A Little Too Risky
After Drea does something totally dangerous and injured herself... again she and Georgie have a heart to heart and true feelings are revealed. Takes place after We Can Do This Together, but what before the halloween one Eden woul be three in this I think
Drea was here solely for protection detail nothing else. Drea was used to getting these kinds of jobs. She was single,to the department, she didn't have any family and she never tried to form any bonds with her teammates. She was willing to risk her life for other people not to mention she was the top of her class at the police academy. She was use to sewing herself up and being in danger.
That's why she was teamed with Michaela in the first place because Michaela was always known for getting into danger. So they needed someone just as tough and crazy as her and it worked out. Now she was in charge of keeping Georgie and Eden safe. Due to Michaela's request never in her life did she think that would mean basically living with the two. She didn't and wouldn't say it, but she thought of them as her family, but having family was dangerous
………
The targeters were tracking them, scratch that they were tailing them right now. Drea tried to lose them by taking a sharp turn, but instead the targeter came faster Drea knew what was coming and Drea knew what she had to do to keep Georgie safe even if it meant sacrificing herself. Georgie had to take care of Eden and she had to figure out this mystery. Her job was to protect her. Drea turned the car in a position where neither would get hurt to badly, but it would still give her most of the impact.
Sure enough the car hit them and their cars rolled down a grassy bank. Before Drea felt the impact of the tree on her side and winced everything hurt and the airbag was affecting her breathing a bit. "Drea are you out of your mind, why did you do that again!" Georgie calls out moving the airbag out of her face.
"Are you injured?" Drea asks as Georgie shook her head watching the slightly older woman, and then to the dog in the back of the car who seemed fine.
"No…" Georgie starts as Drea nods, looking at Nala who limps over to Drea who moves her one arm carefully to assess the damage the puppy had. "But how about you, are you hurt? You took most of the impact" Georgie asks Drea worriedly dislodging Drea's seatbelts for her. Georgie knew that Drea wasn't, her breaths came out more as gasps and she was bleeding from all the glass that had lodged into her skin when it broke.
"I'm fine, and exactly my job is to protect you and Eden with my life, that's what I plan to do." Drea says dead seriously and slowly climbs out of the car despite her body's reluctance. As soon as she managed to get out she collapsed to the mossy ground.
"You're not fine Drea! Do you have a death wish or something?" Georgie asks raising her voice not in anger, but in fear. As Drea looked like she was in quite a bit of pain and Georgie couldn't bring her to a hospital because they couldn't trust anyone.
"No, I don't, calling how are we going to get back home the car wrecked again." Drea asks the force of nature that just brightly glee and place the car where it should be. "Thanks calling, now, let's go G." Drea says
……….
After patching each other up Georgie and Drea sat in silence on Georgie's tan bed. "D, why are you always putting your life at risk we're a team now, we're supposed to split the work evenly. This is the second time you got severely injured due to you taking most of the impact." Georgie says as Drea just sighs.
"Better me than you," she says quietly. It was true Georgie had Eden and Olive to take care of. Drea was merely here because Mic had asked her to be. She wasn't asked to take care of the child and she had nothing to do with the 828ers other then being Michaela's partner.
Georgie just looks at Drea shock. "What do you mean! Drea why would you say that?" Georgie asks quietly this was her teammate why did she think that she should die instead of others. Drea just avoided her gaze looking at the beige comforter.
"I'm single and my family doesn't care about me. I don't even have an animal that needs me, not to mention I'm the top of my class. I usually get missions that are dangerous and risky for the people who have something, can go home to it. I would rather be the one killed. I don't have much to live for compared to someone who has a family" Drea explains quickly, pretty much feeling Georgie gaze on her.
Georgie couldn't believe Drea's admittance. "Wait, do you really believe that, and you lived alone before moving here, what happened when you got injured?" Georgie asks as Drea sighs.
"I avoided the hospital at all costs and would take care of myself. It was just my way of life." Drea admits not even answering the first question as she truly did believe that she had lost so much she would rather die than any of her friends dying.
"Oh Drea… you really do believe that. Drea you have just as much to live for especially now. I need you, Eden needs you and Nala just adores you. I don't know anything about kids. Gosh knows I couldn't raise Eden without you, and Eden has already lost so much and she is only four. Nala is basically yours. The passengers need our help. Only together can we figure this out." Georgie rambles Drea just let a smile creep on her face.
"I get it calm down Ao kakesu. I just forget that I have people who actually need me now it's kind of hard when you had the job of protection detail all the time." Drea says as Georgie nods in understanding she did understand slightly what Drea was talking about. This situation was new and very different for her too.
"I know it has been a learning curve for all of us, but I do care. Who else would call the window repair man." Georgie jokes as Drea smiles happily.
"Oh Ao kakesu Drea says with and eye roll and a laugh. Georgie just looks at Drea in confusion Drea used that as a nickname for her, but she had no idea what it meant.
"What does Ao kakesu mean?" Georgie questions as Drea smirks.
"Wouldn't you like to know." Drea says playfully. "It's your nickname just like Eden's is little Mesu and Nala's is my little Haīroguma." Drea says rubbing Nala's belly Georgie just groans.
"Your never going to tell me what it means will you Georgie questions as Drea shook her head no.
"Nope." Drea says simply Georgie just huffs flicking Drea's arm where she knew it didn't hurt
"Your a mess." Georgie says fondly as Drea glares at her in fake offense before laughing and looks at Nala again.
"So are you!'"
