Entry 47
⚠️SPOILERS FOR THE LATEST CHAPTERS OF I LOVE YOO ON WEBTOON⚠️
I think erbody agree that the Hirahara family are the biggest scumbags to ever exist and have brought nothing but misery to our boi Nol's life.
But we'll get to them later. Right I'm on Yui's narcissistic bastard son/Nol's asshole half brother Kousuke's ass because he really did it for me the last couple of chapter when I love yoo came back and the urge to just 🤜🏽 in the face has never been so prominent until now. Especially with how he gaslit Shinae and Nol.
Let's start with Shinae. So following back to when Shinae told him that she wanted to quit working for him because she didn't feel happy being in the company, I was triggered at how he completely brushed her off and went on rambling about how lucky she is to be working for him and how not everyone should be happy while working and that she shouldn't pass on the opportunity just because she's not happy working there?
He had some good points. Not everyone is happy with their jobs and careers and not everyone gets to pursue their dream jobs. Jayce is a perfect example for that. He wanted to open his own food truck but due to certain circumstances, he wasn't able to do that. And I get that Kou was trying to get Shinae to see a bigger picture and see the reality of life.
But that's not the issue here.
The issue here is the fact that Shinae doesn't feel safe being in that work environment especially when there's a potential predator like Sangchul and someone like his mother lurking around the place. And the fact that he didn't listen to her concerns or even put them into consideration was the part that threw off.
Well I guess the safety of his future secretary doesn't matter to him apparently 😐.
For the record, Shinae didn't decide to work for him just because of the opportunity. It was all for out of desperation for help her dad with finances. Now she's unable to quit because Yui is the main signatory for her contract and that heifer ain't gonna let her go anytime soon.
And yes, Shinae hasn't been the best at making the best decisions and it's on her that got herself into this mess to begin with. I will agree on that. But let's not forget the heifer who preyed on Shinae's desperation. And the Hirahara still needs to make up for the shit that happened to her at that party.
And if I'm going to be honest, I feel like Shinae might end up being Kousuke's trophy. I get that the etiquette classes are for her to learn to to behave within the workplace but I personally feel like it's all for kousuke to look good given how he was bragging about his position at the company in Tokyo and going on expensive trips and conferences blah blah blah. That's what I think.
And let's not forget that one chapter Kousuke was projecting Nol on to Shinae. RED FLAGS 🚩
Speaking of Nol: that's another issue on it's own. And we're gonna get into it.
Like I get it Kou. You were denied your childhood because yo mama kept you busy with extra curricular activities and had no time to have fun and hang out with friends and you were forced to grow up too fast. But even so you got everything you wanted.
And I get it. You admire your dad. You have such a HUGE respect for the old man and you want to be just like him and you want his approval. And all that came crushing down when you met Nol and discussed that he had an affair and you're failing to accept that daddy isn't as perfect as you thought and believed he was and you feel betrayed. You have every right to be angry and confused
I get that.
BUT HOME BOI YOU'RE DIRECTING YOUR ANGER AT THE WRONG PERSON.
The person who should be get the amount of hate and resentment Kousuke's giving Nol is Rand coz he's the one who had the affair and busted a nut when he wasn't supposed to. Nol had no control over the situation. He's just existing. But nooooooo: he's still in denial and still hold on to that image he has about his dad that he'd rather be a prick to Nol and mentally and abuse him for 13 YEARS.
Kousuke had the nerve of devaluing them meaning behind Nol's name: a name given to him by his mother, the one person who loved him genuinely.
Kousuke had the nerve to snitch to Yui after Nol told him that he had an interview with Oxford and had the day of the trial moved to the day he was supposed to be having the interview.
And Kousuke had the nerve to act like he gave a shit about Nol and check on him just because father dearest told him to and had the AUDACITY to say that they're brothers and they're supposed to be getting along and gaslit Nol to apologise.
Like bro, weren't you the one who said your life would have been better if Nol had never existed and practically blamed Nol for almost every bad thing that happened in your life🤨? You've been ignoring him up until the trial.
Nol is right. Kousuke is so obsessed with getting into good books with Rand and doesn't almost anything and everything for him and I have a feeling Kousuke knows this but he doesn't want to admit it to anyone ESPECIALLY to himself.
I mean sure Kousuke is threatened by Nol potentially inheriting the family company, the very thing that's his to have but that's like a quarter of the truth.
The truth is Kousuke is just insecure towards Nol in general and his hatred towards him has nothing to do with inheriting the company. It's way deeper than that.
And to anyone who's going to come with justifications like: Yui and Rand are to blame for the way they raised him. Yui groomed and manipulated Kousuke into hating Nol. Kousuke was just a kid. Kousuke's also a victim.
First off, yes how he was brought up and raised contributed and moulded his character and explains why he's the way he is. But they had nothing to do with Kousuke's hatred towards Nol. Yui and Rand didn't manipulate Kousuke into being abusive towards Nol: Yui encouraged it. Rand did nothing about it.
Secondly, Kousuke being a kid and his upbringing does not justify the harm he did to Nol. And the fact that this all continued all the way to their adulthood speaks volumes.
Thirdly, if we're going to be holding Yui and Rand accountable, keep that same energy to Kousuke coz that mofo is the blue print of it all😀🍷and he contributed just as much as they did.
Lastly, he may have been a victim but he suffered nothing at all. If anything he was the most privileged out of the both of them. Nol lost so much while Kousuke gained a whole lot. That's the difference between the two.
At this point a redemption arc is too much of luxury for kousuke. What he needs is the right amount of karma and his life falling apart for him to humble himself and have the sense knocked right into him coz he must have bumped his head.
And we're going to be honest Nol made the right call pleading guilty not because he didn't trust the system but to give the Hirahara family a big "fuck you I'm in control of my life bitches". Which was enough to surprise and worry Yui that she no longer could have that hold or control over him like she used to.
And it was his only way out and only means to get away from them since clearly, going abroad seems to be off the table.
He really has no reason to keep associating with them. He really doesn't.
Wooooooooo, I really went off in this entry.
But I will admit as much as I hate kousuke, he's the most beautiful written and fleshed out character in the webtoon and actually brings spice to the story.
But what do you guys think.
