CHAPTER 12
Scene: Potions Class - Brewing Amortentia
The tension in the classroom was palpable as Emma sat between Jungkook and Jimin. The two boys, both significant in her life in ways she didn't yet fully understand, couldn't have been more different. Jungkook, with his easygoing Gryffindor warmth, and Jimin, the mysterious and calculating Slytherin whose presence always left her both comforted and unsettled.
Professor Slughorn's booming voice cut through her thoughts as he introduced the day's potion.
Professor Slughorn:
"Today, we'll be brewing Amortentia, the most powerful love potion in existence! Let's see who among you has a sharp enough nose to detect the scents that reveal what you're most drawn to."
Emma shot a nervous glance at Jimin, who sat just across the aisle from her, his face a perfect mask of indifference. But she knew better. There was something in the way his fingers drummed lightly against the table—he was on edge, too.
On the other hand, Jungkook, sitting right beside her, was the picture of calm. He winked at her when he caught her looking, offering her one of his signature playful grins. But even that didn't completely ease the knots forming in her stomach.
Emma (to herself):
"Why did it have to be Amortentia?"
She watched as Professor Slughorn waved his wand, filling the classroom with the sweet, heady aroma of the love potion. The air grew thick with the mingling scents of everyone's deepest desires. Slowly, students started to take turns approaching the cauldron, inhaling the intoxicating potion.
Emma closed her eyes for a moment, letting the scents hit her. Fresh parchment, the scent of a burning fire, and then... something else. A soft, clean scent like rain-soaked grass. Her eyes fluttered open, darting toward Jungkook.
Could it be him? But no sooner had the thought crossed her mind than her gaze wandered to Jimin, whose own eyes seemed locked on her, as if waiting for something. There was something undeniably magnetic about him, something that tugged at her in ways she couldn't explain. Yet her heart was still confused, divided between the safety she felt with Jungkook and the pull she felt toward Jimin.
Scene: Potions End - Leaving the Classroom
As the lesson ended and the students began filing out of the dungeon, Emma's head swirled with conflicting emotions. Jungkook chatted away, trying to make plans for lunch, but her mind was elsewhere. Jimin, who had stayed quiet throughout class, now walked just behind them, his Slytherin badge glinting under the dim light of the dungeon.
Just as they were about to leave the room, Jimin's hand brushed hers ever so slightly, a light but deliberate touch. Emma felt a jolt, the spark between them undeniable, but Jungkook, oblivious, tugged her forward with a smile.
Jungkook:
"Come on, Emma! You're being way too quiet. You're not still thinking about the potion, are you?"
Emma blinked, trying to shake off the effect Jimin had left lingering on her skin.
Emma (forcing a smile):
"No, no. Just lost in thought."
Jungkook grinned, clearly unfazed.
Jungkook:
"Well, you better snap out of it, or I'll steal your pudding at lunch!"
He nudged her playfully, and she couldn't help but laugh. But when she glanced back, Jimin had already slipped into the shadows of the hall, his Slytherin green scarf trailing behind him.
Scene: Gryffindor Common Room - That Evening
Later that evening, Emma found herself sitting in the Gryffindor common room with Jungkook. They had just finished a long study session, and now the fire crackled warmly in front of them, casting a soft glow on their faces. Jungkook leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms above his head.
Jungkook:
"I think I've read enough about the Goblin Rebellions to last a lifetime."
Emma chuckled, but her mind was elsewhere. She couldn't shake the feeling she'd had earlier in Potions—how the bond with Jimin seemed to be pulling her in, even when she tried to focus on Jungkook.
Suddenly, the portrait hole swung open, and in walked Jimin, his sharp Slytherin robes a stark contrast to the warm, cozy atmosphere of the Gryffindor common room. He rarely ventured into their territory, but something in his eyes told Emma this wasn't a casual visit.
Jungkook sat up, his casual smile slipping slightly.
Jungkook:
"Jimin? Didn't expect to see you here."
Jimin's eyes flickered between them before settling on Emma.
Jimin:
"Emma, can I talk to you? Alone."
Emma's heart skipped a beat. She glanced at Jungkook, who was now watching the exchange with a wary expression.
Jungkook:
"Anything you need to say to her, you can say in front of me."
But Emma could sense the urgency in Jimin's voice. She stood up, placing a hand on Jungkook's arm to calm him.
Emma:
"It's okay, Jungkook. I'll be right back."
Reluctantly, Jungkook nodded, but the tension between the two boys was undeniable. Emma followed Jimin out of the common room, her heart racing as they made their way down the dimly lit corridors.
Scene: The Forbidden Forest - A Confession in the Moonlight
Emma found herself standing at the edge of the Forbidden Forest with Jimin, the moon casting a silver glow over the trees. The air between them was thick with unsaid words, the bond between them stronger than ever.
Emma (quietly):
"Why did you bring me here, Jimin?"
Jimin turned to face her, his expression serious, the usual playful glint in his eyes replaced with something deeper.
Jimin:
"Because I can't keep pretending everything's normal when it's not. The bond, Emma—it's pulling us together, but I know you're confused. And I know... you have feelings for Jungkook too."
Emma's breath caught in her throat. She didn't want to admit it, but he was right. She cared about Jungkook, but the connection she felt with Jimin was undeniable. It was more than just attraction—it was something deeper, something she couldn't control.
Emma:
"Jimin, I... I don't know what to do. This bond—it's overwhelming."
Jimin stepped closer, his hand gently brushing against her cheek as he looked into her eyes, his voice soft yet intense.
Jimin:
"I don't want to push you into anything. I just need you to know that I care about you, Emma. And this bond... it means something. But you have to decide what you want."
Emma's heart pounded as Jimin's thumb grazed her cheek. The forest around them seemed to fade, leaving only the two of them standing under the moonlight. For a moment, she thought he might kiss her. The tension between them was palpable, and she could feel the pull of the bond drawing her closer to him.
But then she remembered Jungkook—his smile, his warmth, and the easy friendship they shared. She stepped back, breaking the moment.
Emma (whispering):
"I need time, Jimin. I can't... I can't decide right now."
Jimin nodded, though she could see the flicker of disappointment in his eyes. He dropped his hand, stepping back as well.
Jimin:
"Take all the time you need. But just... be careful around Lyra. There's something wrong about her."
Emma's eyes widened. She had suspected something off about Lyra for a while now, but hearing Jimin say it only confirmed her fears.
Emma:
"What do you mean?"
Jimin's jaw clenched slightly.
Jimin:
"I overheard her talking to someone in the forest last night. Something about the bond----
The chill in the air seemed to grow colder at his words. Emma's mind raced as she tried to piece everything together.
Emma (whispering):
"I'll be careful. I promise."
Jimin's gaze softened again as he nodded.
Jimin:
"Good."
The silence stretched between them, thick with unresolved tension. Emma's feelings for Jimin were undeniable, but so was her connection to Jungkook. And now, with Lyra's mysterious involvement, everything felt even more complicated.
Emma (quietly):
"Let's get back to the castle."
Jimin nodded, but as they walked back under the cover of darkness, Emma couldn't help but feel that things were far from over. The bond between her and Jimin was growing stronger by the day, but with Lyra's dangerous secrets lurking in the shadows, Emma knew she had to stay on guard. Whatever happened next, her world was about to change forever.
