Some Is Better Than Nothing
Drea is used to not eating a lot. She also use to a case popping up out of nowhere whenever she tried to enjoy a meal same with Georgie. When Grace and Michaela hear this they are shocked
So I was watching manifest and some clips of Drea from ot and realized almost every time Mick calls for her help she either shoves some food in her mouth or is trying to eat. So this is where this idea came from
"Mikami we've got a case." A voice sounded before she could even take a bite of her lunch. The brunette detective groans and her stomachs growl since she hadn't eaten yet that day or the night before, in fact she didn't remember the last time she ate a proper meal.
"What do we have Mick?" She asks, ignoring her hunger, quickly eating the donut she had so she had something to run on.
"Ben is missing. I need your help, please . Grace would do it but she just lost Tarik. I really don't want to tell her that her husband is missing." Michaela says and Drea nods. "Grace is coming home this evening so we have to hurry." Michaela says and Drea could sense her distress so she grabs her pack and gun.
"Let's not waste any time then. You have any idea who would want to take him or where he would go." Drea asks and Michaela pauses to think before a name escapes her lips with so much venom that Drea knew this person had to be a nightmare.
"Eagen he has to have Ben, but he's been off the grid for months Michaela says and Drea recognizes the name the second time Michaela says a second time.
"Wait that crazy Vasquez let out of prison without paying anything he was nutty." Drea says and Michaela nods.
"I know! Come on Drea let's go to the house and look at Ben's board it may give us an idea of where Eagen is." Michaela says basically dragging Drea with her as they head to Mick's blue car. Drea instantly knew this was off the books and she was fine with that. She just really hoped this case was open and shut so she could get dinner at a reasonable time.
Hours and hours pass until they found Ben and Drea was exhausted. Both woman were tired of the fight they had put on. Michaela had graciously offered Drea a place to stay for the night and she accepted thankfully
She didn't get to eat that night…
………
Drea was not used to eating much now that she was working side by side with Georgie without a paying job for either of them and tons of work to do. Eden was their first priority; she always had something to eat and thankfully so did Georgie and Drea when they had the time.
Drea knew she needed to eat. She had been on a grueling mission that lasted a week where she only ate a bit of food each day, but they were running low on food for the month and Eden needed it more than she. She just grabs an apple hoping that would be enough to sustain her for the night.
Maybe one day she could actually get to eat until she was full, but for now her aim was to just survive. And to help her friends of course. But at this point in her life mostly survive.
…….
It was a girl's day after the curse was broken, and it was after one of their longest cases as the Gem Keeper and Drea was not very hungry at all she was so used to only having enough to eat when needed and she and Georgie had less of an appetite than they once had before the curse.
Grace seems to take easy stock of that even months after the curse. "Aren't you guys hungry. You have barely touched your food." Grace says in concern and Georgie and Drea just nod.
"We're full Grace we're actually more than full right D?" Georgie asks Drea who nods in absolute agreement she was content right now more than she has been in years.
"But we barely ate on our mission. How are you not hungry?" Michaela asks and both Georgie and Drea sighed they hadn't had to admit this to anyone here as they usually ate at home and could eat the portions they needed to.
"During the time while you were dead and you were gone we had a really rough patch. Jared got me fired and Georgie didn't have a job. We didn't have time to find new ones even if we did no one would've hired us. So we ate a lot less, providing for Eden was our first priority" Drea started qu9 she didn't dare look at her two friends instead she looked to Georgie who easily continued for her.
"We ate enough to survive and give us enough energy to face a crazy day, but that still wasn't much, usually just a fruit and veggie. Maybe if we were very hungry we would eat some leftovers of what we gave Eden the day before. So our bodies adapted to the way we had to live. Now we don't eat a lot or very often due to it, and we are getting back to normal, but its taking longer than we thought. I mean it's been like two, probably almost three years now since we could eat whatever we wanted when we wanted '' Georgie says looking at Drea who shrugs.
"Even longer for me. Whenever I tried to eat at the precinct a case would come that was really important." Drea mutters.
Michaela and Grace sharing a glance and sigh once again hearing what these girls did for their family at their own expense made their hearts both swell and ache at the same time.
They had all survived the curse, and while everything was finally settling there was still some longer term aspects, but they could get through it as a family. One big family that didn't relate in blood, but in heart.
After that day Grace made sure they always had three meals a day which was annoying at times for the three younger women especially when they were mid case, but they were never hungry, and Drea and Georgie were thankful for that.
