                      Chapter 6

         The quick walk in the back garden really did help Yohan to concentrate on his studies as he studied uninterrupted for four hours straight.

                     Then he decided to check his phone resting in his bed for a while and listened to one of his play lists before doing a timed paper that would take three hours in total before going to bed.

But a message he received from Adhithya, one of the twins from his school made Yohan text back and forth with the "lost soul" once again.

CONSIDER ME DEAD!
Like I'm so dead right now!

Accidentally deleted the note gallery from your phone?

Nah! You remember  my ex Dinara right?

Oh why? Did she ask anything about me? 😉😉😉

{ Dinara was Adhithya's girlfriend from the Ordinary Level times. And they broke up for reasons obvious to themselves. But she still had her friendship with both twins}

A nice joke! But listen, we're in big trouble. Remember the girl we made fun of?

"lost soul?"

"Yap. It's Dinara's friend Anuthi! '

" Who? ".

Yohan asked as the name did not ring a bell in his mind.

"Anuthi!. That girl from the O/L maths class that we coupled you with! Remember ?"

         Adhi' s  text solved the mystery that was pestering Yohan's mind. It was her!. Now he knew why she looked so familiar.
        

          Yohan quickly went back to his chat with Anuthi and clicked on her profile picture and there she was!. His crush from the O/L times. The calm quiet kid that stood in a clear contrast to her out going friends. There was something doclie and submissive about her nature that made Yohan fall for her.

        But, oh boy! Little did he knew!
   " Appearances are  indeed deceptive!"

Yohan never though what he learned from his O/L literature class would ever come in handy one day but there he was.

The girl really did make a storm in a teacup  with her over reactions  towards what he did. Yohan had no clue on what made her snap this way this time as he was trying to help her!.

    
How could someone so innocent looking be so furious and short tempered?

Yohan pondered.

"Anuthi!. That girl from the O/L Maths  class that we coupled you with! Remember ?"

"Yeah! Kind of"

Yohan replied Adhi eventhough it was as clear as a crystal to him of whom he was talking about.

"So what's the big deal about it?"

Yohan asked as he could not quite figure out why Adhi would make a huge fuss about the whole  situation.

"Well Abiman had put the post to his status.😅"

"And Dinara had seen it🤐😬. And you know, she is quite mad about it."

"Oh. 😕. Well that's bad."

Yohan texted as the gravity of the situation hit him for the first time.

                                                He could understand why Anuthi was so crossed and worried about the whole situation. Of course no one would ever want an insulting post about them being shared online!. And not to mention a post with their face in it!
                  Yohan wanted to apologise from her once more but the idea left his mind the second it entered as things would get awkward real soon as his apology would not solve the problem.
            

     Just then an idea clicked in  his mind. He could ask help from Adhithya. It is very unlikely that he would refuse to help anyway. He could reveal the truth to them.

The truth that Jihan being  so pissed about the entire incident. It would save his ass hopefully.

       Looking for a way to help his old crush Yohan was ready to let his guard down and speak against what his friends did.
                 He knew his friends better than the palm of his own hand. So he could see them making fun of him one day in the future for trying  this hard to guard his "O/L crush!"

If he could turn back the clock he would have  never  joined that conversation and would have enjoyed it from a far. And Jihan would have blamed Nethwan and the rest for what they did.

Should he be embarrassed for begging help from a friend to help out a girl?

Anuthi did not even seem to care about what was going on. So should he really be this concerned about her after all?

But what if she really has no idea of what's going on?

What would happen if this led to something far worse? Like what would happen if someone edited her picture in an obscene manner?

Wasn't that a crime?

Yohan had no idea what was going through his mind as overthinking was not a usual habit of his.

Unknowingly he was staring at her picture falling in to a whirlpool of thought that made him feel uneasy and uncomfortable.

            Back then he was sure that what he felt was nothing but a whim. He found her cute and he knew it was nothing but infatuation. It was his friends that made jokes about the too and hyped it.
                          But for him she was just a girl that he found some what interesting and he was certain that he would forget her eventually and his predictions were true.
           

Up to this very incident Anuthi never came to his mind. And even her profile picture was not the exact face that he remembered of the short girl in the middle of a friend group of girls that did not seem to match her at all.

               She looked like an introvert that is forced to hang around with a group of extroverts.

Yohan was shocked when someone knocked on his door quite loudly and he soon left WhatsApp because he did not wanna get caught daydreaming {even thought its night time} while looking at a girl's profile picture.

"Come in!". He said and in came his mother.

"Oh Amma."

Yohan's heartbeat was beating at a record breaking speed when his mother walked in to his room for obvious reasons.

To name a few, he had his phone in his hand and he was on his bed when what he was supposed to be doing was to have a book in his hand and studying.

"What are you doing?"

His mother walked in with a suspicious look on her face.

Yohan's mother was a jolly well person to be around. But not at times like this where she would find her son who was supposed to be studying for his finals with a phone on his bed!.

" Nothing Mom!. Just checking some messages from the groups"

Yohan lied in defense as he looked up from his phone.

He could just answer and wait for his mother's respond but to make sure what he said was a credible lie, Yohan clicked upon  WhatsApp and then on a WhatsApp group.

Speaking of strict parents raising the best liers Yohan was a true product of it!

"Let me see!".

His mother took the phone from him as she sat on his bed.

"Amma!"  Yohan said protesting and earned a "What?" from his mother.

"Any way!. We brought you fried rice for dinner. Leave the vegetarian one for Appachchie {dad} and choose one from the rest. I'll join you guys after taking a shower".

His mother added smiling as she stood up placing his phone on the desk near by .

"Ok-ay."

Said Yohan before running downstairs.

Hearing the name "fried rice" alone was something that brought a smile to Yohan's face.

It would not be wrong if someone called it "his weakness" .

And as Yohan was running downstairs leaving all his worries for his dinner. Anuthi was laying in her bed unable to process the new found information she received from Dinara that evening.

                      For her it was something heartbreaking Eventhough she knew that it shouldn't break her heart.
She felt like he should have cared. Eventhough she knew that Yohan was not entitled to feel that way about her.

It made made her hopeless and despondent Eventhough she knew that Yohan had no idea who she was or the way how she felt about him.
