CHAPTER 20
Great Hall – Darkness Unleashed
The entire Great Hall fell into a suffocating silence as Lyra stood in the entrance, the hooded figure at her side. Her twisted smile sent chills down Emma's spine. The once lively atmosphere of Hogwarts now felt like a prison, walls closing in as the reality of the situation crashed down around her.
Emma felt her pulse quicken. She glanced at Jungkook, who had gone rigid, his eyes locked on the scene. Jimin still hadn't arrived, and a creeping sense of dread filled her chest as she realized that whatever Lyra was about to reveal was tied directly to her bond with him.
The hooded figure stepped forward, their voice like gravel scraping against stone.
Hooded Figure (cold, sinister):
"Emma Turner. You have something of great importance... a destiny far darker than you realize."
Emma stood up, her heart pounding in her ears.
"What are you talking about? What do you want?"
Lyra's eyes gleamed with malice, her voice dripping with mockery.
"Oh, Emma... you really don't know, do you? The bond with Jimin... it wasn't fate. It was orchestrated. Manipulated from the start."
The words hit Emma like a physical blow. She felt the room tilt, everything she thought she knew slipping through her fingers.
"Orchestrated...? By who?"
The hooded figure's cold laughter echoed through the Great Hall.
"By us. The bond was never meant to be a simple connection of souls. It was designed to bind you to something far darker, to awaken powers you've only begun to feel."
Emma's breath came in shallow gasps. Her mind raced back to every strange feeling, every twisted pull of the bond she had shared with Jimin. She had known something was off, but this—this was a nightmare.
Jungkook (shouting, stepping forward):
"Leave her alone! Whatever you're doing, stop!"
Lyra laughed softly, the sound more chilling than the darkness surrounding her.
"You think you can stop what's already begun, Jungkook? The bond between Emma and Jimin is the key to everything. But it's not love. It's a weapon."
Emma's body stiffened. She could feel the dark power inside her stirring, a dangerous energy rising that she had no control over. It pulsed like a living entity, feeding off the bond she shared with Jimin—something sinister, twisted.
Suddenly, the doors to the Great Hall burst open, and Jimin stormed in, his eyes dark with fury. He looked at Emma, then at the hooded figure, his jaw clenched.
Jimin (dangerously low):
"Get away from her."
The hooded figure smiled, a malicious glint in their eye.
"Ah, Jimin. Always the protector. But you can't shield her from this. The bond has already tied you both to the darkness. You're just as much a part of this as she is."
Jimin moved to Emma's side, his hand brushing hers, sending a shock of electricity through their bond. But this time, it wasn't the warm, comforting connection she had felt before. This time, it was sharp, painful—like a thousand thorns wrapping around her heart.
Emma (voice shaking):
"Jimin... what are they talking about? Is it true? Did you know?"
Jimin's face twisted with guilt, his eyes filled with something far deeper than sadness—regret, fear, and a deep, agonizing conflict.
Jimin (hoarse whisper):
"I didn't know it would be like this, Emma. I swear I didn't. I thought I could protect you... but the bond... it's—"
Before he could finish, the hooded figure waved their hand, and the entire hall erupted into chaos. The ground beneath their feet rumbled, dark energy seeping through the stone floors like poisonous vines.
Emma screamed as she felt the bond inside her snap, the dark power surging through her veins. It was overwhelming, suffocating, filling every corner of her being with a force she couldn't control.
Lyra (gleeful):
"Yes! Let it consume you, Emma. This is your destiny!"
Jungkook rushed to her side, grabbing her arm.
"Emma! You have to fight it!"
But the darkness was too strong. Emma's vision blurred, the sounds of the world around her fading into nothingness. The bond had twisted into something grotesque, something far beyond magic. It was feeding off her fear, her confusion, and her pain.
Suddenly, a flash of memory struck her—Lyra, speaking with the hooded figure late at night. Their hushed conversation, the cryptic words she had overheard but never understood.
Lyra (in the memory):
"Once the bond is complete, Emma will be ours. She'll have no choice but to succumb to the power we've been cultivating in her for years."
Emma staggered back, the truth hitting her like a tidal wave. The bond with Jimin hadn't been an accident. It was never about love or destiny. It had been a trap—one they had set for her long before she even knew Jimin existed.
Emma (gasping):
"You... you used me."
Jimin's face fell, guilt and agony etched into every line of his expression.
"I never meant for it to happen like this. I thought we could break it. I thought I could save you."
Emma's chest heaved, the dark energy swirling inside her like a storm. She felt sick, betrayed—not just by Jimin, but by everything she had believed in.
Hooded Figure (voice like venom):
"Now, Emma. It's time to make a choice. Embrace the darkness, or watch everything you care about fall apart."
The dark magic pulsed inside her, the temptation to give in growing stronger with every passing second. But through the haze of power and fear, she heard a voice—a familiar, warm voice, one she hadn't expected to hear again.
Voice (soft, yet firm):
"Emma. You're stronger than this."
She looked up, her vision clearing just enough to see Jungkook standing beside her, his eyes full of determination. He hadn't given up on her. Even after everything, he was still there—fighting for her.
Jungkook (voice steady):
"Don't let them control you. You're not just the bond, Emma. You're so much more than that."
Tears pricked at her eyes. She could feel the darkness tightening around her heart, but Jungkook's words cut through the fog, reminding her of who she really was. She wasn't just a pawn in their game. She had a choice.
Emma (voice trembling, but resolute):
"No. I won't let you take me."
With a scream of defiance, Emma summoned every ounce of strength she had left and pushed back against the darkness. The bond twisted violently, the magic crackling in the air around them, but she fought it, refusing to let it consume her.
The hooded figure snarled, their eyes flashing with anger.
"Foolish girl. You cannot resist forever."
But Emma wasn't listening. She reached out, her hand finding Jimin's, and for a brief moment, the bond between them steadied, the darkness receding just enough for her to catch her breath.
Jimin (voice soft, full of guilt):
"I'm so sorry, Emma. I never wanted this for you."
But before Emma could respond, the hooded figure raised their hand, and a bolt of dark magic shot toward them. Jimin shoved Emma aside, taking the full brunt of the spell. He collapsed to the ground with a strangled cry, his body writhing in pain.
Emma (screaming):
"Jimin!"
She rushed to his side, but before she could reach him, the hooded figure vanished, taking Lyra with them. The room fell into silence, the air thick with the remnants of dark magic.
Emma knelt beside Jimin, her hands trembling as she tried to heal him, but the damage was deep. Too deep.
Jungkook (kneeling beside her, voice tight with emotion):
"We need to get him to the hospital wing. Now."
But Emma knew it wasn't just Jimin who was in danger. The darkness was still inside her, waiting for its moment to strike again.
And she had a sinking feeling that this was only the beginning of the nightmare. The main plot had been set in motion, and now, there was no turning back.
