...Prologue...
"You and I were made for each other."
___
The match ignited.
A slowly burning flame gradually enhanced upon the wood-wick candle in a room filling fragrance. Adrien smiled at the sight of his lovely wife as she slept soundly; her petite body splayed out across their bed in an aperitive manner.
She was beautiful.
Marinette's midnight hair fanned out against their cozy linen pillows as her thick lashes shut against youthful rosy cheeks. The lamp beside the bed favorably casted a warm light over her porcelain skin. The silk night dress that wrapped around her voluptuous frame was a tasteful shade of pastel pink. It perfectly suited the cherry blossoms that Adrien purchased earlier that day for his heavenly spouse.
Cherry blossoms were Marinette's favorite flower.
Adrien thought it much suited her.
The young woman's body welcomed his gentle touch as he tenderly shook her awake; she was immediately welcomed to a smell of sweet incense and the quiet rumbling of thunder.
"Wake up, my love. It's raining." Adrien whispered softly.
A small smile tugged at the corner of her pink lips as she was offered his hand. Marinette stared at the tall blond with a knowing look.
Her thin fingers slid into his palm before he guided her petite body along the pale oak-wood floors. Marinette's elegant night dress lightly twirled when he spun her- a giggle escaping her lips as she was brought against his chest. Adrien felt her glossy nails lightly clutch his flexed bicep when he dipped her back.
The tall blond paused for a moment to appreciate her beauty. His green eyes took note of the trail of freckles that spilled across her nose before sincerely gazing into her blue-bells.
A sea of cerulean was a gross understatement.
Then all the scenery around them seemed to dissolve.
Adrien drew her against his chest once more, his emerald eyes glistening when she revealed a beautiful smile. "Je t'aime, mon coeur."
The tone of his voice caused her heart to swell.
"Je t'aime aussi, chaton." The young woman spoke softly before burying her face into the crook of his shoulder; her feet placed over the leather on his shoes as he gently swayed back and forth. The tall blond could feel her lashes flutter against him when she closed her eyes.
Adrien breathed in her sweet aroma, enjoying the moment with his lovely wife as thunder struck once again. It almost reminded him of the moment he handed her that black umbrella; when the shade collapsed over her head and he broke out into laughter for the first time in a while.
That was when he knew she would be in his life forever.
At least; he hoped.
___
Marinette blew out the candlelight before crawling into bed and cuddling her beloved husband; his masculine scent penetrating her nose when she nuzzled against him.
"Goodnight, my love." She whispered against his skin.
His lithe fingers traced circles into the curve of her hip before placing his chin over her head.
"Sweet dreams, princess."
