What just happened? (Minseoks POV)

The whole morning was a bit awkward for me honestly. The new student wouldn't stop staring at me, Luhan was looking back at me as well. I think he was trying to question me with eye contact onto why the 'Kris' guy was staring at me so much, but I didn't know either.

There's only one reason why he would be staring at me so much. It's probably because he feels like I'll get picked on at any second, and wants to keep a close watch. He doesn't even know me and he's already treating me like I'm some child.

When the end of the day came, I got up from my desk and was getting my things together when I saw someone approached my desk. I looked up to see who it was, expecting it to be Luhan but was surprised to see it was Kris.

"Hello" I formally say, bowing a bit before putting some of the books that were on my desk, into my bag.

"Why're you being so formal, we're chingu's!" Kris says in a smile, patting me on my shoulder which I nodded to. He took his hand away from my shoulder before asking "I was wondering if you wanted to go somewhere with me after school today?"

I looked at him a bit surprised for asking me. I looked over both my shoulders on either side of me to make sure he wasn't talk to someone else, who was maybe behind me. "Yes, I'm talking to you." He reassures, sensing that I thought he wasn't talking to me.

"Really..you want to hang out with me?" I question, sounding more shocked then I should have.

"Yeah, do you have other plans?" He asks while raising one eyebrow and crossing his arms.

"Not really...no..."

"Then thats great, meet me outside of the school at the front gate okay?" Kris asks and I nodded meaning okay. He turned around and walked out of the classroom and that's when I really felt I could breathe again.

He's so tall and masculine, he seems really intimidating too. I don't know what his intentions are with this. People like him don't hang out with people like me.

"Minseok, you okay?" I could hear Luhan ask as he walked towards me.

I realized I was staring down at my desk, getting lost in thought about the Kris guy and what he wanted. I shook my head to get back to reality and nodded meaning I was okay.

"If this is about your parents-"

I cut him off there "it's not about my parents."

He gave me a questioning expression on his face like he didn't believe me. "Why don't you tell me anything?"

"I'm telling you everything" I reassure.

Luhan continued to stare at me with that same expression before deeply sighing. "Fine, don't tell me anything. It's like right when your parents come back, you go back to like how you were before."

"What's that suppose to mean?" I question, looking at Luhan with a hurt expression on my face.

"Nothing" he mumbles while staring down at my desk. He then continues to say "the coach called me to talk with him after school about soccer season coming up after the snow is all gone. So I don't think I'll be able to meet up with you today." He explains before turning around and walking away. I could tell in his tone he sounded hurt.

I looked down into my open backpack and staring at it for a minute before putting the rest of the papers inside of it, zipping it up and throwing it on my back.

"I looked down and sighed before heading outside of the school to meet Kris up. "If you took any longer I thought you bailed on me." He says in a faint chuckle, walking towards me as I was walking up to him.

"Sorry, I was caught up with something." I explain before we both stopped walking because we were right in front of each other.

"Okay that's a valid excuse." He teases with light chuckling before wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

"Wh-what're you doing?!" I question in a stutter, pushing him away from me so his arm with unwrapped from around my shoulders.

"You don't do this with your friends?" He asks, looking at me confused. I looked down and didn't say anything, leaving a second of quietness between us before he says "or is it because you have no friends?"

I looked at him a bit flustered and surprised he'd say such things and he chuckled. "Sorry that I assumed you have no friends, but you don't hang out with anyone." He answers in a tone like he was apologetic on my behalf.

"It's fine, it's not like you're wrong..." I faintly answer while looking down.

We were by now actually starting to walk out of the school when I ask "so where're we going?"

"I just wanted to grab a bite to eat and talk a bit, get to know you, get to know a bit about the school and this place. It's my first time in Korea actually." He explains to me as we started walking down the sidewalk.

"Really, where else have you been?"

"I haven't been to many other places. I was born in China and did some of my schooling there before going to Canada and doing some there, and now I'm in Korea, doing some of it here." He explains while rubbing the back of his neck.

"I'm guessing you move around a lot?" I question, looking at him surprised.

"Yeah, even if we are stable in one country, that doesn't mean we were stable in one home. Im always moving from one place to the next, it's like all my things belong more in a box rather then actually in my room." He explains. I could hear he was a bit hurt in his tone, but was trying to hide it because I guess he didn't want to be seen as weak around me as a first impression.

Kris and I had sooner or later got to a close food place where we took a seat, sitting in front of one another. "Do you want to grab something to eat now?"

"Let's just continue talking." I answer, fixing my position in the seat before looking at him with a faint smile appearing on my face.

Silence was left between us for a couple seconds before he got up from where he was sitting. "Lets have something to eat first, I'll get the food, you watch the table." He says while standing up.

"Hold on" I say while pulling out my wallet, about to give him money for the food he was going to buy me.

"No need, I'm paying." He says before turning around and walking to the counter to order the food.

I watched him walk to the counter and was even more confused. I slowly put my wallet back into my backpack, bringing my backpack to put it on the ground so it wasn't taking up room on the table. Why is he being so nice to me, we just met?!

I continued to sit in silence, staring down at the table in front of me while playing with my fingers. As he brought the food for us, he placed the tray between us and he smiled at me.

I watched him smile but confusion was still swarming in my head. I need to ask him this, before it ruins my head! "Um, Kris?" I faintly say in a quiet tone.

"Mhm?" He says with his mouth full, chewing the burger he had taken a bite out of.

"Why're you being so nice to me...why do you want to be my friend?" I question, now looking at him seriously.

He stopped chewing and looked at me confused on why I was asking such things. After a second he continued to chew his food. He swallowed it before answering "what, I can't be friends with you?"

"It's not that..."

"Then what?" He asks in a smile, like he wanted to laugh at why I was questioning something so small.

"I just don't understand why you want to be friends with me. No one wants to be friends...with the fat kid...." I mumble, looking down and picking at my fingers even more now.

"You can't be serious Minseok, a lot of people probably want to be friends with you!"

"Why did you want to be friends with me?" I ask in a small frown, looking up at him, a bit conscious on how he's going to answer.

Kris looked up at the ceiling like he was thinking about his answer. "Hm, probably because you're cute."

"I-I'm what?!" I ask in surprise. At the same time I was drinking my soda, and I practically spit it out when he said that.

"You're cute." He says in a dazed smile, leaning his elbow on the table and holding his head in his hand while staring at me.

"Wh-what're you looking at?!" I question in a stutter.

"You" he says, still smiling while staring at my face.

"Stop that, don't look at me!" I say, looking down at the table with my cheeks heating up into a light pink.

"See, cute."

"Stop saying that, what do you even think is cute about me?! I'm not cute!" I say, still sounding very flustered.

"What's there to question about it, you don't see it yourself? You're cute, like a big bear." Kris says, still staring at me while smiling.

"W-wait but what do you mean, you don't mean that you like me in that way, right?"

"No, I do like you in that way...but I wanted to get to know you first before asking you out. If you want to push past that and go right into dating I'm cool with that too, but we just met today so I think it's pretty sudden." Kris explains, already thinking about the future.

"No, no, hold on! I-I can't go out with you, we can't date!" I say in a quiet tone, but I still sounded very serious.

"Why not...oh, are you not gay?" He asks, looking at me a bit upset.

"No...I am...gay, but I'm already dating someone."

"You're already dating someone?! Who?" Kris asks, sounding totally surprised.

"Luhan."

"Luhan...the Luhan from our class, Luhan?" Kris repeats, trying to make sure he had heard correctly. I slowly nodded meaning he was right but his surprised expression didn't leave his face. "It didn't even look like you guys knew each other."

"We're not open about our relationship...and I kind of avoid him around school."

"You avoid him, why?"

"Long story...but I just don't want him to be hurt." I explain, looking down at the table once again.

"Oh, so if we start dating would I get hurt too?"

"We're not going to date!"

"That's what you say now."

"I'm being serious Kris, we're not going to date. I love Luhan and I'm loyal to him." I say in a more confident tone now.

"I'm sure Luhan wouldn't do a lot of things for you, I'd do whatever for you. That's what I do when I'm in love with someone. Here's my number." He says, pulling out a piece of paper and a pen from outside of his pocket. He wrote down his number onto it and slid it across the table. "Call me sometime, okay?"

I took the piece of paper and stared at it for a while. I then looked back up at Kris who looked like he was waiting for an answer from me. "Yeah, sure I'll call you sometime." I answer in a sigh, putting the paper in my uniform pants pocket.

"Good, text me tonight, okay?" He asks and I nodded my head meaning sure and with that he turned around and left.

What...the hell just happened?!
