Georgie says before hearing her phone ring. "Oh I've got to take this." Georgie says as Olive nods before taking a few steps away.
"Hey, bestie, guess who." Lily says excitedly as Georgie sighs, "I'm really not in the mood Lily." Georgie says as Lily stopped talking and Georgie could pretty much feel her confusion. "Okay anyways, guess who just got in as a Broadway actress!" Lily says excitedly, making Georgie smile, "Lily, that's great, do you have any idea where you are going to stay?" Georgie asks as Lily sighs, "That's why I was calling. Could I stay with you for a while until I find a house?" Lily asks as Georgie instantly shakes her head even though Lily couldn't see it. "Lily, no you definitely can not stay with me." Georgie says as she doesn't want to put her friend in the danger Georgie was now living in. "Um, why not?" Lily asks, still very confused as Georgie never ever acted like this. At least not while she knew her, which had been since they were six. "Lily, listen , I've gotten myself into some very dangerous things. I don't want you to get involved in it."
Georgie explained, "Georgie, how bad can it be? I mean we're talking about you. Who never gets in trouble." Lily says as Georgie sighs she could argue with Lily all day since they were both so stubborn, but she honestly didn't feel like doing that because she hadn't had a goodnight sleep in who knows how long, and there was just a lot going on in general. "Alright fine you can stay with me, but you'll see what I mean when you get to my house." Georgie saysbas Lily nods, "Okay, but I'm sure it's not as bad as you make it sound Lily says, "Trust me it is." Georgie replies back before hanging up. And going back to Olive, "We should definitely start heading back." Georgie says as Olive nods, "Okay, but can we stop by the Library for a few minutes? I need to drop off a book." Olive says as Georgie nods, "Yeah sure I mean it's on our way back". Georgie told Olive as she starts heading to the car.
……….
Half an hour later the two returned to Georgie's house seeing that Georgie's friend had just arrived as well. Both groups noticed the two broken windows. "Great who the heck did it this time." Georgie asks with a groan as this was the sixth time this happened. "Snap, Georgie, what happened to your windows." Lily asks as Georgie sighs, "It was probably the Xer's again." Georgie says as Lily looked at Georgie in confusion. "What's an Xer?" Lily asks as Georgie sighs,"It's a long story, but let's just say they don't care about my home insurance." Georgie says as Lily looks at her. "What do you mean by that? "This is the seventh time within four months that this has happened." Olive says walking up, I'm Olive I live next door, well technically I live with Georgie, but my family's next door." Olive says as Lily nods, "What seven times. Georgie, what did you do to the Xer's to make them so mad?" Lily asks as she walks into the house.
Almost ignoring Olive's introduction as she couldn't believe that this had happened so many times, "And why is a teen living with you?" Lily asks as she points to Olive." Georgie just groans not feeling like answering those questions at the moment. "All of those are long stories." Georgie told Lily as Lily nodded knowing Georgie would tell her later. Georgie then went inside her room, "Brook who the heck broke the windows?" Georgie asks the dog. "The crazy man next door." Brook told the humans as Olive just facepalms. "Great, thanks a lot dad, Georgie I promise we'll help pay for repairs. I'm so sorry." Olive says as Georgie sighs, "It's fine he's going through a lot. It's not like I'm not used to it by now." Georgie says as Olive nods, "Well we'll still help you pay " Olive insists as Georgie nods, "Thanks." She said before Olive notices the book on her bed, "Hey what is this?" Olive asks in confusion...
