Driving home (Minseoks POV)

I told Luhan the way to my apartment and he started driving once we pulled out of his driveway. An awkward silence filled the car and both of us didn't talk for a while until Luhan asks "if you live where you told me, what're you doing on this side of town? It's an hour away from our school?" Luhan asks, I guess he was just trying to start a conversation.

I didn't answer and continued to look out the window. I guess when he realised I wasn't going to answer him, he asks "so you're not going to answer me?"

"I don't need to tell you." I answer right away.

He didn't say anything once again and we stopped at a red light. "You know...thanks...for...helping me back there." He says in a faint mumble. I'm glad I heard him say thank you though.

"No problem...what was your dad doing?" I ask, now I was the one who was curious.

"I don't need to tell you that either." He explains and I nodded, agreeing. If I wasn't going to tell him things, he shouldn't tell me personal things either. I'd just be a hypocrite if I complained about it.

"What about your parents, aren't they worried that you're out so late?" Luhan asks...wow, is he actually concerned? Is he really a nice person when his friends aren't around or is it just because I helped him with his dad.

"My parents aren't home so it's okay."

"Where do they work?"

"Some business, they usually ask to work overtime so they can get more money." I explain and I could see Luhan nodding from the corner of my eye.

"What about you?"

"My mom's not with us and my dad doesn't work."

"If your dad doesn't work how do you get money to pay for the bills or to even pay for this car?" I ask, looking at Luhan totally confused.

"Our family from China sends us money. My dad said he wanted to move to Korea to start a new life for us here but he hasn't changed much." Luhan explains, starting to drive once the light turned green, having his eyes fixed on the road.

"I see" I say in a quiet tone. "How'd you get this car then, it looks brand new." I ask, observing the inside of his car.

"What do you think, I have a job."

"You have a job?!" I ask in a surprised tone, I would never expect Luhan to have a job. On his social media he's always at parties and is staying up late.

"You sound surprised" he mentions with a light smirk appearing on his face.

"Sorry...I just never thought you'd have a job because of how many parties you go to. When would you have the time to work?" I question and he shrugs.

"I'm not telling you my tricks" he says with a fake laugh at the end.

I started to recognise our surroundings now and knew we were in my area. I then turned my head to look at Luhan's face. "Is your nose okay?" I ask, looking at the dried blood from underneath Luhan's nose.

"You mean this?" Luhan asks, pointing to the dried blood I was staring at. "Of course I'm fine, this is nothing." Luhan explains in a smile, like it really was nothing.

"Does...your dad do a lot of that?" I question, looking at Luhan seriously and he became quiet.

"Why do you want to know, you want me to punch your fat face to show you how it feels or something?" Luhan asks, yeah he's back.

"No..." I say in a light mumble, looking down into my lap.

I could see my apartment in the distance, it was just down the road but we stopped at a red light again. "So Minseok, why're you so fat?" He asks and it felt like something inside me broke. I wanted to punch him in the face so his nose would bleed again.

Where did that come from?! Why is he asking me something like that. Does he not know what respect is? That's something you just shouldn't ask someone, especially to bigger people like me.

"You know, people can decide whether to be fat or not...so why're you fat?"

Okay I was about to burst into flames of anger. "You can't 'choose' to be fat." I say with the most calm voice I could put on.

"Sure you can, fat people can just work out and lose weight." He says and I lost it.

"Let me out" I say, now sounding angry in my tone of voice.

"Your apartment is right there though...isn't it? Plus we're in the middle of the road waiting for the light to turn green." Luhan asks, pointing at my building which was like I said, just up ahead.

"I said let me out" I say once again, shouting a bit louder. I didn't bother to look at him to see what type of facial expression he was making, but I could probably guess it was a pretty surprised one.

He hesitantly unlocked the car door and I got out of the passengers seat, walking to the sidewalk so I could continue walking my way home.

I got home and the quiet house filled my ears, the silence was so suffocating I felt like I could choke on my own breath...if that made any sense.

"Can't you just loose weight? Did you choose to be fat?" Those things were ringing in my ears. The more I heard Luhan's voice asking such nonsense, I got angrier.

I went to fridge to pull out a Popsicle and walked over to the living room when I passed by a full body mirror on my way into the other room.

I back tracked in front of the mirror and just looked at myself. I brought one hand up to my stomach and grabbed a hold of the fat. I-I shouldn't listen to what they say. I-I told Mr.Seo I don't care what any of them say...and I'm right, I don't! Haha, their words won't get to me!

I woke up the next morning with another terrible headache. This time it wasn't because I didn't get enough sleep. If anything I tried to get more sleep last night then I did this whole year. The thing is, I kept having nightmares and waking up, screaming.

It happened every two hours which hurt my throat but also hurt my head. I think my parents even woke up a couple times but they didn't bother to check if I was alright or not.

My eyes hurt from crying but I got up and out of bed, getting ready for school like every other day. I sat down at the table and made sure to eat my breakfast this morning so my stomach doesn't make noises during class again.

While I was in the middle of putting an egg inside my mouth, my mom says "your doctor emailed me yesterday saying you've gained weight."

When my mom mentioned that, my dad's head turned from the living room where he was sitting, to look at her because she was standing in front of me in the dining room.

"Just a bit" I manage to say like it was no big deal.

"Just a bit...you're saying five pounds is just a bit, considering how big you already are?!" She questions, looking at me in anger.

She's yelling at me like I'm some sort of whale. I continued to eat my breakfast when she explains "you can't buy anything after school to eat. You will be having breakfast, lunch and dinner from now on, nothing else. No snacks." She says, still looking at me mad and serious.

"Mhm" I mumble while chewing the egg. My mom always said this. When my doctor emails her saying I've gained weight she goes on these mini fits where she tells me I have to eat only three meals a day and they all have to be healthy, but it never works out.

I knew this whole 'fit of anger' would disappear by the end of the day because all I have to remember is that she doesn't actually care about me. She cares about herself and how her son is being seen in society.

Once I was done with my breakfast I pushed the plate away from myself and walked over to the washroom to brush my hair and brush my teeth.

I was in the middle of combing my hair when my mom appeared in the doorway of the washroom. Is my mom actually going to talk to me about something other then my weight or how much of a disappointment I am?

"Minseok" she starts off with saying and I continued to look at her, waiting for her to continue saying what she wanted to tell me. "Yesterday when your father and I were coming back home from work there was a young man standing outside our building. He asked if we were your parents and told me to give this to you." She says, holding out a white envelope in front of her.

I looked at her confused, raising one eyebrow but took the envelope out of her hand. After I took the envelope she turned around and left the doorway like she was going back to ignoring me.

Someone was waiting for my parents to get home? It couldn't have been...Luhan, could it?

I carefully opened the envelope and pulled out the small piece of paper which was inside it. The only thing that was written on the paper was:

"I'm sorry... -Luhan."

It made me smirk seeing that, not only did he say he was sorry, but he waited a couple of hours outside my apartment for my parents to come home to tell them to give me the note. Not to mention he doesn't know who my parents are, so he was probably asking everyone who was walking in and out of the building if they were my parents.

Luhan...is really confusing.
