CHAPTER EIGHT

"Man in the mirror"

Living there for 2 almost broke Roman. They barely cook, and when they do nothing goes together. They barely eat breakfast. And when they do, it's from some place like McDonald's or Jack In the Box. Virgil also seemed to fall into depression. Over the course of being there, he was forced to dye his hair back to brown, as the same with Roman. They may be 18 now, but they are still living under Debra's roof, and cannot have tattoos or any type of dyed hair.

But one day,

On the anniversary of Virgil running away and finding his dad, everyone was out at dinner at TGI Fridays. It was a sketchier one, though. One where it seemed like playboys met hookers and murders came to snort lines of cocaine off of toilet seats. As they went in and waited for their table to be ready, Virgil had headphones in and seemed way too comfortable being there. Roman on the other hand was jumpy and scared. Debra hated how her son was so sensitive. She has to change this.

When they sat at the table, there were carvings of things and it seemed a little dirty. Virgil immediately layed back and tried to fall asleep, as he was to what he was used to this life. Roman started to have an anxiety attack as soon as the table. Debra couldn't take it. Debra decided to take him to the unisex bathroom.

She screamed and yelled at him for a while as Roman cried even harder, his hands covering his face while he broke down. Debra had no time for this. "Come here baby, I'm sorry." She softly said and opened her arms. Ro moved the hands from in front of his face and let the snot and tears run down quick. Roman slowly walked over and let her hug him. She opened her eyes and one of them were the same honey yellow from four years ago. Roman started to shake, trying to scream but no sound came out. He screamed for help and tried to say it was hurting him, but the building just started to shake and it became more violently as he was changing.

As she let go he opened his eyes and displayed a bloody velvet eye color and blood running down his cheeks. They came from his eyes as all his tears became blood red. "Come here honey," Debra said while walking towards the mirrors. "Now, isn't that better? To look and live like mommy?" Debra asked. Ro stared at the villain in his reflection. "Yes ma'am." He replied and cleaned himself up.

As soon as the color in his eyes faded back to normal, he was hit by a strong force of air into the stall doors. Debra gasped, running after him. Ro was trying to gather his breath as he saw things he wished he hadn't. He started to cry -- but the tears were normal. He stood up once again and was calming down. "Let's go eat, yeah?" Debra suggested. Roman agreed as he watched a team of what seemed like teenaged girls run in with bags of cocaine and pot.

On the ride home, Virgil couldn't help but ask. "Mom, why did you take Roman into the bathroom?" He asked, knowing Debra couldn't lie to Virgil. Debra hesitated. "I had to calm him down. Reassure him of where he is and tell him everything will be alright." Debra still lied. Virgil felt a shock pierce through his heart. He flinched so hard that he moved his arm and accidentally hit Remus. Remus hit him back and they fought all the way back home.

Since Remus, Virgil and Roman share a room they all came back inside of there at the same time, not surprised how short the day seemed. As Remus snored in the bed next to Virgil, he turned on his side and made 'psst' sounds to Roman, as at way to get his attention. Roman turned to him because he wasn't asleep.

"Something doesn't feel right, Ro. We have to get back to Patton -- our missing person posters have been up for 2 years now and it still feels like we're brand new." Virgil said. Roman just listened to what he had to say. So many negative things went through his mind. So many thoughts of harming others. He didn't want to speak in fear of saying what came to his head. Virgil sighed. "Come on, Roman. I know you don't sleep with your eyes open." Virgil said. Just as he did, a cold, pitying tear raced down Roman's peach face.

"Roman oh my God - what happened?" He asked in a panic tone.

Roman only stared him then blinked, feeling his long wet lashes on his face. "Have you ever thought of killing your brother?" He asked -- Virgil's shocked face was hard to see as Roman closed his brown eyes. Virgil couldn't sleep that night beside Roman. He had to go out of the room and sleep on the couch that night.

The next morning was awkward. There was no reason for Virgil to distance himself as much as he did. "Mom, I need to go on a walk." Virgil told her after breakfast and started walking to the shared room. "Sounds lovely! Everyone get dressed-" Debra got cut off. "Alone, mom." Virgil didn't even glance back at Debra. She nodded and watched a Virgil soon came back down with ripped jeans and a black hoodie. His shoulder bag went around his body as well did a purple flannel around his face. The same black head phones from yesterday and he didn't even look back at his family. He left the honey lavender scented home just as his uber arrived. His uber driver drove them to Patton's and Logan's home. As he got out he quickly ran over to go knock on the door, knocking quick as he wanted to collapse in Patton's arms and hug him forever.

Patton opened the door, holding a coffee mug and shaking. "Virgil?!" He screamed and dropped it to hug Virge. Virgil started crying and hugged him tighter tighter than ever. The neighbor came out, looking at them in confusion of why they were being so loud. Patton, shaking, told him they should go inside.

As all of them sat on the couch, Logan looked like he hasn't gotten a hair cut in about 4 months. "Patton, I need to tell you what Roman said last night -" Virgil started, missing the way their white fluffy couches felt. As he soothed into the seat, Virgil took a deep breath.

And Virgil told them.

Patton just started to break down. He laughed through his hurt tears, knowing that his mom had something to do with this. He couldn't speak, but could hysterically laugh and tried his hardest to speak. "Virgil, get some clothes from upstairs, incase something happens."
Logan said lowly. Without a question, Virgil raced upstairs and packed two pairs of the clothes they bought him in a bag. Along with his make up and deodorant, and toothbrush. As he came back downstairs they were walking outside the door and were somehow already dressed. Virgil followed and got in the car with them, seeing as Patton's face was now pale and his act was fragile. His dulling eyes made Virgil feel so angry about how his mom is an asshole. Logan started driving and told Virgil to give directions on where to go.

They arrived at 9 in the afternoon, as they all knocked at the front door, Virgil was hiding behind them and Debra opened the door. She hissed at the sight of Logan and Patton. "Fucking faggot! Why are you here?" Debra screamed, in the middle of her screaming Virgil stepped between Logan and Patton with a fearless face. "Let us inside, Debra." Virgil crossed his arms and just looked at her with the same terrifying, intimidating glare she'd been giving him for 14 years before she physically beat him.

Debra's lip quivered. She just nodded and took a few steps back, "Remus, Roman, get dressed," she yelled and walked over to her stairs and went inside. Virgil walked inside with both Patton and Logan and sat on the brown leather couches. The twins came down quickly, both with chokers - Roman in leather pants and a tight shirt that has a crown dead in the center. But Remus as the gay fuck he is, wore short-shorts and fishnet underneath. Both of them wore combat boots, and Roman's eye color was no longer brown - it was the bloody velvet from last night. Patton was shaking in fear of what happened to his son. He looked closely and saw hand prints along his neck. Oh the fear that went through his body. Oh how the anger flooded through his body.

"Now listen, you're going to hate everything I'm about to say - but please, listen, I can explain why everything I did was for a reason." Debra quickly said while she came down stairs with four books in her arms, which quickly caught Logan's attention. "I can explain. I really can." Debra closed her eyes.
