What's on your Mind?
"What's on your mind Steve?" The newly blonde woman asked the newly bearded Captain. He thought he could enjoy some time alone and sketch in his sketchbook a bit, but knowing his friend he knew that it wouldn't last. He sighs as he looks up to meet her green eyes that study him.
"Nothing..." He lies with a calm and confident voice. The woman rolls her eyes as she grabs for his sketchbook. She studies the faded sketch marks as she thinks.
"There's something on your mind Steve. Just tell me." She grumbles as she looks at him with a look of the same demand that laps her voice. Steve sighs as he shakes his head in disagreement. "Then explain this." She turns the page to reveal a beautiful brunette with brown eyes and vibrate red lipstick. "Bullshit."
Steve sighs. "It's just some woman I saw earlier..." He lies once again, but no lie will ever get past the Black Widow. She glares at him as she turns the page to reveal the same woman but in a different drawing. She turns the page once again to reveal another. Steve sighs in defeat. "Alright, I do have something on my mind..."
"Who is it?" Natasha studies him as she closes the sketchbook and hands it back him. Steve huffs as he looks at his friend. He thinks of what to say and how to say it. He also doesn't want to sound too attached he really was to the figure in the drawings.
"She was this woman I met back in the war... Margaret Elizabeth Carter... She went by Peggy Carter and helped trained the soldiers for war and kept them in line." Steve begins to tell the truth. "But... She was more than just that... At least to me."
Natasha nods as she listens, thinking as well. "You're really attached aren't you?" Steve looks down, upset that she though exactly he did not want her to think.
"She was like..." He sighs as he searches for the correct group of words. "The first woman I ever loved... I knew she loved me back as well..." He studies Natasha as he continues to come clean.
She nods. "You really miss her. I can see why." Steve was thankful that she did. Deep down, Peggy really meant alot to him. Sadly he lost her for good about a year or so ago and he never really healed ever since. He was blessed to be able to see her after he came out of the ice and begin to live a sorta "normal" life in the 21st century.
Natasha grins as she looks at him. "You do know I knew that you had a strong interest for this girl for quite some time, right?"
"You did?" Steve was a little shocked by what she had just said and begin to think of how she could've. Natasha crosses her arms, holding that grin.
"I'm not a dumbass Rogers." Steve had to give her that, she was a pretty smart woman. But how could she put this together? Is she really that smart? Or is it really just oblivious?
"And I believe you are not." Steve sighs as he looks at her.
"I bet she misses you too." Natasha replies as she looks down at her hands that move to fidget with her suit.
"What's on your mind?" Steve uses her own words as he notices her movement and slight change of mood.
"I wonder if he misses me..." Natasha looks back up at the soldier. It takes Steve a minute to understand who she was referring to.
He then shrugs. "I bet he does. I bet he misses everyone. It has been 2 years." Natasha nods as she listens to him.
"Maybe... Maybe he is just dead..." She shugs. "I'm never really good with love anyways." Steve shakes his head in disagreement.
"You're the woman that kept giving me relationship advice left and right, you are good at it. You just had some very bad timing." Natasha shugs..
"Or I'm just a very forceful and stubborn human being." She claims with some strong thought.
"Or you're just very bad at waiting for the right moment." Steve grins.
"That too." She quickly agrees. Then in the corner of her eye she notices Sam and sighs. Steve turns his head as he follows her gaze and spots the man.
"Wow, family bonding time without me?" Sam jokes as he studies the two.
"So, what's on your mind." Natasha rolls her eyes playfully. Sam grins as he thinks.
"Food." He shrugs. "We all have it on our minds. In fact, I'm starving."
"Of course you are." Steve grins as he stands up. As he does the sketchbook slides off the bed and opens face down on one of the pages. Steve quickly picks it up to see the sketch he has not completed yet and sighs. He just can't help but have her on his mind. What's on his mind? The one girl that means so much to him.
