Entry 21
The biggest pet peeve I have towards fictional characters is the type who take and not give.
I'm talking about the typa homies that who are given the most attention, love and affection. The type the protagonist is willing to give up a lot for this person even if they get hurt in the end. But these people don't and won't do the same for the protagonist.
What even pisses me beyond the levels of pisstocity is how these mafuckas suddenly realize how important these protagonists are the moment they decide to move on to greener pastures and decides to stop giving them attention. The typical realization that they are in fact in love with the protagonist all this time.
......
exCUSE MEH BETCH!
So you telling me that all this time when the protagonist was giving you hints, showing you how much they love and how much they're willing to go an extra mile for yo ass, only to realize that they did love you when they're gone?!
I may need to get my double seeing glasses because I can't even begin to see the bullshit coming outta ya.
These protagonists for the greater part of the story go through a lot of emotionally traumatizing pain, feeling all types of unworthiness and feeling like no one will ever love them, either because you leading them on or not making your intentions clear or worse ya'll were in denial of your feelings for the protagonist.
And the MOMENT these characters decide to make a painfully right decision that best for them and move on, it's suddenly a reality check and a realization for ya'll and you decide to chase after them.
WORSE OF ALL IF THE PROTAGONIST IS STILL WILLING TO CHASE AFTER THIS PERSON EVEN IF IT HURTS THEM THAT THE PERSON OF INTEREST DOESN'T FEEL THE SAME WAY AND WINDS UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
Uh uh. Uhm. No sir. We ain't doing this.
The concept might have been cute when I was younger but now that I'm 21 and have the capability to putting myself in the shows of the characters that shit ain't it and toxic af.
I've read a lot of these types of plots where I feel like I want just jump into the book and knock some sense into these characters.
Now don't get me wrong. I don't had the concept of unrequited love. If anything it's pretty much interest reading about what it's like and how the characters deal with such situations.
I'm just saying that it's sad that the protagonists often feel like they're not good enough or are not worthy of love or be love just because one person doesn't love them the way they do. It's frustrating that protagonists have to go through so much pain which could have been avoided if they just moved on instead of continuing to love someone they know they can't have.
Probably it's just me. I mostly read the situation from the character's perspective whilst think of how I would have handled the situation if I was in their shoes.
But I will tell you if the person of interest develops feelings for the protagonist right after the protagonist has decided to move on, I will laugh at that person's stupidity and regret not.
You had your chance chapters ago. You missed your shot.
What do y'all think?
